We were super keen for an update as getting the opportunity to hang out with men like Alex from Birrong Automotive is why we started this channel. He has a genuine enthusiasm for cars.
When you pair that enthusiasm with knowledge and skills you get [06.TEEN].
Super clean engine bay, fishnet recaros, a lumpy idle and 500hp this thing is absolutely perfect.
With the Datsun officially having 3,000klms on the clock with the new engine combo, Alex thought it might be time for some more fine tuning and boost adjustment with BP Ultimate before we start on the flex tune.
The result is a stomping 385kw/517hp on 23psi…

Four days after filming this episode Alex's life was turned upside down as Birrong Automotive was completely destroyed by fire. With a draft completed Alex asked that we postpone for the time being. Three months later and Birrong Automotive is up and running in a new space and Alex has agreed to sit down and talk about where to from here.

What a Drop Dead Gorgeous Datto. I had my 1969 Datto for 5 years and 120,000 miles back in the early 70’s. I fully understand when he says he loves just driving this car. My Datto and I were a team pure and simple

Great video. I only met Alex recently after bugging him via text message for over six months about tuning my SR20. The car is with him now in the new shop, and he instills so much confidence in getting it to a good place from always having issues. I know I've finally met the right tuner to work on it. And you couldn't meet a nicer, more welcoming bloke. Thanks for the vid.

1970 510 2 dr REPLACED w L20 FUN as hell. died in a driveway in remote NJ of neglect.
My dream engine for my 510 Wagon! My modified L16 runs great but programmable fuel injection is my goal. May have to make do with a K24DE, they're much more common than the SR here in the US.
Oh man... that car is mad... take me back to my 20s. Had a 16 with a 2lt .. 5 speed twin carbed 16... wanna by one again now to take my daughter for drives in and relive the good ol days

Because when too much SR20 isn't quite enough, throw a bigger turbo on it. Perfectly sound reasoning in my book mate. I love seeing the latest 510 thunder down under.

My Uncle's had a car just like that. He years ago. Too bad it overheated and cracked the block.

That's a proper build,love the sound on boost screamer piper and induction noise for turbo engine sounds super awesome must be those cams not an expert just ranting out loud😅. Awesome video

Totally agree re intercooler mount/panel cutting. Some of these 1600s with a Mack truck front end, monster intercooler, cut to pieces, are a shambles, and ugly af. Keep it neat and discreet 👌👌
