I truly hope DQ12 turns out well for the sake of the memories of Toriyama and Sugiyama. If it's anything like DQ11 it will be a masterpiece.. and a sequel? Now that's awesome!

I am still Dreaming of a sequel for the best RPG on the PS2 that nobody played Rogue Galaxy sadly Level-5 seems to have forgotten about it and their plans to make an erotic game is really dashing my hopes for the future.
The major reason I didn't beat it was because you could get one of the best weapons early, and once I did, I lost all motivation.
I don't think that the lack of follow-ups to their earlier oeuvre (Dark Cloud, Jean D'Arc, Rogue Galaxy) has anything to do with Level-5's internal decisions. Those are titles published by Sony and owned by Sony. If you take a look at the list of PS2 games that received re-release on PS3 and PS4, you will notice that Level-5's titles from then all made the cut; that's because Sony actually owns them outright and treat them as legacy Sony titles. Unfortunately, since current Sony has a Japan-stinks attitude, don't expect them to ever follow up with their legacy IPS (including Legend of Dragoon, Arc the Lad, and Wild Arms). The best you can get these days is getting them added to PS+.
I am with you on this one!!! I absolutely LOVED Rogue Galaxy! But the game I am waiting on right now from Level 5 that I have been waiting with great anticipation for is DECA POLICE!!!

I fully expect the Switch 2.0 to be backwards compatible with games for the current Switch. Nintendo would be shooting themselves in the foot if they didn't make it backwards compatible.
Think about what company you're talking about here. Nintendo is one of the greediest most litigious companies in the entertainment industry as a whole along with Disney. Any way they can squeeze another penny from consumers is fair game to them. I wouldn't be surprised if the next Nintendo console can't play previous gen games.

As a big time Disgaea fan I was initially concerned about the NISJ rumours. But even if they close doors in the end, no one is going to take away what they did already. The gaming scene needs to constantly move and evolve and even if that sometimes means that a series you love is going to die, it is better than stagnation (which I don't think they hit just yet, but I was talking in general).

Dragon Quest 11 was my first real introduction to the series and I loved every moment of playing it and so did a friend of mine! Me and her played nearly the game had to offer. I personally got loads of stuff in the game and leveled all my chars to 99 and finished the post game boss :D. I truly hope 12 comes out as big of a hit as 11

It's exciting to see Korea get serious about their gaming industry, as a fan of Manhwa (Korean manga, basically) I think there is a lot of great storytelling coming out of Korea that I'd love to see expanded on with more RPGs and narrative-based game titles in general. Hey David, hope you've recovered by now, but if you are still struggling with bronchitis I have good news. Get a good humidifier, fill it with purified/distilled water that you add pure salts (epson, pink Himalayan, or dead sea) and create ocean-like water vapors to breath in while you rest. Pure salt vapors kill off bacterial infections in the throat and lungs. My wife recovered overnight the last time she had bronchitis. Hope this info helps.

Megaton Musashi is a ton of fun and another great game from Level 5. But it was marketed almost not at all (I only heard about it from this channel a month ago).
It's grindy, especially at endgame, but it's so much fun to play.

i have a feeling that DQ12's main charater will be a Daughter of a Blacksmith who made famous weapons for various indivisuals, after he vanished, the Hero must find her Father & stop a unknown Army known as the Burnt Ones.
Dungeons of Hinterburg sounds like a different perspective on what Hero Land was.
Thankfully, I've beaten all of DQXI Definitive Edition save for the superboss of the game. Hoping to take him out soon but he is a doozy! Makes Yiazmat from FFXII: TZA look like child's play compared. :o

NIS is the odd company out in that the American/Western Branch is actually fairly successfully, but the Japan half is a complete Trashfire.
Kind of the inverse of what usually happens.
I kinda think it'd be a cool and a potential stopgap if NISA did what they did with the Rhapsody and other Japan only past titles, and go popping back to the PS1 and other older consoles to bring some of those over as I doubt they'd have to pay too much for it.

“Dread Delusion” looks like something I’ll have to check out! Like you said, reminds me of “Nostalgia” on the DS, just with “King’s Field” as the inspiration! And ❤’d “Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night”. One of the best MetroidVania’s of the past decade & a love letter to “SOTN”. Great gameplay & aesthetics also. “Beyond Galaxy” looks interesting also! And high hopes for “DQ 12” & “DQ 3 HD-2D”. Sad about NIS! If I win the lottery, I’ll buy you NISJ & NISA! You brought me JRPG’s no one else would! As for KRPG’s, I say bring them on! I was married to a S. Korean woman for about 8 years. And their tv & films are excellent. I would see their games & “Manhwa” (K. Manga) and wish I could read Korean because they looked so interesting! Would love to see their past & future takes on things like turn-based & action RPG’s!

Limited run have a statement to IGN 3 days ago explaining why they used CDRs. It seems like a plausible reason I'm not an LR fan boy, but I think you should've included this in your report... Especially since it was 3 days ago.
The couldn't find a way to press disc's that work in all versions from all manufacturers. But the disc company found a way to emulate the old 3DO pressing tech using cdr burn techniques. They even tested it on 5 different types on 3DO drives. But they're putting a hold on all 3DO titles until it's fixed.
I'm not saying they're good or bad on this one specific thing, I'm just saying this is what they said. But I think everyone should read the statement on the IGN site.
LR has done great things in the past, and also a bunch of shitty things.

