  • I've had a few comments asking for a video on how to change the CVT belt on the 950, so here is a short video showing you the steps that it took me in order to get the clutch cover out and what is needed to get the secondary clutch spread, and it and the belt off. I don't actually take it off, just the cover and show you how to spread the clutch...then I explain the rest without taking anything else off.

      Thank you, Gary! I am not at all a mechanic...so I make these hoping it will give people who are also not mechanics confidence to try it themselves. I appreciate your views and the comments, as always, brother!

    I had to change the belt in the field last week. The clutch cover does come out. You were working it correctly. It just takes a bit. The 6M bolt and a set of channel locks are very helpful to applying the new belt.

    Thank you very much justin. Hey what I found to be a great investment is I always have a bottle Jack with me. And brake cleaner. You pop a beed ore ever need to get the back end off the ground on the trail. Hope you have a great time in Mississippi bro.

    walk the belt off the front pulley, you spread the back so the belt drops in the clutch to give slack to go around front clutch

    I need to know if there is a tool kit that I need for charging battery, patching a tire, changing a belt. I am NEW to UTV and just purchased my first CFMoto z950. Your videos are making me feel like I made a good choice for off-road fun!

    • @JustinTheCreator
      @JustinTheCreator  Před 3 lety +1

      Thank you! You made an excellent choice! I carry around a little bit...8mm, 10mm, 12mm, 13mm sockets and wrench, some allen heads....if you want to be able to change the belt, you want a long 6mm bolt to spread the clutch and probably a 32mm and 18mm to take the primary off....you dont have to take it off to change the belt, but its pretty touch without taking it off

  • @rcclassiccrawlers4368

    It’s an easy simple project if you don’t have to actually change the belt out on the trail or anywhere else. CFMOTO needs to come up with a new clutch housing that allows you to easily change the belt out on the trail without having to bring electric impacts and or specialty tools.

    Damnit. I was just considering one of these units solely because I like the fact that they didn't have the Cvt belt looks like I was wrong

    Thanks Justin good to know that it will be somewhat difficult to change the belt in the field. Is there a time like line when you should change the belt every 2 years or 500 miles to make sure this does not happen in the field. Thanks again sir.

    • @JustinTheCreator
      @JustinTheCreator  Před 3 lety

      It really all depends on how you ride...you will be able to feel when it needs replaced...it won't grab as well as it normally does. When you feel that slip, thats when it needs replaced

    If I get a 36 millimeter nut, a bottle jack, extra belt, I should be good in the field but were did you get the bolt you screwed in to the secondary? Where is the tool kit fir this machine located?
    Content wise I think you should do a deep in the bush survival kit (tools, sizes, tire plugs, spare tire or tires since the rims are different sizes and everything else that would be needed to get back home or at least back to the trailer)? Thank you for all the videos your about my same age yet your like a dad teaching me everything lol-

    Do you need the 6mm long threaded bolt if you are taking off the secondary?

    Thank you Justin, You always help.
    If i have no 36mm, i have just the 32 mm and 18 mm .. can i replace the belt ?!
    release the primary clutch (Reverse threading right?) and replace the belt ?!

    • @BlettzaHrekleW
      @BlettzaHrekleW Před 3 lety +1

      Yes you can replace the belt with nothing but a 8mm socket and rachet and a longer cvt cover bolt. On the z950 or z1000 the clutches do not have to come off to change a belt. Most people leave clutches alone to change the belt on these.
      On the zforce 800 , well let me put it this way , it can be done also without removing clutches but there is even less clearance between sheave and inner air guide and it can be done in the field but it's not easy. I've done it and I'm the only one in my over 5 years around Cfmoto to do it and video it being done however it does put stress on the belt so if you are home, use tools to at least slide the secondary out a bit on the 800 model , z1000/950 , leave clutches alone .
