One thing I do hate is now that there is death and black metal and stuff, people act like if you have the SLIGHTEST bit of catchiness or melody that you are somehow a sellout. Take A7X for example- kick ass groove metal that became hugely successful- I always hear people comparing them to TRUE METAL bands like Pantera, saying how A7X are posers blah blah blah, meanwhile Vinnie Paul jams 'Tera tunes on stage with them and Rex went to their show and told them ""You guys are waving the flag now"
I think I just fell in love with him, after only 2 min of hearing him speak. Today's "radio" bands, the lack of expressive and distinctive vocals, how once a band is no longer "underground" they basically become pariahs... I couldn't have said any of it better myself. And the fact it's coming from someone my age makes it 100x better.
Almost makes me proud to hear him say that he wanted to be in one of those bands headlining arenas everyday and such, and now, they're headlining arenas every day. Good work boys!
You are very fortunate, I have met them twice but the venues were 19+ they signed In Waves for me (All 4 guys), I didn't get into the venue though but they were so fucking friendly, Corey gave me a screaming lesson, who the hell does that on such a busy schedule? They are amazing to their fans
Absolutely LOVE Matt Heafy. It's just not fair that he's so insanely fit AND can do the guitar shit AND sing like a perdy angel when he tries. Love Trivium x
Thanks man, totally, and aside just from Maggots, metalheads in general of both genders and all ages should be cohesive and overall an army of free thinkers and free spirits. I listen to everything from Sabbath to Axewound, the OLDEST to NEWEST stuff in metal. Thrash and Glam, Rap metal, Groove Metal, Death Metal, Black Metal, Doom Metal, Classic Metal, its all metal and should all be celebrated. Especially Slipknot, they just blew everything away heavy-wise and to be so heavy yet listenable!
Yes, they are very professional live, they are also respectful to the fans in such a major way, I have to see them live! Corey said they are demoing their new album already, and it should come out in the 3rd quarter of 2013, which is what Matt said.
I remember seeing Trivium in 2004 at “Harpos” in Detroit opening for Children Of Bodom & Amon Amarth was first then Trivium then “COB” & I’d never heard of Trivium & they were only 18/19yrs old & just crushed it.
trivium didnt sell out, they just moved away from the metalcore sounds towards the 80's thrash sound, which is what they wanted to do from the beggining, but matt couldnt sing so he screamed instead.
It's ridiculous how young of a band they are but they are so professional live, probably the most professional band I have seen live besides megadeth and Lacuna Coil. All 3 of those bands are the best to see live.
trivium= 1 of best bands of all time, cos they evolved, they actually tried new things that workd an sounds amazing, and they experimenting, nd it sounds nothing like metallica at all, theyr an amzing band, cant wait for thier nu album
Thats why they toured together! \m/ Slipknot have achieved huge success, they packed Madison Square Garden with metalheads, thats monumental. And for a MODERN metal band to do that? Thats just raising the bar.
i use genres as a way of like organizing it, cuz sleep isnt the same as megadeth, but they're both metal. when people start arguing about like "progressive-death-stoner-power-core" our those like tiny ones, but like thrash amd death and power i think are just good ways of organising, and describing a band to someone who hasnt heard of it
I have matt and corey's autographs I hung it on a picture frame and put it on my wall. I didn't meet them I had to convince someone who was going to meet them to get one for me.
dude in the crusade they do really sound like metallica, i mean if they aint copyin them they're wearin there influences on their sleeves. lol. another thing thats bad for a musician to do is to completely reinvent himself after he has gotten big, im supprised trivium have kept any of their old fans, they changed loads, not only no screaming but the way they write there songs has changed and a completely different style is there, cant wait for the new album woo!!
i've been to an actual concert and they kick some ass! my fav trivium song is becomeing the dragon but they are all good. and it's true that matt say fuck every 2 seconds on stage.
If you like a band, you like them for their music... Whether they are mainstream or not. Thats so stupid that people stop liking bands, simply because they become more popular.
"This guy can scream better than the guy next door can scream" he has a point here i dont get that death metal olny screaming something that nobody understands and people say that they are good singers ,ofcourse the song has to have screams but not all of the song and Trivium just do the style that is screaming+fantastic guitar shit+good vocals Go Trivium!!
Despite what many people who are stuck in the past think, music has always been somewhat dominated by radio. You don't think there were weekly throw-away songs back in the 80's, 70's, 60's, or even the 50's?
not being a fan of a7x i still have respect for them... i guess they play alot around with their image... all in all it still is one other good example... i mean even trivium gets hate and i dont understand that at all... not 1 bit :D they r like us.. metalheads that made their dream come true...
he's not really coming off as a douche to me, he's just being brutally honest, he's even admitted for him screaming can only go so far. i like how he talks about how he feels about music fans, i mean we're all music fans but according to some people there's a "use-by date" on every band.
I also agree trivium kick ass and i dont think there anything like metallica and trivium can play guitar very good and matt heafy is my guitar inspiration.