The Unicorn Overload armor break doesn't matter, the localization would have censored it anyways, no matter how much skin is actually shown.
As for NISJ doing worse, not surprising, they don't have access to as many games as NISA since JP devs don't need them for localization.
With Disney's track record of late, I'm really nervous about a KH movie. But here's hoping for the best. Unrelated, thank God the legend of heroes franchise is NISA and not NISJ

Switch 2 is good in my opinion with that news! It means I'm likely to get it once I see a Year 1 review to see if this is true! I'm guessing this will still apply to Switch Digital Games as well! Frankly Backwards Compatibility is a SMART option to pull! Hell PS5 at least did a smart thing doing the same with the bonus of a small fee for PS4 games that have PS5 version if you got the PS4 on Disc. Frankly the fact they HAVE not that many that AREN'T PS4 as well is holding them back and gives me a WEIRD feeling the PS5 was presented TOO SOON if there is still so many PS4 version with LITTLE Exclusive to the PS5 (FF7 Rebirth FEELS like it was build for the PS5 ONLY for example. Though it was build PUSHING the PS4 back on Remake makes it easy to assume Rebirth was just an UPGRADED Remake engine! Not condemning it, just giving an idea that pushing for the next gen soo soon may have been a BAD move on Sony's part. They got rid of Microsoft at least. But that just leaves PC and Nintendo. Meaning they need to get their SHIT together with the censorship and removing the PARASITES ruining them with Social Justice before people go over to Nintendo who's "E for Everyone" BAD IMAGE has made it SLIGHTLY easier to not get COMPLETELY targeted by that crowd (well they HAVE, but their getting them UNDER control compared to Sony at least) Steam Deck doesn't apply since I count it as just PC so any reference to PC can include Steam Deck, but nothing on it's own! Frankly PC will always be King. But no one who isn't on PC really CARES and I'll tell the PC "Master Race" (AKA the JERKASSES among the PC crowd, making this CLEAR so they don't try to pretend their NOT this and are like the SANE members of a group to avoid criticism) no one cares about as much as no one on Nintendo cares about the Sony fanboy/girl, as much as no one on Sony cares about the Nintendo/PC Fanboys/Girls! The only thing your doing is ANNOYING people including those on your own side! They just never say it because some sadly don't want to be outliers or to the ones I REALLY respect. Really hope to try DQ12 and hopefully the HD-2D DQ3 (DQ3 was my TRUE first RPG that I never knew WAS my first! FF7 was my EXPOSURE that what I was playing was an RPG and got me FULLY onboard looking up the ENTIRE genre! But DQ3 and Pokemon Blue were my ACTUAL first RPG and have a TRASHED place in my heart of FIRST GAMES IN A GENRE! Only exception is SPORTS because well, Sports games barely change for me to CARE much, and I tend to PLAY the sports outside...well use to! World's getting too fucking DANGEROUS, or at least my neck of the woods to be out longer then NECCESSORY or NEED TO DO! Lucky I was PREPARING for this as a Kid! I never thought I would NEED all those tactics I used against BULLIES growing up. But now it's used in dealing with NIHLISTIC Sociopaths with little care for the life of others! Frankly they prefer areas WITH people which I tend to avoid or not stay in very long. And never take the same route more then TWICE in succession. Mix up makes it HARD for trackers to guess or even HIDE their tracking you from yourself! Hopefully will have moved on from there. But it does worry me about my Sister, brother, Sister's husband, other sister, sister & BIL daughter, my niece and other sister's sons my nephews though! Best I can hope for is the chaos avoids them as it avoids me! We're all smart to the game! Sans BIL who I hope Sister gets him in the groove of it, but we ALL grew up in this environment when it was COLD as in not AS deranged as it is NOW where it's HOT now! I'm always up for more sci-fi/fantasy fusion RPGs. Especially since Sega is frustratingly uninterested in doing anything single-player focused with Phantasy Star. Those games could and should be held up along with Dragon Quest and Final Fantasy.

That Chinese controller manufacturer isn't a licensed Nintendo third party, so they have no first hand information. At best they are getting rumors leaked to them from some kind of source outside of their company, which may or may not pan out to be accurate. At worse they made it all up for marketing purposes. Either way I am steering clear of them, as I wouldn't trust them for a second with a warranty return after this.
Any Switch 2 leaks should be taken like a grain of salt 🧂 all. Hype responsibly. I'm hyping responsibly.

Isn't the title for Dragon Quest XII supposed to be "The Flames of Fate" ?
Chosen Flame of Destiny is the Japanese subtitle. This is common for DQ games; XI was titled "In Search of Passing Time" in Japan and "Champions of Fate" in some European countries.
There were rumors (with screen shots of development, otherwise I wouldnt have been bothered by them) that Square is taking Dragon Quest towards being an action RPG and not keeping it traditional. If they do, they will ruin it. We already have one Ego-driven vanity IP masquerading as a "legacy homage to what came before" with FF.
When someone wants a certain style of game, they look forward to those IP's that carry that genre. Yet thanks to Square, it seems that rule doesnt apply to traditional RPGs. Not only is this disrespectful to fans of that genre, its NOT the same series when this happens, but a glorified spin off pretending to be a mainline entry.

