What do you think will happen??
Due to seeing the Seanchan, I dont think they will combine books 2 & 3 as much as many are claiming. They clearly weren't at Tear and it would be too big a change to bring in the Sword that is not a Sword to Falma. Would be too full IMO. If they we're going to combine the books that way, the Seanchan wouldn't show up will later I THINIK! All theorizing.

Unless you're a psychopath or u wanted to kill your wife, he's not going to be able to date any one within the next 5 to 10 years let alone a few months. Maybe they can do a perrin Nd faile buddy relationship where at the end of the series they get together, but if they write perrin out of his trauma by season 2 or 3, they will be shooting them selves in the foot in terms of writing

As much as I want to see all this fleshed out like this, I don't think season 2 will end with falme, but with tear. I think they'll condense book 2 and 3 into one season. Judkins did say that they're planing arround 8 seasons for the whole story so they'll have to condense a lot. and the way s1 ended seems like they're setting this up. Rand and matt will go towards tear and the girls and parrin will go to falme. so both plots would happen simultaneously

    • @phantompyro920
      @phantompyro920 Před 2 lety +14

@Day I don't think it's quite as bad it may seem, depending on how they go about it.
Do I think they'll mess parts up? Hells yea.
However, if you break it down...
Mat, at the white tower now, ends up being healed for various reasons.
Eqwene and nyneave go to white tower with moraine.
Loial and perrin set off to hunt the horn (meet elyas).
Rand follows his dreams and the hinty hints from sexy lady.
Eqwene, nyneave, and Elaine go on black ajah hunt
Moraine and mat go after them
      Seanchan invade tear
Eqwene taken captive by seanchan, nyneave and Elaine rescue but get caught by black ajah
Mat and moraine meet up with perrin near tear and get horn back.
Mat goes after women, and seanchan attack. Blow horn, save women, attack the stone
Rand who meets aiel infiltrates stone and battles be'lal
Moraine saves Rand with use of balefire and then Rand kicks crap out of ishy at cost of almost dying.
Lots of action, minimize the insane traveling between the two books.
The biggest loss is bayle domon, but he could easily be in tear instead of falme.
Or they could minimize falme itself as where the girls are captured, but then moved to tear where the rest recuse their asses.
Remember that lore wise there's actually a strong reason to advocate the mesh.
Seanchan have a forsaken meddling in their top brass, as does tear. Tear hates the one power, and the seanchan leash channelers. If any wetland group would welcome the seanchan with open arms, it's tear! "Here, put this heretical woman on a leash, we don't trust the one power"
And they've already set a precedence for discrimination of channelers in tear when they did the flashback for suian with the dragons gang on the door and all that.
Tear and falme gonna mix somehow... I'm calling it

I Partially agree. I do think that Rand is going to Tear, but, I think that he will go to Tear with just Selene. I think Rand Goes to Cairhein where he meets Thom. Thom teaches him the basics of the great game and swordsmanship. Perrin follows Rand to Cairhien, meeting Elyas on the way. Selene convinces Rand to go to Tear, and he leaves without telling Thom and Perrin. Thom and Perrin instead have to go to Falme. Lan and Morraine discover that Rand is going to Tear, and get involve there. Possibly, with the amount of one power going around, the image of the dragon and forsaken fighting is projected above Falme, which scares the Seanchan and allows the heroes of the horn to be victorious.

    • @smol6193
      @smol6193 Před 2 lety +3

Rand and Mat in Tear? What is supposed to be Mats role? Just a tagalong. Perrin going to Falme alone makes very little sense. Unless they are going to make him sound the horn and give him a dragon banner. And if the horn is not blown in Falme, how would the Seanchan be defeated? And how would the girls escape? Well if they decide to go down that path, there has to be host of changes that arent even needed imo. It will be like creating an entirely different storyline just to fit 2 books into 1 season. And if they try to combine 2 books I guess it will be just like season 1. Rushed and forced.

@Day I think there's a little confusion on my part regarding ur take there.
As far as I know, neither hurin nor Elias where darkfriends. So merging them wouldn't be that hard. I actually like that idea. Hurin plays a bit of a role in displaying the darker side of rand, but there's plenty of that, and nixing it to connect him to perrin in the form of elyas taking care of hurins tracking duties wouldn't detract much of anything besides getting rid of a piece of lore about a special power outside of channeling that fits nothing for the series narrative overall.

