  • As an HGV driver, there's not much more frustrating than those that hog the middle lane, especially when we need to overtake a slower vehicle. it's not only thoughtless, but dangerous and also illegal in the UK.

Yep, another selfish person lane hogging.
Those who say it's safer to stay in one lane due to less accidents (crashes) and not change lanes, shouldn't be driving if they can't find it in their driving capacity to SAFELY change lanes.
Once you've overtaken, move to the left, don't go hogging a lane and inconvenience other drivers.

Yes exactly as the very left lane on any road is the normal driving lane and the other lanes are for overtaking or for turning right, it’s ok if you’re in the middle lane overtaking someone in lane 1 but if you’re sat there in lane 2 then people in lane 1 have to do 2 lane changes to overtake you and then do another 2 lane changes to move back into lane 1!

The fact you can't see how it is safer to drive in lane 2 shows you shouldn't be driving.
Lane 1 should be left open for trucks and people to enter and exit hwy.
Lane 2 should be for driving
Lane 3 should be for overtaking
It's a very simple concept and if you don't understand this then it's time to hand your licence in.

The pointy finger is a bit late as it points at the silver SUV instead of the blue clio which actually is the one appearing to cause the issues. Causing obstruction by failing to move back into the running lane after overtaking is a careless and inconsiderate driving offense. It is worth noting that tailgating, agre4ssive driving and cutting in front (which is something that happens a bit when someone isn't as quick to move back into the running lane as another would like them to, is actually the more serious offence of dangerous driving. More frustrating are the "both lane hoggers" that prevent a merge-in-turn from functioning correctly who increase the queue size because they hold some idiotic notion they are preventing someone from so-called queue-jumping. Also the fact that so many drivers insist on being right up the bumper of the car in front instead of leaving space for the vehicle in the other lane to merge, you're making the traffic much worse. Leave them to it, don't get involved and submit the clip to the police. Thats the safe way to deal with it

Doesn’t matter. Both cars are not overtaking. Both should be in the left driving lane.

  • @Topher5035

The blue hatchback is the original problem. I would like to know the speed and speed limit here as another factor. You have a right to slowly overtake at the speed limit in the middle lane more than a speeding driver has to force all other traffic to the left and out of their way. All the traffic has over taken at the very least the video vehicle, and for periods the left lane was blocked by undertakers. The worst driving in evidence is the tailgating, light flashing and undertaking before the lane hogging, which imho develops early in the video for the blue car, and in the last part of the video for the silver car.

It's safer and more productive at keeping the flow of traffic going if you drive in lane 2.
This leaves lane 1 open for trucks and people to enter and exit highway safely while also leaving lane 3 open for overtaking.
Also if you drive in lane 2 it leaves you options to pass a slow vehicle in either lane 1 or 3 if someone is hogging lane 3.

Zero intention... the other driver didn't even bother wait to see their intention. If you count, you can see that if they move over when you say then they will cut the driver with the dash cam because they are only one second ahead. So the moment the driver probably thought about signalling is when they looked in their mirror and saw a car tailgating them. At this point signalling does nothing. I have done this plenty of times to indicate my intention to move over but a tailgater will ignore your signal and just undertake you. They lack patience and brain cells. Better to be predictable and stay where you are and let them break the law so they get out of your way.

I don`t understand the problem? The middle lane is for cruising and other lane is for passing and the lane on the other side is when you are leaving or getting on the highway or is very slow. If you are going to "hog" a lane the middle lane is the lane to do exactly that. If you want to pass YOU go into the fast lane and pass, that is what the passing / fast lane is there for.

    • @kumfyCams
      @kumfyCams  Před 2 měsíci +5

      Wrong, the law is -
You should always drive in the left-hand lane if the road ahead is clear.
You should return to the left-hand lane as soon as you have safely passed slower-moving vehicles.
There is no such thing as a fast lane, cruising lane etc etc, they are all myths perpetuated by those ******* that drive that way, the very same ******* that think if you flash your headlights at traffic lights, it'll make them change 🙄

It's really not worth it as you can't predict what the person in the middle lane is going to do. changing lanes is perfectly safe if you do it properly although it can get pretty annoying if you have to go around middle lane hoggers all the time but then we're back to square 1. you can't look at this video and not see how much safer that entire situation would be for everyone on the road if they weren't hogging the middle lane. just don't be a middle lane hogger and especially don't go 20mph under the speed limit in the middle lane like most of those clowns do lol
