I was with my ex for almost 5 years. We loved each other so much but we were both at such difficult places in our lives. For so long we had nothing but each other. And at least we had each other. She was my very best friend and I think about her ever single day. We’ve both matured, grown, and found success in our own respects. On one of our first dates we drove through south Texas cornfields, watched the sunset from on top of an oil well, and made a fire by a river - just after sunset, thousands of fireflies came out along the banks. It was pure magic. Peaceful and serene, we cuddled and told stories under the stars. I can still smell her hair and feel the kisses on her forehead. Idk why I’m writing this but I want you to know that you’re not alone and that, if you truly love someone, the best way I can think to honor them is to become the best version of yourself possible - and tell no one… just let them see when it’s time. I wish I could say it gets easier but 3 years in I think of her every single day. I miss you, beeb
@@d1ehl. crazy - I knew *immediately* that I had lost the love of my life… I was also struggling with ptsd, on tons of meds, broke my spine, became addicted to fentanyl, my puppy died, my ENTIRE apartment was robbed of everything (including all of my military uniforms/body armor/memorabilia) by some bitch I was trying to help 2 days before Christmas, then I got arrested 3 times in 8 months… And, honestly, what I can truly say is have tried to learn to cultivate a sense of gratitude for everything in my life even the negative - and gratitude for ever having had the experience of that true friendship-like love along with everything I learned from it… the heartbreak almost killed me but it made me a better and completely different man (just my opinion obvi). It also put me on the alchemical path to trying reconcile my place in the universe and “know thyself”. I went thru and continue to go thru the process of challenging my beliefs about reality, truth, and life - the reason I acted and felt the way I did. The reason why I often thought I would be better off dead. There’s a quote by Marcus Aurelius in his work “Meditations” that resonated with me after suffering through this love-lost along with the experiences of going to Iraq and Afghanistan in the Army, twice, at age 19 and 25 The quote is: “ *Choose* not to be harmed-and you will not *feel* harmed. Do not *feel* harmed - *and you haven't been.”* For me, that boils down to life being about perception… none of us get out of here alive, but we live life worried about dying or worried about doing anything besides living out the greatest possible ideals of our dreams. Since I made the decision to no longer be ruled by negative emotion and trauma (and after long periods of self-reflective work, as I mentioned) My life has become infinitely better - subjectively and quantifiably. I’ve been sober for a good minute (>1yr); I was able to avoid spinal fusion surgery thru meditation and yoga; I’m off all of my psych meds now for 3.5 years and was able to start my own business - my lifelong dream… 99% of us conform or don’t even have an idea of the possibility of something greater. We spend our lives working for someone else’s dream OR, we get so wrapped up in the trap of mainstream society or ‘trying to change the world’ that we don’t focus on changing the only thing we truly have dominion over, ourselves - being the change we want to see. if we look, we can find beauty all around us and God/Universe/Source/Unity within us. We can be/do/want anything we desire if we master our minds and strive for good. We can also just as easily wallow/waste/hate/hurt/destroy ourselves and others. Idk, again, why I was compelled to write all of this… I usually don’t comment at all. It’s my sincerest desire that you’re able to derive some type of positive meaning from all of this and take the next step on your personal path to growth and happiness If not, I hope you enjoyed a story.