Hurin's biggest impact as a character was to contrast Rand's behavior and morals from book 2 with Rand from book 12 and then book 13. It did a pretty decent job. They could probably achieve something similar with another character, tho. Loial, Perrin, Mat, Lan, someone new from season 2. With Hurin the valuable thing is Rand hadn't met him for 10 books, so there was less buildup and graduality to their visceral change in interactions (respect vs fear, responsibility and trust vs mistrust and cruelty)

My hunch is that they’re going to combine books 2 and 3 this season. Rand running off on his own mirrors his plot line in The Dragon Reborn and I could see the writers just combining Nyneave, Egwene, and Elayne’s book 2 and 3 tower plot lines (hopefully their training doesn’t feel rushed). Because of the Seanchan, it seems that the season has to end in Falme so I’m not sure how they’ll make that fit with the Stone of Tear. If she is indeed merely shielded and not stilled, that oath holds, and also after how that scene was set up you can't just make the oath not important.
I think she'll instead spend first half of the season going by herself (with Lan) to find a cure, kind of like she went researching to Vandene and Adeleas in book two, but more important characters would be introduced instead; Verin, for example -- you didn't make prediction for her yet

Liandrin being head of the black ajah and being a composite of most of the black ajah characters as well as getting access to the amyrlin seat makes sense if the show wants to condensate the plot as much as possible.

Moiraine sending the Red Ajah against Mat should be a huge disaster, especially if they keep Liandrin Black Ajah. If Liandrin gets Mat, she uses compulsion to interrogate him and all of Moiraine's plans are ruined.
In fact, if they're keeping the Black Ajah plot from the books then Moiraine trusting any other sister leads to disaster. The whole reason why Moiraine and Siuane are so secretive and tries crazy desperate gambits is because they couldn't trust anyone.

If they are planning eight seasons and the first was any indication, to me it looks like they’ll have to fight the Last Battle at Dumai’s Wells. They really want to condense two books into each remaining season without making it feel rushed?

    Re: Matt looking different
I think they might, they could have a scene where they cure him properly using a circle (like in the books) & as he experiences what he did in the book his face will morph. That assumes the original actor is available for the scenes, otherwise it could just be a fall or being blasted by a red Sister & some bandages.
Re: the Red Sisters not being able to really hurt Matt
With all the changes that have been made I don't think you can say attempting to gentle a non-channelling man would have zero consequences, it's entirely possible they will have changed it.

I don't remember you saying about him being stabbed in the last episode, it seemed bad so it's entirely possible he'll either be sidelined off to a stedding to heal or off to the tower I suppose.

    @timothypearson9728 Před 2 lety +4

My predictions assume that they will squish books 2 and 3 into Season 2 as we have been told.
First things first, Loial gets healed by Nynaeve, then he joins Perrin who leads the hunt for the horn, developing his wolf powers. Perrin runs into Gaul along the way. Maybe he meets Elias along the way, but I assume the character is cut. He definitely meets Faile along the way. Perrin meets up with Mat, Egwene, Nynaeve, Elayne, and Galad in Falme for the big showdown.
Fain delivers the horn to the Seanchan, but is taken da'covale by Turak, who suspects he is a dark friend, establishing that the Seanchan aren't a faction of the shadow, just a new brand of fucking evil. Suroth frees him at some point so he can escape Falme when it goes to shit. Season 3 he goes back to the Two Rivers to Do Bad Things with the surviving Children.
Moiraine sends Egwene and Nynaeve go to Tar Valon for training. They run into Aviendha along the way. Training begins and the girls meet Elayne and her brothers. Mat is apprehended trying to steal back the dagger, gets Healed properly. At the tower, Egwene/Nynaeve/Elayne get commanded to hunt Black Ajah, and follow black sisters that go to Falme (like the Tanchico plotline). Mat and Galad join them to keep them safe, I think Gawain stays behind to set up for the eventual tower rebellion. Egwene is captured by Seanchan of course.
Moiraine and Lan go their own way because of the ban on the Oath Rod. They find the reclusive sisters Adeleas and Vandene, study prophecies of Dragon, and Moiraine decides that Rand must go to Tear. Off they go to find him.
Rand wanders and gets caught up in "Selene" shenanigans, Tel'Aran'Rhiod, etc. He attempts to track her to Carhien, gets wrapped up in Daes Daemar, meets Thom there. Moiraine and Lan also find them here and tell Rand to go to Tear. Rand doesn't trust her from madness, but then Selene finally reappears and also tells him to go to Tear, so he agrees without telling Moiraine the real reason why. Lan begins training Rand how to use his sword as a form of discipline, and a way to stay sane. Thom and Moiraine romance begins, hopefully done much better than in the books.
The finale covers both Falme AND Tear. Maybe some setup / cliffhangers in the pre finale episode where they've already begun some of these events.
Battle of Falme: The squad splits to free Egwene and recover the horn, somehow succeed at both. Again, since this is supposed to be like Tanchico plotline as well, they could have a three way fight with Seanchan and black sisters, and they also find the male a'dam and Dark One prison seal along with the Horn. While they are fleeing Seanchan, they run into a force of Children who see Perrin and begin to charge them. Mat blows the Horn, Heroes drive back both the Seanchan and Children. Galad sympathizes with the Children (also sees Perrin go wolf mode and is like THAT'S EVIL), and joins them. Season 3, they split up: Perrin/Faile follow Fain to Two Rivers, but the rest use the Ways with Loial to rejoin Rand when they learn of events in Tear. Elayne gets to meet the new King of Tear, bow chicka wow wow, then peaces out to hunt Black Ajah with Nynaeve.
Stone of Tear: Aiel attack the Stone of Tear, Rand takes Callandor and battles some Forsaken, Selene helps him kill them to keep Rand's trust. Rand also breaks Moiraine's shield with Callandor with advice from Selene. Selene departs after some tension when Moiraine identifies her as Lanfear, plus Rand has a Lews Therin moment and says some shit about Ilyena, but she'll be back in disguise in season 3 when they go into the Waste with the Aiel.

