Why doesn't Jesus say that He and the Holy Spirit know the hour of the Tribulation in Mark 13:31 and Matthew 24:36? Many have tried to answer this, but I feel the wrong approach has been taken up. Maybe Jesus was saying something completely different than what we expect.

Jesus as a Jewish Son was being obedient and showing respect to His Father. A Jewish man would pay a price for his Bride they were then in an engagement period during this time the Jewish groom would prepare for his marriage , a home etc He would wait for the Father to give the word for him to get his Bride with the sound of a ram's horn the wedding party and witnesses would get the bride The Father had to be satisfied that all was fulfilled . Jesus was showing love and respect for the Father

When Jesus did not state the hour, he stated something that is so "Godly". That God is merciful, abounding in love, slow to anger, quick to forgive.
Abraham interceded for Sodom that if there were ten righteous persons left, God promised to withhold judgement.
King Hezekiah was about to die by prophet Isaiah, but he prayed and negotiated with God and God added fifteen years to his life.
Nineveh was about to perish in forty days, but when they repented, God also relented on the judgement due to them.
If Jesus had stated the hour, and there will be no room for abounding grace, abounding mercy, nor abounding love. There will only be impending judgement for mankind.
All glory to our risen Lord!

Winston Loh You are confusing knowledge with mercy. God can be All-Merciful & All-Knowledgable at the same time. This is not a contradiction. Jesus only spoke about KNOWLEDGE in this passage and told us WHO knows the hour: no one, including himself, knows the hour EXCEPT the Father. This is crystal clear. Jesus was limited in knowledge and thus cannot be God. Also, are you then implying that Jesus was merciful and the Father (who knows the hour) is NOT merciful?

      Abdul S.
      Come on, Abdul
You just denied the deity of Jesus Christ, and that is wrong, very wrong !!
All of you folks that deny the deity of Christ, Jehovah's Witnesses, Arians, Muslims, Mormons, etc, keep missing a great big point.
Jesus does not leave any other alternative open to us other than that He is God the Son, God manifested on Earth in the flesh (John 1:1-3,14 & 18; 1Tim.3:16; Luke 1:68;& 7:16; Phil.2:5-8,etc,etc)..
Jesus is God visiting His people.
If Jesus is not who He said He is, and what the Bible claims He is, God, then you are all saying Jesus is a Liar and or a
      Lunatic !!
There is no other alternative...Jesus is either God manifest in the flesh, visiting His creation as the old testament foretold, or a Liar/Lunatic.
He cannot be a good teacher, a great man of history, a sage, a blessed man, or even a prophet or Messiah.NO, He is God...or false !!
You choose, this day who you will serve, God, who spilled His very OWN BLOOD FOR YOU AND ME (Acts 20:28),or an idol, like Mohammed, or the Watchtower, or yourselves.
Stop claiming Jesus is not God, the Father wants us as well as all the angels to worship Him (Heb. 1:6)...
Now, why would God want that, unless Jesus is indeed God in the flesh.

The use of a Jewish wedding and subsequent preparation, is an absolutely excellent analogy to explain what Christ meant! This has also given me a further and deeper understanding of the sanctity of marriage. I am afraid, being a child of the 60’s and 70’s, I grew up in a generation of people who considered themselves the ‘enlightened ones’ who no longer needed to get married, and the advent of the contraception pill reinforced this viewpoint! But even though it is late in the day, I am deeply grateful to our Lord, for giving me this insight, I have made some mistakes though the last 59 years, but I have been forgiven. I know this because the Lord is Good and has promised to turn no one away when they have a broken and contrite heart. All praise and thanks to God!

Yes, I have heard this as well. I directly deal with this in "Refuting Objections to the Trinity (part 1)", the 6th link in the information section. According to both the Thayer and the Strongs concordances, the Greek word "Eido" means *TO SEE WITH THE EYE / PERCEIVE WITH THE SENSES*
      www.blueletterbible.org/lang/lexicon/lexicon.cfm?Strongs=G1492&t=KJV
Therefore the Angels and the Son (on Earth) do not see it because they are within TIME, whereas God is Eternal and OUTSIDE THE CONSTRAINTS OF TIME, meaning God in His Omnipotence and Omnipresence, experiences and perceives all things at once simultaneously. People have access to time only in part. We can only recall the past and experience the present. God is OUTSIDE TIME and has no such limitations.
Jesus Christ, whileon Earth bore the flesh of man and therefore in that state, though he is God, the Son, because He came to us in the flesh, would be perceiving as a man. And In that way be limited as we are limited.