Lol avenged sevenfold suckkkkkkkk
He's a BABY in this video. Omg lol
Matt Heafy is my hero! :P
I think I just fell in love with him, after only 2 min of hearing him speak. Thank you Matt! I look forward to Those days to come!
Absolutely LOVE Matt Heafy.
It's just not fair that he's so insanely fit AND can do the guitar shit AND sing like a perdy angel when he tries.
Love Trivium x
The Song At The End is: Trivium- Pull Harder On The Strings Of Your Martyr

ember to inferno was released when he was 17, and he wrote that kickass stuff with 15/16/17 who knows
Thanks man, totally, and aside just from Maggots, metalheads in general of both genders and all ages should be cohesive and overall an army of free thinkers and free spirits. "Screaming can only go so far.."
Very True.
I remember seeing Trivium in 2004 at “Harpos” in Detroit opening for Children Of Bodom & Amon Amarth was first then Trivium then “COB” & I’d never heard of Trivium & they were only 18/19yrs old & just crushed it.
Matt is talented for his age, and you can only wonder what he will be like in the future.
Absolute legend, simple as.
I'm glad they act real, most bands try to put on a hard act that they can't back up and have egos out of the roof.
the world needs to be enlightened...hells yeah. Lets get those glory days back
Fuck yes \m/ ALL of Trivium's albums are, can't wait for the 2013 album!

Wise words from Matt
trivium didnt sell out, they just moved away from the metalcore sounds towards the 80's thrash sound, which is what they wanted to do from the beggining, but matt couldnt sing so he screamed instead.

Im not a Trivium fan, but they are doing a great job for metal future!
It's ridiculous how young of a band they are but they are so professional live, probably the most professional band I have seen live besides megadeth and Lacuna Coil. All 3 of those bands are the best to see live.
Awesome
trivium= 1 of best bands of all time, cos they evolved, they actually tried new things that workd an sounds amazing, and they experimenting, nd it sounds nothing like metallica at all, theyr an amzing band, cant wait for thier nu album

Thats why they toured together! \m/ Slipknot have achieved huge success, they packed Madison Square Garden with metalheads, thats monumental. And for a MODERN metal band to do that? Thats just raising the bar.
Have you seen some Trivium video's on here? It's obvious Matt and the boys from Trivium play to have fun.
great vid !

Facts hey? so you think matt was going for the queen sound when creating in waves?
matt
I have matt and corey's autographs I hung it on a picture frame and put it on my wall. I didn't meet them I had to convince someone who was going to meet them to get one for me.
Isn't that the same place that jack black starts the intro vid to Brutal legend?
totally agree.
hes really wise for a young guy :)
if only trivium was heaps more popular in Australia, actally, would be better if Metal dominated Australia, i'd die for that day.
Listen to this guy!!1
dude in the crusade they do really sound like metallica, i mean if they aint copyin them they're wearin there influences on their sleeves. lol. another thing thats bad for a musician to do is to completely reinvent himself after he has gotten big, im supprised trivium have kept any of their old fans, they changed loads, not only no screaming but the way they write there songs has changed and a completely different style is there, cant wait for the new album woo!!

Holy shit. Matt Heafy has a point.
@pillarsofserpents Errr, I'm no trivium fanboy, but...He's still a pretty humble guy.
I AGREE
yea everone has a secondary music style, mines punk rock, like NOFX and Pennywise but this is the real shit
I have the same Emperor shirt
"This guy can scream better than the guy next door can scream" he has a point here i dont get that death metal olny screaming something that nobody understands and people say that they are good singers ,ofcourse the song has to have screams but not all of the song and Trivium just do the style that is screaming+fantastic guitar shit+good vocals

all in all it still is one other good example... i mean even trivium gets hate and i dont understand that at all... not 1 bit :D they r like us.. metalheads that made their dream come true...
Back when his hair was badass
he's not really coming off as a douche to me, he's just being brutally honest, he's even admitted for him screaming can only go so far. i like how he talks about how he feels about music fans, i mean we're all music fans but according to some people there's a "use-by date" on every band.

@queenslander47 yeah they start to call them posers or their fans scene kids. jheeze the metal genre has been so divided these days its stupid.
Lol he didn't listen to classic metal until 6 months ago...what a n00b
