  • Art therapists are utilizing papermaking and its process as an intervention for art therapy. Influenced by its transmutation and sensory-based properties, art therapists use papermaking for promoting emotional expression, fostering self-awareness, or manage recovery, loss, and trauma.

    Panelists:
    Amy Bucciarelli, MS, ATR-BC, LMHC, NCC- Amy is a Board Certified Art Therapist and Licensed Mental Health Counselor in Florida. She owns Coastal Blossom Counseling & Art Therapy, specializing in medical art therapy, trauma, and loss. Amy taught graduate-level art therapy and arts in medicine for over a decade. She began papermaking in 2012 thanks to Peace Paper Project.
    Janice M. Havlena, BFA, MA, ATR-BC-Retired - Janice received her MA in art therapy from the University of New Mexico and her BFA from Wayne State University, Detroit. Her work has included clinical art therapy, academic teaching, research in epilepsy, art therapy, and community art. Janice has collaborated with Peace Paper Project since 2012.
    Meredith Lin McMackin, MFA, MS, Ph.D., LMHC, ATR - Meredith received an MFA in Studio Art, MS in Art Therapy, and Ph.D. in Art Education from Florida State University where she researched the therapeutic process of hand papermaking with student veterans. Meredith works as an Art Therapist and Licensed Mental Health Counselor in Vancouver, Washington, United States.

    Drew Luan Matott, MFA is a Master Papermaker, Founder and Director of the Peace Paper Project with expertise in using papermaking as a form of social engagement and community activism.
    Gretchen M. Miller, MA, ATR-BC, ACTP is a Registered Board Certified Art Therapist and Advanced Certified Trauma Practitioner.
