in series and movies, suffering and depression are mostly shown through crying and obvious sadness, for the sake of the audience. but in reality it looks different. Many people tend to smile when they are faced with bad things in life. Because they deny reality and are on the verge of a complete breakdown. That laugh just shows how desperate they really are.

I think it's good but I don't like the formality and repetition of almost every sentence. If someone showed me the death of my friend I certainly wouldn't say it was just horrible, I would either stop talking completely or go hug him. And considering the personalities of Maki and Megumi I would expect some profanity from them, after all they both express themselves quite often in anime. But I have to say I love how you expressed the depression with that crazy smile and the character design is awesome too. This is just my opinion and may not match yours so please don't take it the wrong way. Keep up the good work.❤
