Charlie Rose is a fake. Poor research! The Orthodox Church was not founded in 1054 AD. It IS the original Church.

Frankly what the western media says is not factual or important. Christ started the Orthodox Church. The heterdox western protestants(this includes Rome) doesnt have any connection as like Islam its man made & seeks to have God fit the times & (false) desires of man. Im just watching to see what the EP says. Rome, Canterbury or the Mecca isnt my concern as a Orthodox Christian

Good Afternoon Archbishop. That's how my parents raised me to Love and Honour. I raised my daughters that way too. I have always believed. I was surrounded by Nuns. I went to a private Convent school many many years ago. I Love the Church. And the Almighty. God bless you.

As a Catholic, I agree with ericd1277 and coleridgeboy. The Orthodox Church was not founded in 1054 A.D., but in 33 A.D. It's a shame that Charlie Rose and his team did not do the proper research. I enjoy and I have much respect for Charlie Rose's show, so I'm very disappointed.

      Roy,
      You are mistaken.
Michael Cerularius, split from Rome because of a personal decision.
This Cerularius (born c. 1000, Constantinople-died Jan. 21, 1059, Madytus, near Constantinople), was Greek Orthodox patriarch of Constantinople from March 1043 to November 1058
In 1054, when Pope Leo sent three legates to Constantinople to negotiate an alliance with the Byzantine Empire, Cerularius obstructed Constantine’s and Leo’s efforts by refusing to meet with the legates. In the midst of these negotiations, however, Pope Leo died, and one of his legates, the French cardinal Humbert of Silva Candida, took advantage of the papal vacancy to retaliate against Cerularius. On July 16, 1054, Humbert entered Constantinople’s cathedral, Hagia Sophia, and excommunicated Cerularius and his clergy. In response, Cerularius convened a Holy Synod and excommunicated all the legates. Constantine’s efforts to effect a reconciliation failed, and the schism between Rome and Constantinople was final.
Before then, it was just one Catholic Church located everywhere. With the successor of Peter having the recognized primacy over the entire Church by the words of Jesus founding His Church on Peter.

If not for the apostasy and historical revisionism of the megalomaniacal and heretical bishop of Rome------there would've been no split. If not for Rome's additions and editing of history *they* (Rome) wouldn't have split from Holy Orthodoxy. *They* caused the conditions that perpetuated division... *not* Orthodoxy. Therefore, it is Rome who split from Orthodoxy (not the other way around). Roman Catholicism are the first protestants. They forged documents to make it appear the Patristic Fathers had always submitted to the supremacy of Rome.
If it was true-----why the forgeries?
If this was true, why wasn't this manufactured-primacy mentioned in ANY of the council's?
Their heresy of 1054 had the seeds of the reformation sewn in its DNA, thus leading to the fruition and germination of Luther's reformation.
In the contrast of Holy Orthodoxy: Catholicism is protestant and from her, flows all of the tens of thousands of protestant sects. Catholicism is the Whore of Babylon and Protestantism is the daughters thereof. May she repent and be granted salvation.

"Rome has spoken. The case is closed." - St. Augustine of Hippo ("Sermon 131," 4th century A.D.)
"The blessed Apostles, then, founded and built up the church in Rome. They committed the office of bishop into the hands of Linus. Of this, Linus, Paul makes mention in the Epistles to Timothy. To him succeeded Anacletus. After him, in the third place from the Apostles, Clement was allotted the office of bishop." St. Irenaeus ("Against All Heresies," c. 180 A.D.)

The Christian quarter of "Constantinople" should be granted an independent status like that accorded to Vatican City, but we all know that the Turks (as "good and fair-minded" Muslims) will never allow that.

@AGDIRGIA "Even the Catholics agree that they changed the Faith with their dogma of continuous revelation."
This is not true. It's called the development of doctrine. Nicea and the Trinity is a perfect example. If we are to take your logic and run with it, we could say that the council fathers of Nicea believed in continuous revelation also. But no one in their right mind is going to claim that. Thus your charges against Catholicism are fallacious.

Where is the argument for the claim? Just because you put a label on me, proves nothing. Give an argument showing WHY I am a fanatic. Ecumenism is anathematized. Your soul has been harmed by the "politically correct" and "religiously tolerant" attitudes of our society.

"(Pope) Stephen . . . was the blessed Peter's twenty-second successor in the See of Rome." St. Jerome ("Against the Luciferians" c. 383 A.D.) I understand why you may disagree with some of our doctrine but calling us "Heretics" Is just wrong. I hope one day the schism will end brother and once more we could all be united again.