Muslims and unitarians often cite mark 13:32 which reads:
But of that day and that hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels which are in heaven, neither the Son, but the Father.
They interpolate and butcher the verse by reading out of the intended context and conclude that Jesus does not know all things hence he is not omniscient, but the bible goes in stark contradiction to this statement ironically, for example lets read some verses
    John 21:17
He said to him the third time, “Simon, son of John, do you love me?” Peter was grieved because he said to him the third time, “Do you love me?” and he said to him, “Lord, you know everything; you know that I love you.” Jesus said to him, “Feed my sheep.
    Matthew 11:27
All things are delivered unto me of my Father: and no man knoweth the Son, but the Father; neither knoweth any man the Father, save the Son, and he to whomsoever the Son will reveal him.
    John 16:30-31
_*Now we know that you(Jesus Christ) know all things and do not need anyone to question you*_; this is why we believe that you came from God.” Jesus answered them, Do ye now believe?
Notice Jesus does not rebuke them for saying he knows all things instead affirms them meaning the muslim interpretation of the verse in mark 13:32 has already failed afterall how could Jesus Christ be the the exact representation of his(The father's) very being without knowing the last hour as said in hebrews 1:1-3
    Hebrews 1:1-3
God, who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets,
    Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds;
He is the reflection of God’s glory and the exact representation of his very being, and he sustains all things by the word of his power. And after he had made a purification for our sins,he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high.
So no wonder he is said to have known all things about the father which nobody knows save him(Jesus Christ), but one might argue that its a contradiction for which we shall explain the words of Christ in the proper context
The word for "know" in mark 13:32 in greek is "eido" bearing this in mind lets read another passage
    1corinthians 2:1-2
1)And I, brethren, when I came to you, came not with excellency of speech or of wisdom, declaring unto you the testimony of God.
2)For I determined not to know any thing among you, save Jesus Christ, and him crucified..
The same word "eido" is used for "know" in verse 2 same as in mark 13:32, but here the context of the verse does not mean Paul learned from the people about Jesus christ and his crucifixion but it means to make it known to the people about Jesus Christ and his crucifixion alone and refrain from speaking about other complex doctrines to avoid unnecessary debates.
Bearing this in mind and applying this new knowledge of the word "eido" as making things known or manifest or reveal we see that the context of mark 13:32 is not about Jesus knowing the hour or not knowing it but about revealing the hour as it says in
    Acts 1:7
And he said unto them, It is not for you to know the times or the seasons, which the Father hath put in his own power.
The father is the one who announces the marriage not the son, As christians we know Jesus Christ is our bridegroom and we as humans are his brides and the father is the one who makes known this marriage time so the faithful bride will be ready all the time lest the father and the bridegroom suddenly come and catch them off guard. Jesus does not reveal the hour because its the fathers duty, The humans and angels do not reveal the last hour because they do not know when it is by nature of them not being Jehovah.
Just to further enforce my answer I will be quoting the church father Augustine who answers the same question in the way I answered so that people reading my answer may know that I am not creating my own answer using my 21st century apologetic mind or that its a heterodox view .
Nicene and Post-Nicene Fathers, Series 1, Volume 3, pages 30-31,
Augustine: On the Holy Trinity, Doctrinal Treatises, Moral Treatises:
Chapter 12.-In What Manner the Son is Said Not to Know the Day and the Hour Which the Father Knows?
    Answer:
Again, “Of that day and that hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels which are in heaven; neither the Son, but the Father.”136 For He is ignorant of this, as making others ignorant; that is, in that He did not so know as at that time to show His disciples:137 as it was said to Abraham, “Now I know that thou fearest God,”138 that is, now I have caused thee to know it; because he himself, being tried in that temptation, became known to himself. For He was certainly going to tell this same thing to His disciples at the fitting time; speaking of which yet future as if past, He says, “Henceforth I call you not servants, but friends; for the servant knoweth not what his Lord doeth: but I have called you friends; for all things that I have heard of my Father I have made known unto you;”139 which He had not yet done, but spoke as though He had already done it, because He certainly would do it. For He says to the disciples themselves, “I have yet many things to say unto you; but ye cannot bear them now.”140 Among which is to be understood also, “Of the day and hour.” _*For the apostle also says, “I determined not to know anything among you, save Jesus Christ, and Him crucified*_;”141 because he was speaking to those who were not able to receive higher things concerning the Godhead of Christ. To whom also a little while after he says, “I could not speak unto you as unto spiritual, but as unto carnal.”142 He was “ignorant,” therefore, among them of that which they were not able to know from him. And that only he said that he knew, which it was fitting that they should know from him. In short, he knew among the perfect what he knew not among babes; for he there says: “We speak wisdom among them that are perfect.”143 For a man is said not to know what he hides, after that kind of speech, after which a ditch is called blind which is hidden. For the Scriptures do not use any other kind of speech than may be found in use among men, because they speak to men.

