    The sound brought me back to my kx500. The slow loss of revs with the "wing ding, pops" . I miss big 2 strokes. Thanks for posting a cool vid.

  • @RacingSM
    @RacingSM  Před 11 lety

    Exactly. That CR 500 run very well in terms of performance and speed, but the sound it makes, kind of disappoint people, because it's not a 2-Stroke revy sound .

  • @RacingSM
    @RacingSM  Před 11 lety +2

    Yes you're right, CR 500 is like a stock mopped 50cc ( 6 hp ) in state of tune but with 500cc. That's why it has the potential to go from ~55hp to 100 hp ! If you check out my videos, I have a Yamaha RD 500 V4 ( 88hp stock ) and now has more than 130hp and runs like hell, the same theory has the CR500 .. stock bad .. tuned runs great

    It's easy to talk.
    Maybe you can present us a video of you opening full throttle on a CR 500 on a GoKart corner perhaps ?
    You or another person, I repeat, on a GoKart circuit corners. :)

  • @RacingSM
    @RacingSM  Před 11 lety

    Already answered you on the other video, I was pushing all the revs of that CR 500 engine. The engine doesn't rev a lot. Check out my other videos of 2-Strokes, I know how to push a 2-Stroke engine revs.

  • @RacingSM
    @RacingSM  Před 11 lety

    That's what I've tried to explain .. those engines don't rev .. and I was pushing all the revs of the bike in the first gears on the straights of that GoKart Circuit .. but they only rev until 7500 - 8000rpm with a ProCircuit / FMF pipe ..

    Own this bike 3++ years.Over 25.000klm on the clock.Over 75hp on the rear wheel.(lots of tunning in the enigne).Never had a single problem.Except some minor electrics.Burned stator and a fried starter that was my mistake. Motor can be Bulletproof when some good hands take care of it and a guy with true knowledge.Motor is very special and it must be treated like that,Otherwise you will feel sorry real soon like your friend.

  • @RacingSM
    @RacingSM  Před 11 lety

    No one says the CR 500 doesn't have tuning potential, the question is, with STOCK ENGINE internals ( portmap and cylinder head stock ), only using aftermarket pipes and Vforce reeds it isn't a monster.
    Of course, decently tuned it can have 70, 80, 90 hp or even more, but also, a decent tuned Husaberg 650 with or without bigbore 710cc can also make more than 80 rwhp .. search on CZcams .. if you check my videos, I'm a 2-Stroke fan, but there are some serious 4-Stroke aswell .. like Husaberg 650

  • @RacingSM
    @RacingSM  Před 11 lety

    Husaberg made 61 Nm rear wheel torque @ 5700rpm, but still has 50 Nm @ 8000rpm ( rev limiter @ ~9000rpm ).
    Show me a mild tuned CR 500 making that kind of rear wheel torque @ mid-range and @ top-end.
    About the track, it works for both sides ( CR 500 & Husaberg ), my Husaberg was running 15 - 38 with 6 gearbox, it's also an engine which likes wide open spaces for full-throttle aswell !

  • @bvhdevelopments
    @bvhdevelopments Před 11 lety

    I had a n Husaberg FS650E supermotord on the Dynojet a few months ago, both bikes on SAME dyno. CR500 ported with CPI pipe made 4hp more and just over 61nm of torque, the Husaberg made 56nm at around 6000rpm, at 9000rpm with around 40.6nm.... The CR500 also made the exact same at 9000rpm believe it or not... The Husaberg made the most power up to 6000rpm, but from there the CR is much stronger and kept the power the same way as the Husaberg. Dyno graphs to proof... All on CR500 riders as well..

  • @RacingSM
    @RacingSM  Před 11 lety

    This CR 500 is not ours :)
    It's from a friend of mine who told it had around that power.
    From my test-drive with this CR 500, and from my experience with my exotic 2-Strokes, I don't believe this CR 500 had 80hp.
    Even my Husaberg 650 ( 60 rwhp & 61 rwNm ) seemed more powerful on this GoKart Circuit !
    This CR 500 had a complete FMF pipe, jetting and aftermarket reeds as I remember !

