I have probably played a dozen hours of husky howls for my Kaia Bear, and she doesn't even look, but Anubis' cute little jackal howls got her full attention immediately. 😊

I love this!! We raised and showed Dalmatians in the 1970s. I taught each and everyone of our 27 dogs to howl. We howled at dinner time. I was 12 and Mom was MAD!! But she saw the funny side of it later. I never regreted doing it. It was so much fun to have those different voices raised together. It was great. And so is this. I love to hear them howl.
The luckiest African jackal in the world right there. All animals deserve love and good care. I think he's like "mom I want to relax in bed right now." Look at those ears the better to hear you with.
I feel like he's picked up a little 'speech' from the foxes, making those little noises when you touch him. But after he found his voice some very pretty howls came out.
My Australian shepherd Heidi would do that. I'd ask are we gonna be whiners? Then start doing that and she would chime in. She was very smart and just the most fun dog. She's been gone for a few years now but she gave 14 1/2 years of joy. Merry Christmas and a Happy fox new year!

I like to imagine the reason Anubis communicates in such a way is because the human has no idea what they heck they're saying when howling to him, so he has to respond to everything like a confused, annoyed old man trying to speak to someone with just the weirdest accent. He understands Mikayla, but not his other hooman. His expression at the end makes me believe this even more XD Human: "I got dinner!" Anubis: "Whatcha got?!" Human: "This game on TV is awesome!" Anubis: "That doesn't answer my question!" Human: "Hey Finnegan! Have you seen Anubis?" Anubis: "You're talking to me right now! I'm just down the hall!"
We are blessed that we get to share in his life. Your jackel has such a human soul. And when he talks and singers uts absolutely lovely. I am so proud what you have accomplished in the last years. It seems to be an uncontrollable instinct for wolf-like canids to howl if they hear a howl at some distance.

We had Alaskan Malamutes! We didn't need to teach them to howl, but it did keep the coyotes away. (And the neighbors too!)