People are hoping for it to recover, but besides the fact that they started filming before this season was even fully released, the first season set this on a clear course to veer away from the original story drastically, and the finale seemed to be going out of its way to make readers unable to predict the future any more than non-readers. I believe they only stuck to the source material up till now just enough to claim to be an adaptation in the most technical sense of the word, and now they’re going to take this completely in their own direction because they can.

My concern for season 2 is that they are going to mix falme and tear. That they'll move where the seanchan landed and they'll combine the falme landing/battles with the taking of the stone.
The reason I'm worried they might go this route is because rand is on his own right now, much as he was when he started his trek to the stone of tear after facing ba'alzamon in falme.
Replace be'lal with ishamael and u can recreate the epic fight at the end of book 2 within the stone instead.
This would bring out the aiel, the seanchan, a few forsaken (since we would see lanfear manipulating rand while he's alone, rahvin and ishy in dream world, and so on).
They could even do the horn blowing with Mat, tie in the capture of eqwene, nyneave and Elaine by the black ajah mixed with eqwene's capture by the seanchan, and route the seanchan in a big battle while rand and moiraine take care of ishy.
Anyways, that's my concern. That will see book 3 mashed into this season very blatantly. As you said, it's a much simpler narrative, and as such they may decide to combine the traveling to falme with the traveling to tear.

Drop the little detailed scenes and what remains is this cliche story that noone will care about and the show will get dropped. We need the "magic", we need the exposition, we need Wheel of Time to stand on its own with its beautiful world, cast, cultures and magic system.
I am afraid the show writers will ax half of what makes WoT great. Merge Falma and Tear and season two is almost inevitibely mediocre from the start as result, becuase you have to ommit almost everything that makes Great Hunt such a powerful book that poeple adore. The characters can still end up in places they are supposed to, however it won't be as believable and well done as it is in the books, where these characters have extensive arcs. Also, we CARE about what happens, because we get to spend a lot of time with them, we learn about the world and we *experience* it. Also, as a result of rushing it, they might need to ax several foreshadowings too.
For example, for a lot of people in the community, flicker flicker flicker is the "climax" of book two, it is THE event that you remember and think about. In this warped abomination of a show Lews Therrin Telemon in the Age of Legends went from a leader forced into a desperate Hail Mary play to try to contain the evil of the Dark One after a team of researchers - lead by Llanfear, a woman as it happens - created the Bore into the Dark One's prison in pursuit of power in the books, to a reckless, short sighted moron who needlessly destroyed the world in the name of his own ego after he ignored the express warnings of a woman who is clearly depicted as an inherently wiser, better person than him, forcing women Aes Sedai to pick up the pieces left by the idiocy of male Aes Sedai, meaning that in this version of the tale Moirraine's speech about idiot, arrogant men breaking the world through their own foolishness in the first episode is supposed to be the truth of what happened in the Age of Legends, further denigrating the intelligence and moral character of Lews Therrin and the other male Aes Sedai even before the Taint manifested.

