    For someone who drives daily… Many different cars and was talking about the Kia Telluride. You didn’t talk about probably the most important feature of this car and that is the rear wheel drive architecture. Drives much more like a BMW X5 than a Telluride. PS. Love your videos!

    The negatives on this Explorer for me is the plastic oil pan and drain plug. In addition, the oil filter is that dang cartridge type with 3 O-rings.

      @DalHarpJr Před 27 dny

      @AStanton1966 Why would a plastic oil pan and drain plug be a negative to you? Anyone can easily bust up a metal oil pan on a vehicle that wouldn't be taken off road, unless you plan on doing some rock crawling or something, I don't see the concern here!

      @@AStanton1966 And your point is what? The Explorer ST is not a Raptor, and I've never seen nor heard anyone taking their Explorer ST's off road! I have Steeda lowering springs on my ST and I don't ever worry about a plastic oil pan. The ST is about on road performance, not off road prowess. Wanna go off road, buy a Raptor like I did. Tired of driving SUV's and trucks and want something different, then buy a performance car like I did as well! Who focuses on an oil pan and other frivolous things when you should be enjoying the drive instead!

      CX-90/CX-70 will give you a vastly more premium feel. The Turbo S lines are also pretty punchy, though not quite as punchy as the Explorer ST. However, the Turbo S Premium Mazda will come in a few grand cheaper.

    I agree with you Ben. This ST is a tremendous value coming from an owner of an 2022 Audi Q5 prestige. So I absolutely love my car and It cost the same if not more. The Q5 is smaller and is missing a significant amount of features this ST has.

    Appreciate your review but "cloth trim?" It's the fabric speaker cover for the Bang Olufsen's across the front (14 total in the vehicle). More time talking about trucker drive performance and handling than the ST. No mention of Blue Cruise - on top of the steering column, or it's $700 annual price tag. You mention SUVs in 'this segment'. I wouldn't consider Telluride's in this segment - not at 291hp. This is a sport SUV - call it a sub-segment of the SUV market but Telluride isn't here. Durango, Trackhawk - yes.

  • @tspidey007

    Ford needs stop trying to sell this as a 3-row CUV. Families need a 3rd row are not buying this vehicle. They are buying the GM Traverse/Acadia/Enclave trio as well as Kia Telluride/Hyundai Palisade/Toyota Grand Highlander and Honda Pilot. The Explorer’s 3rd row could handle one 3-year old for any length of time. Ford should bring the 3-row Edge from China to replace this vehicle, but not make it in China. They should ditch the EV plans for Oakville, ON and build it there. Afterwards, Ford should redesign the Explorer to a 2-row body on frame SUV. The Bronco doesn’t work for people who aren’t into hard core off-roading. I really hope that Ford management gets its act together soon!

    There is a reason the Kia Telluride is doing so well. Compared to this explorer the interior is like a Range Rover. And big hp is not everything - the Kia drives and handles much better. The only thing the Ford has going for it is straight line speed.

    • @DalHarpJr
      @DalHarpJr Před 27 dny +2

      @husshardan3511 And that's why you get the Platinum trimmed Explorer with the ST engine if your thing is a pretty interior! And for the record, no FWD vehicle has better handling characteristics than a RWD platform vehicle. Who are you trying to fool?! And yes, BIG horsepower is everything..

    • @husshardan3511
      @husshardan3511 Před 27 dny

      @@DalHarpJr actually no. It is not about gussying up the interior w extra stick on bits, the design and build of the Telluride’s interior is far nicer. Go sit in one. If straight line power is your thing, then sure get the Explorer.

    • @DalHarpJr
      @DalHarpJr Před 27 dny

      @@husshardan3511 I actually considered buying a Telluride when they first came out. Yes they have a gorgeous interior, but at the end of the day, I did purchase a 2020 Explorer ST for the powertrain and RWD architecture. The Telluride has a whopping 290HP. The same amount of HP that I had in my 2016 Ford Explorer XLT. In my opinion 290HP isn't enough power to move these big heavy SUV's with any authority. I don't know how you say the Telluride has better handling dynamics than the ST?! I attended the Ford Performance ST Experience when I bought my Explorer. The Ford Racing staff pretty much teach you how to drive that SUV to its limits! Engine parameters, transmission gear selection whether in AUTO or manual mode, braking capabilities, handling prowess on the closed circuit track and through the mountains of Asheville, NC etc. The Telluride is a vehicle for soccer moms, but the Explorer ST is a performance SUV through and through. You have Explorer ST's out here pushing 600-700 HP with mods, so you cant even compare these to be honest! Maybe the 4-Cylinder Explorer Platinum and the Telluride is a better comparison. For the money, the ST is just on another level. So much so, that Acura, Audi and BMW can't touch it with their own performance SUV's unless you spend about $20-$40K more. So trust me, it's about the Horsepower.. Nobody buying these performance SUV's are buying them for the design and interior.