The RPG market is saturated beyond belief at the moment; people are getting incredibly picky about what they choose to buy. There's no possible way to play everything, so playtime is becoming more valuable, and far too many 'meh' titles being released.
I'm not surprised that companies are starting to feel the market shrinking; even AAA RPG studios like SquareEnix are realing back on their projects.
Hino level 5 sounds more like he meant something like, “our studio is known for kid-friendly games but I want to make grown-up games.” He probably didn’t realize how it would sound when marketed and translated to broader/ western audience. Hino is quite daft and blind to western norms imo. He also said Ni No Kuni 2 would be “more grown up” than ni no kuni woww. Was it? Ofc not. It had an older US president character and nuclear war flashbacks…. But wasn’t too grown-up. Was it? He comes off as a horrible marketer and someone kind of tone deaf to market trends which can be either both pro and con. He follows fads and doesn’t seem to know what’s what a lot of times. His changes to NNK2 were idiotic to be blunt. If he’d kept the NNK1 mechanics maybe he could’ve caught the palworld hype, but instead he followed wrong trends, followed mobile and killed off his westernization branches responsible for the best game translations I’ve ever seen in NNK 1. Wonder what happened to that translation team often. He’s daft and kind of an inept ceo imo. Messed up yo Kai watch too. He chases too much and hypes his own weird tastes over health of his company imo. But credit, he kept his small company alive and l5 made some iconic excellent games, so maybe I’m wrong/harsh. But saying, the article seems like something missing in translation type of thing.
I don't know why Falcom fans need to buy NISA games, when those people are butchering Falcom games' translations for years.

Disney killed Junction Studio and LucasArts for reasons I don’t understand, I’m not getting excited for Disney made games.
It just shows that NA gamers are more interested in these Falcom games. They should just close NISJ and focus on the Western gamers for these. I have been buying up these games as I always wanted to play them and their CE's are priced properly. If the Japanese audience isn't interested then just focus on NA. They can still add Japanese subtitles for the people that would import it. This would save on lack of sales in Japan and only base it off Western sales.

I've been done with LRG. They have had some shady practices for quite some time now. There is literally only one game I want that they announced years back and that is the Turbo Duo Castlevania: Rondo of Blood. But I am worried that'll be a burned disc instead of an official pressed disc. Not sure why this is taking so damn long to go up for order. They keep saying on their Discord that it is still coming and hasn't been cancelled. I honestly think it has been cancelled and they just want to keep people interested.
Furthermore...
I hope that Bloodstained gets a definitive physical copy. I have the base game and would like a copy with all these updates included for game archival purposes. It would look great in my collection.
Finally...
I'm glad that DQ12 is still happening. Glad we got an update to this game. It sucks we lost two great key components to the franchise. But with that said maybe installments after we can start getting more arranged soundtrack for staple DQ music in future releases. SE has been tied down by contract of the original composer that they couldn't alter any of his music and it was always the same (aside from the XI definitive edition with Orchestrated music). BTW... Where they hell is Dragon Quest Builders 3 and Heroes 3?!
The one time I thought about buying a LRG release, it was the Jurassic park collection. Then I questioned buying a collector's edition for 5 30 year old games, most of which are considered "just okay."
Beyond Galaxy Land looks cool, though I wish the phantasy star games got actual sequels (not online ones.)
Phantasy Star IV was my first ever RPG and it was so unique, no other RPG I played has felt like it with its weird setting and creepy gross looking monsters. Also it did something FF7 was famous for long before FF7 did it. Major spoilers ahead for both Final Fantasy 7 and Phantasy Star IV:
One of your team members, Alys, dies, so when Aerith died in FF7 it wasn't the first time I lost a party member I liked. Gotta give credit to Phantasy Star IV for being the earliest RPG I know about to have the guts to do that.
Final Fantasy 4 had one death (which to be fair makes sense since he was so overpowered) and also had a ton of fake out deaths leading to switching the party throughout the game. By the end of it you figure out none of them actually died, except the one I said previously.
Phantasy Star 4 isn't first to do that. Phantasy Star 2 nei also died in the game story.
@@solandras666 For what it's worth, it's also no wonder with the death storywise. It was rather clear the character wouldn't live much longer regardless of what happens.
Also, FF5 did it again, and this time the guy wasn't already on death's door.

Nope. Not gonna buy NIS titles just to support Falcom. Falcolm is doing great and if NISJ goes belly up, and takes NISA with it, there are other localization alternatives. Heck, it was just from Cold Steel III forwards that NIS did the Falcolm localizations.
There are too many good games 😂😅
I wouldn't be surprised if NIS kicks the bucket in Japan, their games are so formulaic/generic. The Disgaea game is fan driven and is losing fans rapidly.