Yep, if it hadn't been for all the other changes I might not have believed they would be that silly & change so much, he was called the Dragon Reborn instead of just the Dragon, he wasn't the leader of the Aes Sedai & there didn't seem to be a war where was a general, they made the woman in the scene the leader instead (Tamyrlin Seat, instead of wearing the Ring of Tamyrlin) & finally that he was directly warned he risked tainting the male half of the source & causing the breaking.
It's like they haven't read the books or understand what a massive change this is & how it undercuts who the Dragon is or how it will necessarily change later interactions, ie if he wasn't the leader then he has no prior claim to the land. There was just no need for any of these changes & they will change make things worse later on as they change more to cover it.

Oh man, Daniel is being WAY too logical about this. I notice it in the comments too. These aren't predictions of what the show will do, these points are ADVICE for how Rafe can save this train wreck of a show with some grace. Like, what makes you think there's going to be a Falme? Or a Caemlyn? Or a healing of Mat? Or that Rafe will try to follow the books AT ALL? We have been shown almost nothing in the first season that suggests he cares. I don't think he's going to suddenly start getting canonical, I think it will only get worse. Liking the optimism though! You guys are funny!! =D
Here's what I predict: 50% of show time will be devoted to characters and things that didn't even exist in the book, or only to a minimal extent. Know how I know? Because that's what they did in the first season. He'll throw out half the book, replace it with his own stories, and rewrite the rest in a worse way.
Here's more of what we can expect: warders crying over warders killing themselves, because those warders are actually very sensitive souls. Lots of warder suicides and they all cry over their gay lovers meeting this end. There will be at least 3 episodes on it. LOTS of gay warder sex. Mark my words!!

Yeah, I think they could have him wander the blight for the first episode, have him speaking with Ishamael and hearing Lews voice and then found by Lan at the end, have him training a bit with Lan in the next episode, to start building up their relationship a little, before joining the hunt with Perrin and (hopefully) Loial, and if that's the case, then I think his meeting with Elayne, Elaida and Morgase could easily happen in Barthanes' party (they're family after all) and his encounter with Lanfear along the way south. The main issue is that Elayne would have to get to Tar Valon in time to meet and befriend Egwene and Nynaeve. Maybe it could be established that they get lured out of the Tower because of their power and become friends then. But I don't think they can have Rand not meeting Elayne until Falme, he is part of the reason she befriends Egwene, and if they meet in Falme then she is meeting with someone she already knows is the Dragon Reborn, not a random farmer (or noble). Similarly, Rand's encounter with Elaida is important to set her up as an antagonist before her coup.

A few things have happened that have made me a bit baffled by the hostile reactions of some online, like the moment they cut from Rand in the finale was very very VERY obviously so they could do it at the end of season 2 instead (whereas the books have him do effectively the same thing twice). Daniel's been very balanced which is fantastic, but every criticism I see in the comments I take with a huge grain of salt now. I think some people just like acting superior.

  • @Tcheera
    @Tcheera Před rokem

So just as a comment from someone who read the first book a really long time ago so I was sort of struggling to remember details -- I knew Mat's abandoning them at the gate wasn't quite right and they had done a lot of rewrites due to the actor leaving. When she sent the alert to the red ajah since I was working without the extensive glossary and details from the book, I interpreted Moiraine's warning that she sent to them very differently than you did.
In your video you say that she was warning that he would be coming back to steal the knife (and the one thing I did remember from the book oddly was that he couldn't be away from it, so I'm not sure if that's just why I didn't interpret it the same way?) -- but essentially before the big reveal of who is the Dragon, they were all asking and debating with one another and they asked Moiraine "What if it was Mat?" and she dismissed his leaving as being a good thing anyway because the prophecy was that the Dragon prophecy was unclear on what side the Dragon would choose (dark v. light) and that Mat not being there was essentially better regardless because at that point he was already dark.
They emphasized also probably more than any of the various colors that the red ajah were the ajah that would still men with power. I took her warning sent off to the reds specifically as "If you find him and IF he's the Dragon, you have to cut off or kill him immediately" as the backup plan in case none of the four that remained were the Dragon. I thought it was just in context a big rewrite with his character leaving to make his leaving make sense, and also to be the big backup plan for the confrontation since for first time watcher's we're not supposed to know who the Dragon Reborn is just yet. (And I guess we're pretty lucky in retrospect that they were able to adapt a story for Mat -- it would've been pretty difficult for the series if a couple of other key actors, especially Rand, had been the one to leave the show). I do think the actor was good, but all in all it's unfortunate, but thankfully it did not ruin the entire series to have that particular character leave. But anyway, that was just how I interpreted this rewrite -- since it was a warning to the red ajah. Because there wasn't really any way they seemed otherwise invovled in the story with Mat and the dagger that would make sense, but it would make sense if you wanted to keep up the appearances that he was still in contention as a potential dark contender for the Dragon.