Continue reading the rest of the entire chapter and Jesus says that no man will know the hour that the Son of man comes. We are told to watch and if the goodman had watched, he would have known. So, we can know the day but not the hour that the Son of man comes because we are Watching. Verse 50 said that the lord of that servant shall come in a day when he (the servant) looketh not for him and in an Hour that he is not aware of. Because you don't understand the nature of fig trees, before the actual season fug trees bear small fruits, if they don't produce small fruits before the actual season there won't be any fruits growing in the season. It's similar to cherry trees, not the same but if there are no flowers on cherry trees before the actual season where cherries are growing, there won't be any cherries growing in the season. It's a fruitless tree, often times dead that can't produce anything.

The Greek word in these passages refers to a knowledge which teaches others. All Christ was saying was that the Son does not know and teach others as the Father knows and teaches others about this. So essentially, Christ was saying that he would not teach them this information. Nonetheless, for the most part your explanation was pretty good. This little extra just helps explain why Christ said "neither the Son".

@InspiringPhilosophy I just wanted to say God bless you for all the content you are creating. A lot of Christians have so many misunderstandings by not looking into the history of the ancient world, especially that of Israel and its culture. This creates so many misunderstandings, which will ultimately create confusion, not just for Christians, but for other people as well. I feel like that Christians need to study more on ancient history and ancient cultures to understand what they were about. I am glad that God uses somebody like you to put this kind of content on CZcams. God bless you, brother!!

(Matthew 24:36) "But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only."
(Mark 13:32) "But of that day and that hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels which are in heaven, neither the
    Son, but the Father."
Do these verses contradict the Doctrine of the Trinity? YES! The Trinity Doctrine was invented by the Catholic Church! The Catholic church follows pagan rituals, such as praying to dead people, and baptizing people by SPRINKLING, instead of being submerged under water, as John did with Jesus!
Therefore, the Trinity Doctrine is Satanic Heresy!
Jesus was the only BEGOTTEN of the Father! Jesus was human and felt pain, hunger, sorrow, anger, etc., etc.!
God, who is a Spirit, lived within that body He formed inside the womb of Mary!
God did the work THROUGH that body! God spoke to people THROUGH Jesus Christ!
(Hebrews 2:9) "But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels for the suffering of death, crowned with glory and honour; that he by the grace of God should taste death for every man."
(Philippians 2:6-7) "Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God: {7} But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men:"
DO YOU SEE HOW THE ESV TWISTED THE WORDS AROUND TO FIT THE TRINTIY DOCTRINE? IT'S BLASPHEMY!
Why wouldn't say the Father and the Holy Spirit know the hour? Because the Holy Spirit and God are one and the same being! Simple! This again, disproves the Trinity Heresy!

