In this video, I install a bunch of parts on the mini to keep it cool at the track!! Just like the video for the Accord, where I showed you how to install upgraded Silicone Coolant hoses, I will be doing that, along with installing a new Thermostat and the water pipe found on the backside of the motor.
A set of hoses like this will be much less prone to failure, as they are designed with much higher tolerances. That means if you track your car, or even just drive it to and from work every day, you can rest assured knowing that your cooling system will not fail. To guarantee that, Mishimoto stands behind their product with a lifetime warranty on their hoses.
If you’re looking to pick up a kit like mine for your car, you can click the following link, and it will bring you to amazon where you can select the exact kit for your car ▶︎ amzn.to/2iMSUhk
After that, be sure to replace the proper coolant in your vehicle. I’ve included below links to most of the automotive manufacturer’s Genuine engine coolant, to make the search a bit easier.
If you are interested in any of the items found in this video have a look at the affiliate links below. By purchasing items below, it helps my channel operate and brings more awesome content your ways. Thank you all for your generous support!! 🖤

The OEM water piping is less reinforced for a reason. Ideally, as the hose ages, it can expand a bit without having a blow out. You dont want to use silicone piping for coolant the same way you dont want to use worm clamps on them. Theyre so restrictive the line is alot more likely to break.

Just an FYI: this engine is a 1.6 THP - a fruit of BMW and PSA cooperation. In Europe it is often found in range of Citroen and Peugeot models. Direct fuel injection and twin-scroll turbo are just a couple of features that helped this power plant win The International Engine of The Year award in 2007 and held it till 2015 (1.4 - 1.8 category). I am using its turbo and turbo manifold in my NA to turbocharged project (Citroen C2 VTS).
Proper DIY content, good job Milan.

for 60/40 ratio, it has to be 3.78L coolant, 2.52L water, total of 6.3L.
    60% of 6.3L is 3.78L
    40% of 6.3L is 2.52L
    Not 1.5L of water.
To make it easy to calculate for the ratio, divide 60 by 40 to get 1.5, then divide the amount of coolant (3.78L in this case) by the 1.5. This will give you 2.52L which is how much water you need. Will work for all ratios.

      Somewhere around that 75/25 mark.
      1.5 + 3.78 = 5.28 L total
      3.78/5.28 = 71.6%
      1.5/5.28 = 28.4%

Why do I feel like he did the math wrong? 60/40 right? He did 40% of the amount of coolant, not the full system capacity. Lets say your car takes 6 litres capacity. So a 50/50 mixture would mean 3 litres of coolant and 3 litres of water. A 60/40 mixture would mean 3.6 litres of coolant and 2.4 litres of water. I just feel like his numbers are off. I could be wrong though.

    • @smoke05s

@@parvb Sorry for the late reply. I am pretty much still doing this same mod. Just my coolant hoses are Blue generic (ebay). I have the intercooler and all the intake tubes to replace just like this video. On top of this video I took off the intake manifold and already cleaned the carbon off the valves with a solvent a pick and some brass brushes. That actually only takes a few hours to do and is not very difficult and should restore performance and fuel mileage if I ever finish this project! I am going to do the noise maker delete and I have a more tapered charge pipe that helps spool up the turbo a bit quicker that I have been running for a long time (the inlet turbo pipe on these cars breaks at about 50K miles so just do it. I have the Alta spring that helps you retain boost. I have a forge blow off valve seat that keeps the stock valve but blows off to the engine bay so you can hear it better. The stock blow off valves fail pretty early too, and so does the high pressure fuel pump so keep an eye on that stuff. The stock JCW intake is actually pretty good so that is stock. I am in California so I cant go too overboard on this or it wont pass smog. For suspension I have the Bilstien sport struts that are shorter than stock on NM springs. I have a 20mm rear bar on urethane bushings (which creak bad, need to fix that). I have adjustable rear control arms. I am going to put in front urethane bushings and also redo the control arm bushings in urethane as well. I stiffened up to lower motor strut mount by filling the gaps with silicon. It was worn out so now it makes it shift more positively. Pretty much feels like new. But to get it better I might get a new arm that has solid urethane bushings. Huge project and I am a master of procrastination when I hit a snag. To make it worse I am not using a manual, just youtube videos to do this work (which is probably most of the problem right there).

I can't recall, but you should only use spring clamps for the coolant system

@@milanmastraccithanks for advice, I'm having trouble with installing one spring clamp it doesn't matter if I have it fully compressed or if I add lubricant to slip it on it won't fit and unfortunately nobody carries constant tension hose clamps. Junk yard run is what I'm thinking now

today whil i was driving my car
i felt a smell from the engin bay
soo i stooped and i opened the hood
    guess what
i found a huge water leak in the system
    i was terrified
i taught it was from the gasket
so i stooped the engin let it cooled down and i removed an aluminium part
u know it's protecting from the heat of the exhaust collector
soo i found that the same plastic tube has messed up like your Mini does
know the car is parcked in the house :(
i have to fix it and it's raining without stooping and i have no garage :(

I found this aftermarket radiator for mini cooper www.ecstuning.com/b-csf-parts/high-performance-aluminum-radiator/7016~csf/?gclid=CNeejeCgvNECFQlWDQodU6QDyQ Seems pretty solid. Fits all model mini-coopers. I believe Mishimoto makes a radiator that fits MIni Coopers too. Doesn't that fit your model?

Behr is the one that makes the radiators for most German cars if you don't have a Behr u should go for one I've read horrible stories of oem non Behr radiators.

Any open forum's that are German-Japanese friendly now the collaboration is more concrete for cars using German and or Japanese parts? I'll take an invite into a good JCW'S or Copper S any gen forum. Their everywhere around here. Second gens are flooding the used car lots, auctions and junkyards quickly. Id love to find them homes at least. Spare parts/part's car worst case. Could of cleaned house where I was last week- 3L Supra TT's, 4.0L's and 4.2's in soo any Lexus'. Beautiful '94 DelLe Sol with a K-Tuned engine I really wanted. A few other Honda's an old Golf's under $2-3K that would go for 5x that up here. Toyota vehicles were overpriced as was BMW and most newer German cars.
