  • These are the 5 apps you need in Switzerland that will make your life here so much easier and better: SBB mobile (best for planning travel via public transport and buying your tickets), your bank app (will save you time paying your bills), Twint (easy transfers to your friends and contactless payment option), Coop Supercard (collect extra points and save more money for your family), Switzerland Mobility (all official trails in Switzerland). These apps are our favourites and we use them all the time.

    I am binge watching your videos, you guys keep me sane because I am also new in Switzerland (tho I do have a Swiss passport, but grew up in Croatia). I had no idea things were so slow here. Everything is done via post mail and it kind of gets annoying at times. Trying to find a job is also very tricky and unemployment office is kind of passive to my surprise. Anyways, did you manage to solve your bank app problem? Because I had the exact same one, and I managed to solve it by changing my settings on google play store, you have to change the country to Switzerland on your payments profile. Keep the videos coming! They're very helpful!

      @OurSwissAdventure  Před 2 lety

      Hiya! Glad that you are enjoying the videos and that they are keeping at least some sense of sanity in you.😅 Where about did you move to?
      Oh my god yes, the endless letters get a bit annoying, and you become a loyal customer of the local post office haha! I really recommend you get one of those chunky folder organisers to store everything in it, since the more organised you keep the paperwork, the less stressful it will be.
      I have not personally dealt with unemployment office over here, but have heard that they could be unhelpful. Wish you best of luck in your job search!🙂
      Yes yes, that's the solution that fixed it.👍

    Well... I recommend, Swiss Map, is the officially App from the government instead of Switzerlandmobility + Swissalert an turn of remove permissions and free up space, Swiss Meteo is a officially App from the government and withe risk for skiing.

      Hi! Thanks for the recommendations. 👍 We love Meteo Swiss and always use it, especially when planning our weekends. Haven't heard about the other apps you are mentioning.
      What's the exact name of the Swiss Map app that you are referring to? I can't find it on the Google Play Store.

      Thanks, will check those out.👍
      From a quick look, swisstopo looks very similar in terms of use to Switzerland mobility, although swisstopo also has the panorama function and is able to link straight to meteo swiss, which is cool. It's a shame the panorama mode on my phone doesn't work very accurately.
      Do you know if it's possible to see pre-made hike routes on swisstopo? I tried to click on the paths which showed in green, but it didn't show up with a full route (like it would do in Switzerland mobility).

    • @ProFettMoHaMett
      @ProFettMoHaMett Před rokem +1

      @@OurSwissAdventure The google approach do not work on Swiss Topo. It is possible to see the hiking trails and draw or track a tour or to share a tour. The Swiss map symbol are use full to know. I recommend you to use the map mod pro. If I like to do a hiking tour then I first do some research and then I do the planning... So I recommend you an other app, SAC. It is quite new and it will get better. My mobile do not support Panorama Mode.

    Thank you guys, just quick question, as im foreigner who going to travel to zurich and if i have half fare card would app take out discount that im entitled to? How does discount works on app? Thank you

    • @OurSwissAdventure
      @OurSwissAdventure  Před 2 lety

      From what I remember, I think you had to add your discount details within the app (you should be able to do it on the web version of your SBB account too (I think)). Or maybe they are automatically on your SBB account, since you'd need to create an account for buying the half-fare. Sorry, I can't remember exactly how it was.
      Once you have the details added, when you buy the tickets, it will show that you are buying them for yourself and if all info is added correctly, the discounted price should show straight away. It will also say that it's the half-fair fare, so you'll know it's definitely discounted.
      Also, are you planning to buy the tourist half-fare card? I am not sure if you already know this, but just in case you don't - there are 2 types of half-fare discount cards, one for tourists and one for residents and they have different length of validity & price.

      @OurSwissAdventure  Před 2 lety

      Hi! Sorry, I'm not aware of any Zurich specific apps for events. But a friend of mine that lives in Zurich says to look for the Facebook expat group - Zurich Expats, and groups in Zurich via the meetup.com (they have an app too) and internation.com . I would also suggest checking out Eventbrite (there's is an app for it).
      As for the restaurant deals, I'm not sure if that exists here.

  • @gabriel-channel
    @gabriel-channel Před 3 lety +2

    I know this message is probably too late, but the problem of not finding the app in the Play Store is because your account is still registered in another country.
    You can check how to change your country in the official Google documentation: support.google.com/googleplay/answer/7431675?co=GENIE.Platform%3DAndroid&hl=en
    I'm not sure if links work in comments, so just in case, google: "how to change country in google play" and the first link will do :)
    PS: the side effect of this is that some of the apps that you used to have in your home country may not be available to download anymore. This doesn't affect apps that you already have installed in your device

    • @OurSwissAdventure
      @OurSwissAdventure  Před 2 lety +1

      Hi! Sorry, for some reason your comment only just has appeared in my 'unresponded' box, but I see you left it months ago.
      You are right, it was saying that thing exactly, but just for Twint. I think for PostFinance for some reason it was just saying that I can't get it on my device or smth. I just need to change my country for google play as you say and try again, since we are not leaving Switzerland any time soon haha.😂
      I think what confused me at the time about Twint was that Mike managed to download both apps without changing the country settings, not sure how it was technically possible..