What? verse 21 through 31 is describing the tribulation, But then in verse 32 Jesus starts explaining what it will be like leading up. Which is why he gives a lesson from the fig tree and says "So also, when you see all these things, you know that he is near". He is clearly referring when the time will be near because that is what He says.

Hello, that is understood by context. The context shows that Jesus was speaking about people (verses 25-26), that no human knows God, & thus, is in need of Christ to reveal him. Jesus refers to God hiding his wisdom from the intellectuals & revealing it to babes. This clearly refers to humans, that God has chosen to reveal Himself to people that the world considers as unwise (1 Cor. 1:18-29).

Peace be upon the prophets of God.
God is not bound by time, what we understand by past, present and future do not apply to God.
Humans are bound by time, you having to experience an event in the future is because you are subject to time. Hence you experience past, present and future.
Therefore when we refer to the knowledge that is with God its absolute, complete, not missing anything.
This what we understand when we say God is all knowing, since God is always present.
The past does not precede God, nor the future is ahead of God.
God has all knowledge, past, present and future.
The confusion non trinitarians get is when trinitarians say, The Father and Son are both God.
Jews and Muslims for example believe only The Father is God.
This is a point of discussion.
If both are God, and the basic understanding of God is that he is all knowledgeable.
The question raised to trinitarians is, if The Son and The Father are God, how come Jesus is saying he doesnt know the hour, only the Father does.
      Being God, Jesus should know.
      Matthew 24:36
"But about that day or hour no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father.

The fact that Jesus said his Father knew something he didn’t does not call his divinity into question but rather tells us something about the Trinity. Not only is the Father not the Son and the Son not the Father, but they can have separate thoughts. Anyway, Jesus said he would tell the church everything the Father told him, and even Paul, to whom so many revelations were given that he was forbidden from telling them all, said we don’t know the time of the rapture and should all live accordingly.

    It is hardly an answer.
For Jesus, if he emptied himself from being God( regardless the self contradiction of this statement), then at the end of the day, he was not god in that period of time.
As for the Holy Spirit, there's no answer. It is an overstretched imagination projected to that verse while clearly that verse has nothing to do with it. Especially in the context in which Jesus was emphasizeing that no one knows! Even the Angels in heaven nor the Son. So to say he only said that in out of respect to the Father is obviously a desperate try to avoid the obvious.