    • @step4018

As you say I don't think the show would give us a "banished" scene only to have Moiraine go back there so soon... Technically if Moiraine was stilled and not shielded she would not be bound by that oath any longer but its also book lore that Aes Sedai do not like being around stilled sisters so Moiraine would not be welcome at the Tower in any case.
For me Caemlyn now would only make sense if Rand was with them and honestly now he is the Dragon and not a farm boy I'm not sure of that either. We could get it as a cold open / flash back scene though. I'm still guessing that Elayne will already be at the Tower when Egwene and Nyneave arrive.

To complain about a poorly made product that I paid to watch is rather legitimate. Not only have I paid to watch this show, but I also paid for every novel written by Robert Jordan that I own. I also pay the bill for the Internet access through which I watch the show and make these comments. 5) Egwene only resurrected Nynaeve because of their lovy hot sexual feels, it has nothing to do with the Power and it will never work with anyone else, those two can keep resurrecting each other ALL NIGHT LONG though.
    6) Rand and Perrin and Mat all become Egwene's warders and Egwene will make them do sexual things together, and they will like it, suggesting that all straight guys should try gay stuff and they will like it too.

    8) There's still no Elaine.
    9) There will never be an Aviendha.
    10) Thom's girlfriend (Mina?) will become a main character and will outclass all the boy characters by being really cool while they are lame, in fact Thom might die so she can take his place.
    11) We will learn that men aren't crazy because of a taint on Saidin, they're crazy because they're men. End.
    12) There's no Saidin and Saidar, they're the same thing, to say otherwise would be sexist.

Disappointed there's been no use of or mention of a quarterstaff in S1 as they need it for the iconic Matt scene.

What Moiraine did in book 1 was a patch fix anyway, as was the replay at the end of the book.

Please explain how Matis to steal a knife which is currently in Fain's hands, stabbing a few friends while strsling a certain horn?
Then how can Moraine return to the White Tower? She swore an oath NOT to return till called.

Yes and Yes. Though they could do the Mat scene as a cold open flash back to explain how Fain has it. Not sure it works or why the show audience would need to see it... I don't like flash backs to explain things and the show has been using them a lot.

You predict Moiraine will return to the White Tower? there is the issue of the oath sworn on the oathrod. Though there is a loophole in that I suppose, she swore never to return HOME, it didn't specify home as the White Tower. With Aes Sedai, the truth you hear might not be the truth she says. The Devil is in the Details.
And seriously, they way she did that, their friendship (and in this version love for each other) is supposed to be a closely held secret, noone who heard what she said, and the way she said it wouldn't understand exactly what was going on.

I think a Red Ajah ambush could happen. Creating Mat’s dislike of Aes Sedai. But I think a possibility is that they push forward his visit to the Tower of Genji.. either running from the red sisters or after having been treated by them. Comes out looking different.

Soooo the read along.... uuuhm I might have read 8 WoT books too much since you paused it o.O
I'm still super excited for the next read along videos because book 5 and 6 were 5 star reads for me (So was book 12 but from your tier list video I know that we don't agree on that one. ^^').
Also, I can't believe I'm only one and a half books away from finishing The Wheel of Time. Thinking about this makes me excited but also really sad because it got a place in my heart for helping me through very hard times over the last montgs. I just really want to thank you for creating this channel and giving us this amazing content. Without you I never would have started to read this series and I am so unbelievable thankful for you talking about it on your channel over and over and over again until I finally picked it up and fell in love with it.
Sorry for any mistakes, it's not my first language ^^'

Could they maybe bring the two rivers-white-cloak-perrin-plot early for some place for perrin to go? Since they hinted at that in the first white cloak scene where the whitecloaks talk about going this direction since moraine said there were trollocs there? I thought that a convenient hint to show to the audience 'hey, they are already going this direction! And then they mess up the two rivers!'
But it was just a guess. In addition to thinking that they maybe split the 3 boys up earlier than book 3.
