- Welcome back to another Chateau de Bruges video!
We have a Chateau de Bruges first this week! Jenn (Graham’s daughter and Jake’s sister) visits the chateau for the first time since we got the keys in March. As expected, she was a natural in front of the camera. Although, she was not always happy to be videoed as, in her own words, didn’t always ‘look her best’.
In what can only be described as a large dose of realisation, she was astounded by how much hard work she would go onto do this week at the chateau. Its safe to say she is returning to her busy life in the UK now for a well-earned rest! Thanks for all your help Jenn! Hope to see you back at the chateau soon!
Grandad, Grandma also return to the chateau this week and were working incredibly hard to continue with winter preparations in the garden, greenhouse and vegetable patch! I am sure you will enjoy their company as much as you did last time they were here!
Charles also stayed until late this week keeping us busy in the garden. His work rate and determination to get a job DONE is unmatched! You are welcome anytime Charles! Just give us a couple of weeks to rest and regroup before cracking the whip once again!
We have a few days to relax just the 3 of us, Merlin and Curious. Then Dad returns to the UK another time in search of his ‘working VISA’.

Great work with the garden. Congratulations on a positive meeting and tour with the Mayor. As much as I like seeing what you are doing at the Chateau I do like seeing French countryside, villages etc .

Loved this weeks episode and to see Jen, Grandma and Grandad all helping out. The greenhouse is incredible. It was great to see a local village and a good idea to show what visitors could go and visit as it looked quite a historical place.

Think the only other tidbit I could add is that you all need to rrreeelllaaaaxxxxx during filming lol. Can't say that I blame you for the stiffness though. I absolutely hate having my picture taken, let alone being filmed lol.
I'm sure you will naturally start relaxing as time goes on.
It's great watching things come together. And we all do need to take care of our outdoor chores when the weather is nice.

I just wonder how well those stickers on the lawn tractor will stay on. I'm thinking that the heat from the engine will crack and dry up the stickers on the hood. I don't know, but it would be good to seal them with some kind of sealing spray.

Hi Denise! Thanks for all of your lovely messages! We are planning to do Serve or Swerve but just on a less frequent timescale. It was beginning to add a lot of pressure on filming and editing to do one a week, not to mention it wasn’t generating the same sort of interest! We are planning to do one a month at the moment! 🥰

I have to say I really love your videos. I just found your channel this morning and I watched all of the episodes today (much to my husband‘s dismay). I love that you show the floor plans for your renovations. I feel that I know more about the your château than any of the others that I’ve watched on CZcams. I did have one suggestion for your guestrooms. It would be a nice touch to put a large mirror or piece of artwork above the mantle on the fireplace. That would certainly draw your eye to it. The rooms are beautiful and any guests that you have will be lucky to stay with you. I hope that I can be one in the future. Wishing you all the best.

Lots of great content...my favorite parts were of the Grands, just wish there had been a bit more of the greenhouse...which is my favorite feature of the chateau. And you were so right about the trees blocking the view - its really quite a transformation.

Congrats on the successful meeting with the mayor. your grandparents are sweet but their voices are soft so it was hard hearing them even with a mic but especially iN the greenhouse. Jennifer was also hard to hear bur her stickers were beautiful. Graham’s voice at the end was loud and clear and I had to lower the volume. Looking forward to seeing the progress in the next vlog❤❤❤
Sorry Rosemarie. The mics were really temperamental this week and they didn't work in the greenhouse. Hence why the audio was poor there. We are doing everything we can to improve the audio for everyone's viewing pleasure. Glad you enjoyed another video though Rosemarie! See you in the next one!
You are very wise to have someone proofread your website. I think errors put people off (but I am an editor, so....). I recently looked at a website for fabric and wallpaper and the number of errors made me wonder if they would get an order correct! Glad to hear the Maire is on your side. I understand that in France a Maire has unusual power.
Sonja was super nice and offered to proofread for free for us! Let us know if you spot anything we've missed! The Mairie is really nice and yes, very very powerful within the town.
Good that you trimmed trees to open the view. Were the pipes in the greenhouse originally heating? Seems like bigger machines are what you need for these jobs
We think so yes Francis! Not sure we can get them working again just yet, but who knows! Maybe a job to do in a few years time haha!

CriCut yes. Jen is an experienced professional when it comes to using the machine.
Ditto on all comments! Try not to record in large rooms that have few upholstery and drapes, as the sound of your lovely voices sound as though recording in an empty barrel.

Your daughter pronounces Cricut strangely, she calls it cri-a-cut, whereas I understand it pronounced crick-cut as there is no ‘a’ in it. Loving what you are all doing with the chateau and it’s grounds. Looking forward to your next posting.

This may seem a daft question, do you get English TV at the chateau?
We don’t bother watching it, but if we do, we would have to use a VPN to connect to UK provided channels!
Please try to keep your audio volumes level. I wear head phones and significant jumps in volume are very unpleasant.
Sorry Rita, if you could be more specific where the audio jumps that would be great. I try really hard when editing to make sure all the volumes are roughly the same output and the music is always 25db lower. Appreciate some advice if you can share any. Thanks, Jake

If u motivate u get twice as man weeds because the roots have been chopped. To save grandad from digging why don't u do a no dig veg garden by just putting cardboard on top of the grass and put compost on top of the cardboard

Why don’t you edit out all the takes? They are completely unnecessary and spoil your interesting videos.

@@ChateaudeBruges well you say you’re trying to be more professional with your videos by buying new equipment but then leave in retakes. If you must leave them in then put them at the end. It really does affect the flow of your videos. I can’t be the only one who thinks this way. Ah well my decision to unsubscribe sorry hope you go from strength to strength without my decision.
