    Description from Board Game Geek:
    5-Minute Mystery is a high-intensity, deductive, mystery game in which players work together to find a culprit hidden in a line-up of suspects.
    Just moments before the Museum of Everything was set to unveil its newest exhibit, the priceless MacGuffin, some criminal snuck in and stole it! Now it's up to you, a team of detectives, to crack the case, find the culprit, and recover the missing MacGuffin.
    Start by searching for hidden symbols in each room of the museum and find the matching symbols on the codex. Once you've found all of the symbols in the room, you’ll unlock a clue about the culprit.
    Match the barcode of the clue tile against the culprit tile to discover valuable information about the crook. Does the miscreant have an umbrella? No? Well, that eliminates the shifty Mr. Braxton, doesn’t it? Quickly sort through the suspect cards in your hand to narrow down who the criminal can be.
    You’ll have to make it through as many rooms as it takes to figure out exactly who is responsible for stealing the MacGuffin, but remember, time is not on your side!
    Case files change the rules to each time you play, making every game a new challenge.
    Do you have what it takes to be the detective to crack the case and solve this five-minute mystery? Only time will tell!

    Oh... I did not know this was a hidden objects-based game... nor that it wasn't 5-minutes like their previous entry.
    I'll thank you for the info and remove that from my wishlist.

      Not a hidden object fan eh? That was the part that got me interested in the game. But not everything is for everyone. And as a person who has created hidden object games in the past, I understand it’s not for everyone :)

    I guess replayability only lasts as long as there are fresh cards?

    • @BoardGameCoffee
      @BoardGameCoffee  Před 2 lety +2

      It’s done in a way that you won’t know what you’re looking at the same card that you saw before. There will be a multiple instances of the same image with hidden symbols within them. I asked the same question when I first saw the game and it works The way they have done it

    Im interested in these type of "light" board games with awesome art. Any others you reccomend? My style is more like king of tokyo, quartz, 5 minute dungeon etc

      Hmmmm good question. There’s a new game coming out soon called Sagani which is really good and light. I also consider Space Base a light game but it plays longer.

    How does the game stay fresh when with enough plays you’d just memorize the symbols on the cards?

    • @BoardGameCoffee
      @BoardGameCoffee  Před 3 lety +1

      Good question! The background images used are repeated on many cards. Although the images hidden inside them are in different locations. So although you might recognize the image of the dinosaur display at the museum, it doesn’t tell you Where the objects are hidden. Does that make sense? The pyramid looking like simple won’t be always hidden in the same spot.
      And the hidden object aspect of it is only part of the game. It allows you to get a clue which you then use to try to determine who the criminal is. So if the entire game was based solely on the hidden object aspect, I could see what you were saying being a problem. But it’s only part of the formula

    This game sounds super interesting.
    Spider-man in the background looks like he just got some bad news, like Screech on Saved by the Bell when Zack and Lisa kissed. Screech was super down about it. Then he got mad and acted like a jerk. At least his life turned out ok as he was the guidance counsellor at Bayside during Saved by the Bell: The New Class. In real though, not so much.
    If lovin' Saved by the Bell is wrong, I don't wanna be right. Still hoping to get a copy of the SbtB board game from the early 90s.

      SO WE SAY Y NOT Funny you mention that. We thought the same, and aside from any videos that we might have prescheduled, we won’t be making any more Expresso videos. We were trying something new, it’s not really our style :)
