I have 250k in debt in a job market is saturated and the working conditions are horrible and I lost passion to work for it. I’m so weak and depressed.
BUT God has forced me on my knees in prayer and I never prayed so heartily before. I now rely on Him to get me out of bed and thank God for step I’m able to take. God will provide.
2 Corinthians 12:10 That is why, for Christ’s sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong.
I was privileged to be a student of his at Regent College. There were times when it just seemed as though he were channeling the Spirit of Christ effortlessly...full of love, mercy, wisdom, holiness, and never showboating or flaunting his intellect. I aspire to be like him, which, after all, is merely aspiring to be like Christ, as his gifts and compassion were all from Him.

A wonderful relationship of mutual trust is what the Spirit is desiring from us. I’m relating so much to his testimony, We submit and trust in fear and trembling, weakness is more useful to the Lord than strength.

My Dad, upon graduating DTS, moved our family to Bristol in' 74.
I had the privilege of speaking with Dr. Packer on a few occasions though being just a lad at the time.
Hearing his voice again is heartwarming indeed.

Please, brothers and sisters, read “Knowing God” by J.I. Packer. 2nd best book begins the Bible. It should be a must read for all Christians. The book includes some great questions for each chapter. It will change your life.

This is so true. The Lord has taken me to weak places. I didn't understand at first, but I understand better now. Thankful to be a son.
I can so relate...recently i was weak in so many ways for 4 months...pain levels at 9 or 10,
Tired, discouraged , psin out of vontrol....my salvation was that I constantly sought Jesus and
and read His word.
In quietness and trust is my strength Isaiah 30:15.

J.L. Packer is a 'GEM' of a man. He speaks with power & authority, despite his modesty. He has a peculiarly delightful sense of humor. Never gunning for a belly laugh, merely sharing a pleasant aside. I am thankful to be able to enjoy the bountiful fruit of his Godly obedience.

much better than the man-centred psychology in many mainline churches that say you gotta be positive and name and claim your strength because god isnt glorified in your weakness or sickness. however the holy spirit says the complete opposite. god resists the proud but gives grace to the who? strong, healthy, positive thinkers, blab and grabbers? no to the humble. true humility sees our weaknesses and runs to the source of strength, god.

Willing become weak before Him.
I just saw a commercial on youtube with this man speaking. It could not have come at a better time. I was in a weakened state due to exposure to a lot of the negativity in this world (primarliy the crap you see on TV and the internet) etc. It reminded me of times when I've been less then best or behaved poorly or found myself feeling low. I'm not a bad person, but none of us are perfect. Sometimes, for reasons we can't fully explain, we feel down.
This just gave me strength and I'm thankful
despite our sin that separates us from God, praise God that Jesus' atonement has given us a way to Him, for all who might believe, an eternal spring of joy and strength coming from His Spirit :)
A very humble spiritual giant has left us. May his example and teachings live on for all of us to follow.

A great theologian. Definitely want to read this book. When you read books from him such as "Knowing God", you are left with a sense of wonder of the Lord. Now, he must be rejoicing and marvelling in the presence of the Lord. Thanks J.I. Packer!

J.I.Packer is a giant among mere Christians. When I read his classic 'Knowing God', my paltry faith was made strong and supportable. I grew more grounded and & started to have a better understanding of perseverence of the Saints.
I look forward to this book. Oh that Christians of the four corners of the earth could benefit from Packer's clarity. What a blessing.

This dear humble and very wise man was a true gift to the Body of Christ. I love sharing time with him through his books and these videos. A thorn in the flesh has made for many great servants of God and His Holy Word.

I am looking forward to this book coming out. Recently God has been reminding me of how weak, frail and unable I am to do anything in the Christian life apart from Him. We should all know this but for some reason I rarely remember!

So true. I may be weak, but that’s right where God wants me to be. What a marvelous mystery, that his strength is made perfect through my weakness. Weakness is the way to the strength only found in Christ.

@151. right on bro, i just turned 60 and im getting weaker which allows me to seek the strength of the holy spirit as hes promised me. i got sexually abused when younger in a christian, so-called enviroment and god has kept me because it should have caused me to leave god. however im saved because he chose me and my path as my sovereign lord and my sufferings allow me to minister those that are and have suffere3d as he has promised through what he said through paul. 2cor1:1-7.