  • @mojoscojo
    @mojoscojo Před 11 lety

    He's doing it right for that 500. They are low end torque monsters. Just twist the throttle and shift it as fast as you can. I was actually thinking he could stand to be a gear higher thru the corners. It'll pull it.

  • @RacingSM
    @RacingSM  Před 11 lety

    I know, that's why I told that a well tuned CR500 can make high HP numbers . The question like I said before, it's not doubting the CR5 potential, but that a stock or almost stock CR 500 is not faster or more powerful than some 4-Strokes ! When I rode my Berg and that CR5 on the Track, my Berg felt more powerful and seemed faster ! And I know how to distinguish 2-Stroke and 4-Stroke behaviour and " illusion " :)

  • @RacingSM
    @RacingSM  Před 11 lety

    The CR 500 wasn't mine, I was just test-riding it, so I couldn't push it hard on corners in order not to crash .. but on the fews straights I've pushed it full throttle like I said before, these engines just don't rev and they lack of top-end power

  • @RacingSM
    @RacingSM  Před 11 lety

    I saw a few months ago the forum thread about a Liger build on a quad .. plenty of pipes made and tested .. between 99 and 108 hp if I recall .. around 9500rpm using CR 250 ignition .. :)

  • @bvhdevelopments
    @bvhdevelopments Před 11 lety

    If anyone wants to see the graphs, I will gladly e-mail them... This CR500 was a super build, turned out very well... Spinning up to 10000rpm with serious power and torque.. Its on 93 pump gas, stock timing etc... We are in the process of developing a new pipe to get at least 5hp+ more out of it with the new ignition also going on....

  • @RacingSM
    @RacingSM  Před 11 lety

    After the engine is warmed up and with that kind of rythm using 2% premix, it's normal to not see smoke :)

  • @bvhdevelopments
    @bvhdevelopments Před 11 lety

    The Berg we dynod had a full exhaust system on as well... Different dynos, different numbers... But compare 2 diifferent bikes on the same dyno and there is no argument... Nice bike not trying to start WW3.... The Liger CR600 made 110hp and 92nm torque! Yes its a totally new cylinder, but I just call it 21st century tech vs the old 80s tech on the 500... Not sure if the Berg will hold its own there... even the 700 big bores can't come CLOSE! :-)
    Enjoy your bike man!

  • @oldladycrenshaw
    @oldladycrenshaw Před 11 lety

    Very cool bike! I do enjoy that low rev power. I have an older CR500 (87). How did you get that engine to pump out 80+ hp? That's a butt-ton of ponies man!

  • @RacingSM
    @RacingSM  Před 11 lety

    Not my bike for going to it's limits leaning corners.
    The engine is like that, even with the installed aftermarket pipe, it simply is not a top-end revy engine like a CR 125 or CR 250.

      @EnkeiTenjin Před 6 lety +2

      Johnny Lehti that's what happens when you buy an Italian monster and don't understand the tricks and procedures to make it last. It is not a reliable bike if you don't want to do the maintenance. Like anything fast, keep maintaining it and it'll last. Your friend either had shit luck or didn't give a fuck about servicing it PROPERLY and with the right fluids. You can't flash the ecu yourself with your stupid timing profiles and fuel maps and then call it a piece of shit coz it blows up. Get real banana peel

    Nice to chat on this topic and behave, for that I can see you are a grown up... You are 100% RIGHT... I admit it, a STOCK CR500 has good torque with only about 5hp more then a 450 0n my dyno believe it or not... I believe a wel setup 450 can outrun a STOCK CR500... One thing we have to keep in mind, the CR is OLD tech and the 450s are almost state of the art.... Stock CR500 owners have NOTHING to brag about :-)

This bike shouldnt have plates and shouldnt ridden on the street. Have you ever seen the service manual of the Sxv.Take a look of it to find out what SXV means.
