I love the way you don’t insist that the people you are dwelling “react” to your work. I know it’s the standard model and sometimes I wish I could see how happy they are, but honestly, they shouldn’t have to be displayed on the internet to get the help they need. She may not say it but that doesn't change the fact that these homes are unhealthy AND disgusting. Depression piles up on its sufferers but the conditions become so extreme that the filty in the house CAN kill the inhabitants.
I'm certain that these people do not have children because I also suffer from depression (and this is absolutely no comparison) but as much as I don't want to get out of bed or even go to work some days, I and my son deserve a healthy home and good personal care so I swim upstream against the weight and despair because I loathe clutter and filth. These people are clearly unbothered by clutter and filth, it's not solely about depression.

I personally have had instances where my living environment got really bad as well and I just couldn’t bring myself to get up and do it. I have lived with OCD, anxiety, depression, and ADHD most of my life. Sure people think “oh people with OCD are supposed to be clean freaks, but that backfires in a way. If I cannot do a perfect and complete job right now, the task is then paralyzing and I cannot do it. Combine that with my ADHD and the depression & anxiety and you can see why the roller coaster of extreme manic cleaning vs being unable to function happens. I then invert into my self destructive behaviors and shame cycle which makes nothing better. Having an angel like this to help make the task smaller and more manageable to maintain without public shame by those that don’t understand is a Godsend. I know it would be for me in my bad times. This woman is an angel walking the Earth I am convinced fully.

I still have his little teeth too, I can't bear to part with them, now that he's gone. We are not discussing a bout of dysthymia! I’m going to take a wild guess that you have never experienced severe depression. It is completely debilitating, unrelenting and yes this level of desolation can and MOST DEFINITELY does contribute to such dire living conditions.
Evidently, you have never endured major depressive disorder. Just keep reading and you might learn something.
If you knew the struggle of how physically draining it can be to use the muscles in your face to smile. Let alone the energy to stand up to get to the bathroom, brush your teeth or hair. These are just a few of the physical hurdles.
The brutality of the mental side of this disorder is incomprehensible!! Death starts to seem like a cozy warm blanket.

I'm slowly pulling myself out of my depression house. It wasn't ever this bad but was very cluttered and neglected with only the bare minimum of cleaning done so I could function. Today I am sitting with my front windows wide open in my ground floor flat so that everyone can see my beautifully clean bedroom and my nice tidy office. My home is by far from finished but I get real pleasure from the parts I've achieved so far and I chip away at a little more each day. Watching your videos has already helped me change my life substantially. This week I got my bathroom so clean after procrastinating for so long, I made a timed game of it like you did in one of your videos, and I felt sooo proud of it after. I cleaned away months of muck in half an hour and after I felt so good and realised it was much easier than I thought it would be. Depression houses happen I think because we are exhausted and overwhelmed and the jobs feel so much bigger in our heads than they actually are. You have shown that things that seem impossible can be achieved, and that there can be some real pleasure to be found in cleaning. I took delivery of a new vacuum this month and honestly it felt like Christmas day, I was so happy watching my carpets come back to life, I just wanted to play with it! I guess what I'm saying with this wall of text is thank you for giving hope and joy with the work you do, and thank you for showing us that nothing is ever as bad as we think it is xxx

Watch your videos help me and motivate me to push myself to start the cleaning, I'm not finished yet, I try my best and do the laundry and try to pick things up so I can see the floor. Because progress is never linear what I find better and more helpful to focus on, is that you set the bar higher every time. That your current "rock bottom" is higher than the last time. And to evaluate that not only by judging one area of your life, but your life as a whole. You might be for example having a setback in cleaning your house, but at the same time you are more productive at work and exercise more. One step at a time 😊
I wish you, the homeowner and everyone who is in a similar situation like us the best of luck and a lot strength and courage for our journey!

