9000km hiking through Europe - Pre-Hike

- Next week I will start my European thru-hike that will hopefully take me about 9000km from Tarifa in Spain to the North Cape in Norway.
This is my first video in English so please don't judge me. You may keep any grammatical mistakes or blooper :)

I am planning to go from Nordkap on E1 this summer. Hope I can make it to Oslo or Stockholm and continue next year. Hope the virus won´t stop me though :( Godspeed and safe travels.

Yes but I have to come back to the Pyrenees, GR11 is waiting for me :D

cool , ich werde mir das alles ansehen , wen ich ja nur mal Zeit hätte , aber ich wandere auch jeden Tag bei der Arbeit , was ich aber nicht filmen darf, ich kontrolliere die Gleise, ich habe seit 15.11.18 bis heute auch schon 3600km gemacht privat und arbeitend ;-)

hast du das schon geschafft oder bist du da noch dran? ich laufe pro Jahr 4200km bei der Arbeit , ich laufe die Geleise ab und mache Kontrolle jeden Tag 15-23 km und etwa 1000km mache ich in der Freizeit beim Wandern
Dude how do you find/ research these trails?
Hi Alex, the proto-type rain pants from GramXpert that you own - are they seam sealed and fully waterproof or are they just water resistant? They are very lightweight at 69g. I own a pair of wind pants (Millaris Pants) from AS Tucas that are 67g. They are not waterproof but are water resistant.
I have just received my GramXpert eLite quilt in Apex 200. Can't wait to try it out. I'm quite impressed with the brothers' handy-work. It's exciting to follow these guys. I try to support the small cottage companies as much as I can.

Hey Brian, the pants are not sealed, so you would call it water resistant. But even on a whole day in rain I didn't get wet on the inside. If you get wet, than just because of your sweat, the material isn't breathable at all. For more details just write them a mail, they'll answer pretty quick :)

I'm planning a very similar route but i don't want to go through whole Germany, so after Switzerland i would like to go Czech republic, Poland, Baltic states, Finland, Sweden and Norway.
But i am having a lot of trouble planning the routes, how did you plan and find all the E trail parts and GR and other trails? Any resource to plan all this would be so helpful

I had a little issue with my shin, so I had do a little break, but I’m back on the trail again and I’m currently hiking trough Switzerland. I got the gpx tracks from Spain to le puy in France from a friend who did this part already. The parts from there to Denmark is all on the ways of saint James so it’s easy to get all the gpx tracks on the internet. I created the first part of Norway by my own and the second part is just the e1 (e1.hiking-europe.eu), you can find all the informations you need on this side. Hope It’s helpful ;)
hay bro good luck i am just in the very early stages of planing my though hike of Europe. this video was grate for planing what im doing as i did not know about the E trails and it just opened my eyes as to whats posable with the knowledge iv gained though watching this video i now thinking of taking the e3 from cadiz up to the Belgium border them jump onto th e11 to rotterdam then the e9 to outside hamburg then the e6 up to lapland. one question i would like to ask is how you are getting around the laws regarding wild camping in Europe as in some countrys they can be a little harsh i.e Germany

I know wild camping is kind of forbidden in most parts of Europe, but no plaintiff, no judge. I just camp where are no houses near and try to set up my tent late and get up early, leave no trash, no fire and you should be fine ;)
hey man where do you find all the e trail resources to plan the trip?
hay bro I cant speak for wanderbursche but I'm using www.wandermap.net its based on bike trails and the E and GR trails across Europe. for a basic idea of what I might like to do with regards to routing. but closer to the time I start my trek I will be buying one of the more expressive GPS units and then exporting the GPS data.

It took 10 month and there are several videos on my channel from this trip ;)

Hallo Wanderbursche, Auch für den Reupload als Directors-Cut gilt das selbe: Ich beneide Dich dafür, die Tour im Ganzen gehen zu können. Hab mir mal Deine Packliste angeschaut. Bin gespannt auf deine Tourberichte und die Erfahrungen mit den Prototypen, die du dabei hast. Ich überlege gerade, ob ich mir nennen ZPacks Rucksack für die kommende Saison zulegen soll. Aber UL-Gear aus Europa wäre natürlich auch was feines. Wie ich Deiner Packliste entnehme willst Du unterwegs erstmal nicht kochen. Nimm aber für Spanien und Frankreich nen Korkenzieher mit, sonst verpasst Du das beste.
Wie sieht Dein Zeitplan aus? Ich hab von Finisterre bis Freiburg 17 Wochen gebraucht. Durch Deutschland 9 Wochen und nochmal 12 Wochen von Lübeck bis Trondheim.

Hallo Markus, auf die Prototypen bin ich auch sehr gespannt, wie sie sich im Dauereinsatz schlagen werden. Packs Rucksäcke sind sicher gut, allerdings ist der Preis etwas hoch wie ich finde. Falls du dich dazu entschließen solltest den Rucksack von gramXpert zu bestellen kannst du ihnen gerne eine grüß von mir ausrichten ;)
Korkenzieher wird eingepackt :D
Einen genauen Zeitplan hab ich nicht, grob kann man aber sagen 1000km im Monat, mal mehr mal weniger, bin recht schnell unterwegs normalerweise.

Ich bin auch nicht gerade für meinen Kurzetappen bekannt :-)
Ich glaube für nen Thruhike wäre der Spätsommer oder Herbst ideal. Ich denke ich werde mindestens noch 12-16 Wochen bis zum Kap brauchen.
