  • Plopsaland de Panne is the flagship park in the Plopsa Group / Studio 100 chain. This Belgium theme park features colorful theming and popular IPs. But in recent years, the park has expanded their thrill offerings to include several roller coasters like Heidi the Ride, Anubis the Ride, and Ride to Happiness.

    I'm a massive RTH fangirl. It remains my #1 despite recent rides on F.L.Y., Taron & Voltron. I love it so so much.

      I completely agree, and honestly it sucks knowing that this ride will lose forever its magic in a couple of years. I will NEVER accept the decision that plopsa made of doing another extreme spinning coaster with the same theme of Tomorrowland. It won't have anymore the recognition of "the Tomorrowland spinning coaster". And if they say it will be even more crazy, even worse. Nobody will be interested anymore in riding rth, because it also has the disvantage of being in a far and family park, so it's not so worthy going there if you have another one in a better park as holiday park. This thing is destroying me.
      I'm saying so because I don't see coasters simply as "machines that give you adrenaline". Or at least not for all coasters. This specific ride isn't, for me, just a coaster. It's a work of art. The engineering, the theming, the experience... everything of it is pure art. And I don't think it's a good idea copying the elements that made this ride so special, because it means decreasing its value. That's why I say that something completely different would have worked so much better, because each of the two rides would have kept its uniqueness without damaging the identity of the other (so double advantage).
      Now, once they saw that rth worked well, they went on the "safe side" and replicated almost all of it because they know it attracts people worldwide. So they make money easily. They chose to make money instead of preserving THAT work of art. It's like they sold it for money. And that's completely nasty and disgusting.

    Anubis for me wil always be the coaster I got spat in the face on! And this year it happened again on Wakala, so I guess that's a common occurrence on roller coasters in Belgium. I didn't ride Anubis as much as I probably should have because RTH is just so addictive. SuperSplash was closed for me so the conundrum on whether I should count it as a cred fortunately didn't come up.. I don't think I would have.

    Heidi the Ridey was much more enjoyable than I expected. Nothing extreme, granted, but amazingly smooth and just simple fun.
    Anubis... Well, it's a Gerstlauer and I've never really been a big fan of Gersts. Not sure why, but them tending to be a bit rough and jerky doesn't help. As you say though, the launches are surprisingly powerful for a ride at a kids' park.

    Ever wonder what Ride To Happiness would be like if it had regular cars instead of spinning cars?

    • @aridaje4345
      @aridaje4345 Před 9 dny

      Well of course it would have been less crazy, but this layout was made with the spinning cars in mind with the purpose of valorising the spinning aspect, so it was made for it. Nevertheless, the elements are already strong on eash own and the world class hangtime/ejector airtime would have been still there!

      @@aridaje4345I always tell people who make the "spinning carries the ride" argument that RtH could've absolutely "flopped" and been a massive gimmick that didn't work as intended. That's why I think it's deserving of a #1 in anyone's list

    • @aridaje4345
      @aridaje4345 Před 9 dny

      @@chaoslemonrollerposting5063 it just seems like it's the best layout for spinning cars. the layout of other existing rides wouldn't have fit for them in my opinion

    • @gemmachaos
      @gemmachaos Před 9 dny +1

      It would still be great. Maybe not my numer 1 of all time. The genius of the spinning is that it doesn't spin too fast, it's more about the orientation at which the elements are taken.

    • @aridaje4345
      @aridaje4345 Před 9 dny +1

      @@gemmachaos let me add a thing: if the ride had more elements and more close to each other, like Voltron for example, the layout would have been "more intense" on paper, but absolutely NOT more enjoyable with the spinning. Making something more intense would mean too much happening, elements almost blended toghether and would just be unconfortable. The elements on rth are not so close to each other and neither too fast so it gives you the time of asking yourself "what the hell it's happening?!" while giving the sense of disorientation. The spinning cars don't fit in all layouts, that layout was made on purpose for having spinning cars and in my opinion it's just perfect.

    RCDB can be idiotic at times. How can a gravity powered section of a ride with coaster track NOT be a coaster? I guess it has to be coaster from start to finish to qualify at RCDB.

    • @CanobieCoaster

    • @teddym2808
      @teddym2808 Před 9 dny

      @@gemmachaos When did I say that? I am taking about this and the fact it is literal steel coaster track with an airtime hill and the vehicles will use wheels on top and up stop wheels underneath, AND the entire section is gravity powered only. A flume drop that does not have a steel or wooden rail is not the same thing, but I don't know the ride you are talking about and how it works.