Now I get how things can get bad like this and how hard it is to do even the simplest things (like shower) and how overwhelming and impossible it feels when things get out of control. And how embarrassing it is and how the last thing you want to do is ask for help from people you actually know because of the shame. I hope you find the help, I know the feeling. I hoard items (not garbage, but materials like plastic containers and fabric and paper-cutouts) and I have found help, eventually, but the lady is about to retire.
The lady I had before that, was réálly judgemental and would just walk through the room and throw away anything she could get her hands on, whether it was embroideries or a hairband with rhinestones or a pair of scissors. Anything she felt was dirty (which was interesting, because although my room is very full, it is also very clean and most things are in boxes.)
I used to run after her and just cry and ask her to stop. It took a lot of time before I realised I was in the position to say; 'Go away!' and when I did, I felt a lot better and got the new lady, that promised to álways ask before she throws anything away. And she has.
Because of her, I learned that it can be enjoyable to (slowly) search through the items and find things to donate. Sometimes the resolution is to buy something new, which (judgemental) people feel is weird. They tell me; 'Stop! Don't buy anything new!!!'
But if I buy a new pair of flip-flops, I can donate 3 pairs that I don't fit anymore (but still wear) and I can throw one pair away that díd fit, but was too damaged and old. And keep one pair incase I need them. (Instead of having 6 pairs laying around that are all uncomfortable.)
And, knowing how wrong things went with the first lady, it is important to always keep remembering that I am the boss in the house and that if I want to keep something, I can. And if I want to let go of something, I can do that as well. It gives me peace to know that and I can let go of items much easier once I know that nothing will be secretly thrown away.

I just adore how you used only cat shaped scrubs on this house! You're so thoughtful! Love the work you've been doing!

I wish I could be so excited about cleaning as you are. I suffer from major depression, and live with my mother who's also got depression and bordeline hoarder tendencies. The last time my house was presentable was in 2018 while she was in the hospital for a few months. I was on medication, and with my brother's help cleaning, it looked a house again. Since then we've been back in our old habits of her accumulating useless crap, and me being too depressed to do anything about it. On behalf of your customers, thank you for your help with the hardest part: getting started. And thank you for not being judgemental toward their difficult situation.

As someone who has been there, this makes me feel warm and fuzzy. And especially warm and fuzzy that the comments aren’t a cesspit of hate, but are people wishing well for the girl and her beautiful feline friend. I truly hope things get better for her ❤️

What makes situations like this so difficult is that once you're out of your depressive episode, the mess becomes crippling, and you cant function around the mess, but you cant seem to keep up with it either. People like you are ANGELS, and to her friend who stepped in to get her friend help - thank you!

I have also had depression from a very young age and while my house has never looked anything close to this, I can definitely understand how it would spiral out of control to this point. There are days, weeks, months where all I can manage is the bare minimum, it breaks my heart to see some people are so depressed they can't even do that. It is very real, and very misunderstood. I discovered your channel 2 days ago and somehow became addicted to watching your videos. I am amazed by your positive attitude and willingness to help these people. It means more to them than just having a clean house, you are giving them some of their dignity back and taking away an immense amount of shame. You're just such a beautiful person inside and out! Sending love from New Zealand ❤️

I promise that cat is SO MUCH HAPPIER with all that space to play and explore. Kind of bought tears to my eyes.

Im so impressed with how you clean and have an eye for what is important to the person! Some people would have just thrown out those soda bottles behind the figurines or removed the sticker on the drawer. I'm really glad to see you try and leave the space not only cleaner but also more enjoyable by keeping things and installing the lamp

Watching these has really put a perspective on my very own depression. Knowing that I CAN change the way I live and I CAN pick up that piece of trash and walk over to the trash can. I CAN brush my hair every day. I CAN wash my dishes. I just moved into a brand new apartment at 25 years old after living in my childhood home that I completely destroyed my room as a kid. It was bad. Having ADHD and depression, it's VERY hard to have motivation!
Starting over really helped a lot and makes me want to keep this place as clean as I can. Even when I have my dark days. Depression is very often overlooked and judged and hard to admit. For some reason cleanliness and hygiene become very difficult for us at times.
This makes me want to try even harder!!
Thank you so very much for doing this. I hope you know how much you are helping everyone's home you enter and each one of us that comes across your channel. This has changed my views a lot even in the few videos I've watched 💖
Edit: awww seeing the kitty come home wss so sweet! I'm hoping to bring my kitty over in the next couple of weeks. I miss her so much 💖

I'm 10 years old in the USA and I also suffer from really bad depression, I totally relate but luckily my grandma and mom help me! But when your an adult I bet it's really hard to keep up because no one can really help u, your all alone. I think it's just your scared that people will make fun of u, share gossip, etc. But I just wanna thank u for being there for people in need of help 🥰

It made me soooo happy when you said she kept the cats litter box very clean. I think it is that way a lot of the time with depression, it’s so hard to take care of yourself but much easier to care for someone else (like your cat). Having someone to love is so important ♥️ bless her

Sometimes I see all the appliances and the good furniture that the person had bought for their home, I feel sad. Obviously they had a good life at some point and circumstances arise. I hope whoever this is recovers from their mental affliction and experience happiness again.

I think that too! We all deserve kindness. We have no idea what others go through.
