I keep hearing this thing compared to the CS80. I bought one mostly based on that, plus the of course the poly touch keybed and release velocity. It's in shipment so I'm super excited to get it!!
I hadn't really thought about the Oberheim 8 voice comparison. That is a good way to think about the new voice modulation. I love the new pedal options. I use a pedal as a "mod wheel" in my Hydra so it's cool to see it can be used for a lot more now.
I love Hydra updates! They really care about their users!
Messed around with the voice modulator last night. Wow. This adds a whole new dimension to the hydra, thank you!!
Great update, guys!
Super dope patch Ken! You guys killed it on this update. Great job!
OOOOHH YES…. Was waiting that video
Thanks a lot Flex!!!!
Big salut 🫡 from France,
ViNZ.
Oh wow! Did not know about this until now!
The LFO updates are good. The modulation per voice feature I’m not overly fussed with.
You may change you mind on that the more you use it. Absurdly flexible feature.
6:31 Holy shhh LOVE IT !!!!!
I’m so happy, so happy….
You Da Man!
pretty rad !!
Oh hell yes!
Good to hear from you Ken, have you been on any podcast/shows lately?
no not lately, I have been head down working on this update!
Something like "voice modulation" is found on Behringer Deepmind, Kodamo Essence, and Preenfm, as a "voice count" modulator, where an increased number of active/held notes are used as a modulation input.
Neither are those are very similar imho
The dm12 would be closest but this is a bit more flexible imho.
Did we get release velocity as a mod source for the OG Key and Desktop versions? Anyhow, ASM certainly doesn't cease to amaze!
No, that would require a hardware change
Have ASM finally added the ability to send the arp out from the synth based when taking external midi in? I love the arp to death, but the fact I'm not able to just feed it chords from my DAW, and record the output as midi is always a shame.
OMG... that ring you're wearing with the black stone.
Your real name 'Barnabas"? 😃😄
Hi Ken and thanks for the great video. Please can you explain which parameters Analog Feel changes? It sounds like this achieves the same effect (and probably more) versus setting up subtle VoiceMod per voice modulation of oscillator frequency and filter cutoff frequency?
AnalogFL creates per voice offsets (and randomization) pitch , pitch tracking , filter cutoff , resonance , envelopes and amplitude. It was created after careful evaluation of our personal vintage analog synth collections. Voice mod is a way of giving you even more control and it’s create for experimentation with other mod routings as well unrelated to analog emulations.
@@Fluxwithit Very helpful, exactly the information that I was after - thank you. Suggest you cut and paste your reply into the user manual!
Using the Hydra as a controller for other synthhs, it works super well with the iridium.
I have more troubles when it comes to the Kijimi of Black Corp.
the assignments are all weird
Anyone knows a better controller for that,or if im doing something wrong?
I have a question: Per 2.0, can you now assign one patch to ribbon and a different patch to keys??
So, kinda bi-timbral between keys/ribbon.
Can you semi-lock the voice mod?
Amazing job with this synth. Looking forward to explore the voice mods. One question: (sorry if it has been asked before. Didn't find it by searching) But voice stealing? When having a long release and using an arpeggiator it skips some notes. I'm guessing, it is because the amp envelope hasn't reached 0.
Sounds more like you may have ratcheting or something else going on. Voice stealing would kill an older decaying note , not skip a new one
I'm trying to update it but it is connected via a hub and it stuck during the update. Please advise me how to proceed!
This isn’t ASM support, but if you follow the instructions again you should be fine.
Try not using a hub, just connect it directly into the PC. Some of my other synths say to never use a HUB when updating firmware.
@@lucid484 THIS. Quite many, if not even all synths and other devices can fail the firmware update, if connected into an USB hub, sad but true. Been there.
Intersting video but shame about the musical wallpaper in the background which adds nothing and which distracts!
Proof you can’t please everyone smh 🤦♂️
