On September 10, 2009, I was involved in a tragic car accident caused by a distracted driver, who was suspected to have been texting while driving. This event left me paralyzed from the chest down, forcing me to lose my football scholarship I had worked my entire life for! I was challenged with the task of starting my life over. Now, a quadriplegic, I had to relearn everything in order to adjust to my new circumstances but little did I know this was just the beginning!

Damn Fletcher, I’m so sorry for the chapters your life has written because of distracted driving. I’m in AWE at your determination, drive, and how far you’ve come since your accident. Not just physically, more important, mentally. You were robbed of your NFL career, but nothing can rob you of the man you were, the man you are, or the man you are yet to be. I know I’m not your parent, but I’m so very proud of your determination to fight for a life worthy of the person you are. May God bless you with all your desires.
Fletcher, you deserved to be drafted and become a pro. You are an amazing athlete that knows his stuff, not many players are like you, and can play like you.

Fletcher, your story has made a difference. You touched my daughter's life and therefore mine. She will not tell me if you came to her school or she saw this video, but she will no longer drive with her phone on and on the front seat area while she's driving. You maybe have saved not only her life, but others as well. Being an athlete didn't stop when you lost the use of your legs, it only changed what you chose as your sport. You still have people cheering for you at every play you now make!! You are the leader of your own Wolf Pack!!! GO Fletcher!!!

I love this story... Fletcher has an amazing family.. and support system.. I love his positive attitude... I am so sorry this happened to you... Things happen for a reason tho, I believe to tell your story and to show people the devastation to lives.. and families when someone is not paying attention to their driving.... we all have to PUT OUR PHONES down.. DO not text.. dont do anything.. it can all wait till your stop.. or are not behind the wheel to answer a phone or text.. this could have been prevented.... Lord have mercy...this is really breaking my heart. When I was a little girl during my summer vacations I would watch my Mother drive from Illinois to Mexico, she did it like it was so simple. I told her when I got grown I wanted to drive just like her. She told me: ALWAYS REMEMBER PEOPLE LIVES ARE PRECIOUS CARGO, HANDLE WITH CARE & WATCH OUT FOR OTHER DRIVERS. I'm not one of those people who can't live without a cellphone. When I'm driving my phone is in my cup holder. My everyday life is full of careless people on their cellphone. Inside grocery stores I can't get down aisle for people on their cellphone, trying to get gas person turned pump on got in car on their cellphone the pump has stop, I've been ran over by grocery carts because the person was on their cell phone. People, I pray you will consider others & treat you vehicle just like a loaded gun, because it will kill just as quick as a bullet. I'm only 55 years old, considering to quit drinking because of dangerous, non considerate people. I dare not speak on the unnecessary speeding. 🙏💞

This is terribly tragic, athletes like you are few and far between, I also know that God has a plan and a reason for everything. Where there's a will there's a way, you've got the will and I know you'll find your way! God bless you!

This is one of the many reasons why I don't ever look at my phone when I'm driving. I do get tempted to grab my phone when I hear that I got snap or text but then I remember this story, and how much one text or one snap could affect a person. I either wait or pullover to answer it, bc I'm either going get a ticket, hold up traffic, or cause an accident.

I also admit that I get tempted, I remember all of these videos that I force myself to watch, even though I cry each time I do. I also started putting my phone in the back seat so that I have NO way to get it. Nothing on any phone is worth dying for.