      Koran is false.. Why ?
      1. No eyewitness or testimony on Jesus. Muhammad never met or talked to Jesus before ; how could he testified about Jesus 600 years later whom he never met before ? It is just like calling Obama a Japanese man by someone in year 2621.
      2. If Allah in Quran cannot define Trinity correctly, how could it be divinely inspired? In the Quran , Trinity comprises Allah , Jesus and Mary which is wrong. Trinity in the Bible is : Father, Jesus and the Holy Spirit.
      Surah 5:116
"And as Allah said, "O Isa son of Maryam, (Jesus son of Mary) did you say to mankind, "Take me and my mother to your selves as two gods, apart from Allah '?" He said, All Extolment be to You! In no way is it for me to say what I have no right to. In case I ever said it. then You already know it. You know whatever is within my self, and I do not know what is within Your Self; surely You, Ever You, are The Superb Knower of the Things Unseen."
      3. Quran and hadith are full of foolish delusions.
      e.g. 1
(Al- Bukhari Volume 4, Book 54, Number 537)
If a fly drop into your drinks , one of the wings is poisonous, the other wing is the cure said Quran .So Quran advice dipping the whole fly . Wow..to get maximum germs😆😆? ....Tell the scientist all over the world that flies are good for your health.
      e.g.2
Have you ever seeing monkeys acting this way?
(Sahih Al- Bukhari , Book 58, Hadith 188)
Narrated 'Amr bin Maimun: During the pre-lslamic period of ignorance I saw a she-monkey surrounded by a number of monkeys. They were all stoning it, because it had committed illegal sexual intercourse. I too, stoned it along with them.
      4. Scientific errors in the Quran.
      a. Sun sets in a murky water
      -----------------------
      Sura 18: 85-86
"He [i.e. Zul-qarnain] followed, until he reached the setting of the sun. He found it set in a spring of murky water."
Sunan Abu Daud No : 4002
Narrated Abu Dharr: I was sitting behind the Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم who was riding a donkey while the sun was setting. He asked: Do you know where this sets ? I replied: Allah and his Messenger know best. He said: It sets in a spring of warm water (Hamiyah).
      Explanation:
According to this surah, Alexander the Great traveled west until he found out what happened to the sun. It went down into and under the murky waters of a pond. When it was completely covered by the water, darkness fell upon the earth.Darkness came when the sun went down under the dark waters of a pond.
The mistake was based on the erroneous assumption that the earth was flat.
      b. Mule is not created.
      ------------------------------------
      Sura 16:8
"He also created˺ horses, mules, and donkeys for your transportation and adornment. And He creates what you do not know."
      Explanation:
Mules are the offspring of a female horse and a male donkey. But mules generally can’t reproduce on their own. There are mismatches in horse and donkey DNA. Humans have bred mules for thousands of years and they are not created like the horse and donkeys.
c.Allah created all things in pairs.
      --------------------------------------------------------
      Sura 36:36
"Glory to Allah, Who created in pairs all things that the earth produces, as well as their own (human) kind and (other) things of which they have no knowledge."
      Explanation:
Some snails are considered hermaphrodites, which means they have both male and female reproductive organs .Also, many bacteria, protists, fungi, and plants reproduce asexually ( without sex organs).
      5. Muhammad's character a big question, not befitting a prophet.
      Sunan Abu Dawud, Number 2116
"Aisha said: The Apostle of Allah (may peace be upon him) married me when I was seven years old. The narrator Sulaiman said: Or six years. He had intercourse with me when I was nine years old. "
      Surah 23:6
"And they who guard their private parts except from their wives or those their right hands possess, for indeed, they will not be blamed "
Sex for Dihya then pass it to Muhammad ( who condoned rape)
      Bukhari Volume 3, Book 34, Number 431:
      "Narrated Anas:
Amongst the captives was Safiya. First she was given to Dihya Al-Kalbi and then to the Prophet."
Jesus is the Way, the Truth and the Life. Accept Him as your Savior and Lord.

that then when he was a man on Earth or in heaven because he said "as to that day and hour" which is talking when he is in heaven.
So your entire video does not give the full answer my friend. So explain this , now that he is in heaven does he know that day and hour ? This is what happens when you split God up. It's nonsense. The Trinity doctrine is false. Not a single Scripture used in this video, or this guy's explanation, supports the doctrine.
The statement made at 3:48 is literally a contradiction of what Jesus himself said.
Jesus didn't say "it is not for me to reveal, only the Father." If that's what he said, the analogy makes sense. But that's not what he said.
The Holy Spirit is not mentioned as a distinct person because the Holy Spirit belongs to God, it's his Spirit, and the fact that there is only one eternal Spirit means there is only one divine "person," which is God. God is not one "what" with three "who's." God is a "who," and there is only one "who."

[25] Now therefore, I pray thee, pardon my sin, and turn again with me, that I may worship the Lord . [26] And Samuel said unto Saul, I will not return with thee: for thou hast rejected the word of the Lord , and the Lord hath rejected thee from being king over Israel.

I’m afraid you will run into the same heresy that Islam has with Jesus being God. If you believe Jesus was God, you’ll have to believe that God died for 3 days. If there isn’t the trinity the crucifixion doesn’t make sense. And you’re forced to admit 1 of 2 things. Jesus isn’t God, or Jesus wasn’t crucified.

Prove is a strong word. I am showing this verse doesn't show Jesus isn't God and refuting it as a supposed unitarian objection. Again, Jesus didn't cease to be God, He took on two natures and willingly cooperated with the one for a time. Read Philippians 2. he took on a 2nd nature and cooperated with that.

IF you want to rebuttal my argument, address the issue of historical context. This video is answering a de jure objection to Christianity, so I just need to show consistency.
I didn't make Jesus say anything, I took His words in context of the culture He was speaking to. I did not imply He lied or s schizophrenic, that would be modalism. Stop straw manning trinitarianism by confusing it with modalism.
