- Dies ist mein erstes Video seit ziemlich genau zwei Jahren, in dem ich euch wieder einen interessanten Ort kurz vorstellen möchte. Mein kleiner Ausflug hat mich dieses Mal in das schöne Weißenburg geführt, wo sich in der Antike ein größeres römisches Grenz-Kastell und eine dazugehörige Zivilsiedlung befand.
Das Kastell ist in seinen Grundrissen noch sehr gut erkennbar und befindet sich nahe dem Zentrum von Weißenburg. Das nördliche Eingangstor des Kastells wurde rekonstruiert und vermittelt einen guten Eindruck vom Aussehen dieser Anlage. Unweit des Kastells können die Überreste einer Therme besichtigt werden. Im Römermuseum in Weißenburg wird neben zahlreichen Funden aus der Region der berühmte "Römerschatz von Weißenburg" ausgestellt, der hauptsächlich aus verschiedenen Metallgegenständen besteht, wie etwa Götterstatuen, Töpfen und Parademasken.

This is my first video in two years, where i briefly show you an interesting place. My little tour led me to Weißenburg this time, which was home to a Roman border fort and an attached civilian settlement during the antiquity.
The outlines of the fort are still visible today and are located nearby the town center of Weißenburg. The northern gatehouse of the fort has been reconstructed and allows us to get a better impression of the whole fortification. Not far from the fort one can tour the remains of a Roman Bath. In the Roman Museum in Weißenburg there are many regional findings on display, as well as the famous "Roman treasure of Weißenburg", which consists mostly of various metal items, like statues of gods, pots and parade masks.

The Roman fort at Weissenburg (German: Kastell Weißenburg), called Biriciana in ancient times, is a former Roman Ala castellum, once occupied by the Ala I Hispanorum Auriana, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site located near the Upper Germanic-Rhaetian Limes. It lies in the borough of Weißenburg in the Middle Franconian county of Weißenburg-Gunzenhausen in Germany. Today the castellum is one of the most important sites of research in the Roman limes in Germany. The site contains partly subterranean building remains, a reconstructed north gateway, large thermal baths and a Roman Museum with an integrated Limes Information Centre.

Wenn man die Augen offen hält und kindliche Neugierde bewahrt, ist auch die heutige Welt noch voller Wunder, Sagen, Schätzen und Mythen. Die Geschichte bietet da eine Möglichkeit einzutauchen, wenn man es sehen will!
Die Welt besteht ja eigentlich nur aus Vergangenheit, das bisschen Gegenwart fällt da nicht auf, von der Zukunft braucht man nicht reden :)

Gerne doch Markus :) Das Altmühltal ist da nicht weit weg, da gibt es viel zu unternehmen, für jeden ist da etwas dabei. Wenn ich jedoch "Rom" lese ist es vorbei, da brauche ich über andere Ziele nicht weiter nachdenken :)

This is a very interesting place to visit. I only saw one Roman building in Paris and that facinated me. When I visit Europe again, I should visit this place. Thank you for uploading it on CZcams.

Cheers amigo! One of the units that was stationed in the fort was the Ala I Hispanorum Auriana, a cavalry unit that originated in modern day Spain.

Thank you! I bet that is the case, it is a country with a long history, too. I have a weak spot for any type of fortification, i simply love to see castles, bunkers and city walls.

Kannst du einen deutschen flachbettwagen im Maßstab 1:35 empfehlen auf dem die panzer transportiert wurden?
PS der vielleicht auch noch einigermaßen bezahlbar ist.
Bei euch ist es auch schön und ich war tatsächlich vorher noch nie in Weißenburg!
Mit Flachbettwagen kenne ich mich nicht so aus, da gibt es aber mittlerweile etwas mehr Auswahl als früher.
Der Thunder Model Ssyl und der T-Model SSyms sehen gut aus, aber für weniger als 40€ pro Stück wird man sie wohl kaum bekommen...
