Anyways here's 9 months of hard work. Took a lot of breaks because of dismotivation and how long it took to load a state, School, and mainly my mental health. I just want to say thank you all for all of your support over the past few months. This year really wasn't my year but I'm still going strong and trying to make things work. I'll still produce more content for all of you no matter what happens. Just give me some time is all. I love all of you! Thank you!

Reminder: More of Mario's parts probably aren't fully optimized, but it gets better and more optimized when Luigi comes along. Not fully optimal, but more optimal. I will most likely redo the entire run soon for a way better and more optimized result. Thank you all for watching.

2. 100% includes the following
1. Collect All star coins.
2. Complete all levels and all secret exits.
3. Beat Bowser.
4. Max lives. (3 crowns or 1,110 lives)
5. Complete Star world and at collect all moon coins.
Everything else does not matter.

i saw one in 2020 on my tv somehow, probably right before the 3ds was discontinued, really weird to think about lol
I remember this one where everything in the real world was starting to turn to coins. It felt like an acid trip and was honestly more entertaining than the game itself.

Just completed this game this year and immediately looked for a 100% TAS. I subscribed when I found your sneak peak video. Finally, I can see how the game is REALLY played

Here’s some possible timesaves (with time stamps for reference):
1-A: 44:00, you can throw the shell at bottom of pipe that the Koopa was on so it just goes left and there’s less waiting for Star Coin 1 before you take the exit pipe
1-Ca: 45:15, Roy respawns quicker if you stand to the right of him after jumping on him
2-2: 47:26, pipe entry can be saved by a few frames; you can build P-speed and jump on the Boomerang Bro to get to the last star coin faster
2-B: 53:25, where the blocks and the bridge meet on the right side of Star Coin 1, you can throw a bomb-omb so it lines up perfectly with the corner and will open up the pathway to get the star coin, which is collected by throwing another bomb-omb as you’re heading toward the quicksand for Star coin 2
5-5: 1:40:49, You can actually fall between the bullet bill cannon tower and the red pipe to exit the subarea after collecting Star coin 2, which is faster
Other than that, I think you did the rest of the levels perfectly! Some of these strats used in the TAS, I have discovered on my own, some recorded, and some not, so it’s pretty cool to see an improvement or replica of that!
Wow.... the only thing I tried doing was the pipe entry. Looks like I'll need a little more height more height after the flip. I never thought of the others. Thank you for these timesaves....
@@KananIsMyBae Yea, no prob! Also, you don’t need to ground pound your way in the pipe. See my 2-2 100% IL to see what I mean, along with my other ILs for the other pieces of advice for each one.
@@KananIsMyBae Also, I have never done a TAS, so feel free to enlighten me, but how tedious would editing part of a TAS be? Would this affect RNG manipulation?
@@ajl4878 Fortunately, no. Most of the time, you won't see anything different in playbacks of your TAS. So anything that's supposed to be RNG won't be RNG manipulated during playback. Instead it's everything you saw and done on your screen when recording the TAS.

@@KananIsMyBaeThank you for the warm wishes. I'm 4 days in and hopeful for a full recovery soon. The vaccine seems to have kept most of my symptoms less severe, and I am grateful the experience hasn't been worse. I'm glad the infection didn't hit you too hard either.
@@minervatenebrae My covid lasted 11 days (nearly 12). Your situation might not be as bad as mine as could recover in less time especially since you have a vaccine.
@@KananIsMyBae Here's hoping, but either way its just a matter of when. The worst of it so far was a day one fever with severe full-body joint pain for me. Since I beat the fever, things have felt tame in comparison.
@@minervatenebrae That's good. If you can, try eating some oranges if you have any. That'll help you get your smell and taste back faster if that's a issue as of current. Don't forget to rest yourself too.

I suppose if a few timesaves are added into this TAS that were missed, it could be possible (not factoring in the pop-ups and other cutscenes because it starts from a fresh game cartridge). If you take out those extra cutscenes, you probably made it to sub 2:30 RTA.

I want to preface this by saying the TAS is great. Was not expecting a 100% TAS of a 3DS game so quick.
The only thing I can say so far about optimizing this is just to collect as few coins as possible without losing time in order to reduce the amount of time taken up by the coin counter going up. From watching this, I can see that the total coin counter goes up by 2 each frame, so I guess to start getting an improvement you need to be able to get 2 less coins than before without losing a frame doing so.

The way I started the TAS would confuse people trying to watch it because I didn't start from the very beginning with the "Welcome to New Super Mario Bros. 2" sign. They'd have to do extra work just to watch it. I'll create a new and more optimized run to submit to TASvideos.

1. How did you clip with the mini mushroom at 2:02:20, and when is it possible to clip?
2. Did you collect extra one ups just to be safe that the requirement was met at 1:59:00, since you completed the 3 star lives requirement pretty early

2. Yes. That is so that I wouldn't have to worry about any lives being missing. That part could also be optimized in my book but it's fine for now.

Technically a human can, but it’s quite difficult turning to the left right when you’re about to do the third final jump. I’ve gotten it a few times and it sure is difficult!

Question would it be more optimal to Attempt some Infinite 1ups in some Auto Scrollers if your able to in the level so you wouldn't go out of your way or Cut down the Time it takes to get them since getting Max 1ups is Required?
It would. I thought of that myself when watching it again. I could've went for 1050 or 1060 something to save some frames, but was worried that I wouldn't have 1110 by the time I reached 9-8. 😅

Just had a thought, but not sure if the Citra file prevents you from playing the Coin Rush packs. Did you want to try your hand at 100% Coin Rush Packs? This would mean obtaining a minimum of the coin goal value while collecting all star coins for each course in said pack. I also have runs of those on my profile. Would be cool to see those optimized.
