I actually did this pilgrimage in 2017 thereabouts. and yes I did ride on that very pink cab that took me on a quick trip to the red bridge which was a ways off the train station. We almost couldn't find the famous little shrine too because the landmarks next to it were gone.
I can't believe it's a real place. Brings tears. Thank you for sharing. I'll go one day.

geh Japan is really beautiful, they preserve their nature very well.

Absolutely splendid and breathtaking video! I was moved to tears watching this video with all the natsukashii and wry OST. You did a huge favor for ppl who might not be able tp visit there/educated ppl about the real life inspiration of picturesque landscape which the work borrows on for ppl who would want to visit. I loved how you filmed the bridge scene whilst running. I just imagined Natsume running across with Nyanko sensei with joy when it happened. And the last scene of the station with the otaku homage from different ppl was just so moving. To imagine this anime/manga impacted so many ningen in ways I couldn't even begin to imagine is so... Well it erased the kareppu feeling in my kokoro.
Thank you for sharing this . Natsume Yuujinchou is such great anime to my life that it's still one of my turning point to adulthood and accepting bitter reality that happened.

Wow thanks for the recommendation been wathing natsume from the very first time it was out.. I remember I have to wait for years for a new season after season 4(usuall they have a new season buy october or november) but after season 4 there was a long wait but surprisingly they uploaded a single movie ova if you call it on the same day as my birthday.. hope I can visit this place in the future. Love the music ost I play it Everytime I go hiking or close to nature..

3:28 the music had me confused cus the beginning of this tune is similar to one of the soundtrack songs of Azumanga Daioh. and then as the song progressed, i recognized it as part of the NatsuYuu soundtrack too. two great slice-of-life anime that should be treasured.

Very cool video. I knew that Natsume took place in Kumamoto prefecture, but never really associated it with being in a city. Hitoyoshi has a little over 33,000 people. I guess it makes sense as he seemed to attend a fairly large school. As great as the place looks, unless you're used to that kind of weather, it would be a miserable place to live. Very hot, humid summers and cool, humid winters, and contrary to what you see in some of the anime, not a lot of snow. The summer days can hit near 90 F(over 30C) with humidity in the 80s. The coolest month is January where the days average in the in the upper 40s F (a little over 9C) and nights hovering around the freezing mark. The least humid months are February and March when the humidity drops to around 75%. In comparison, Okinawa humidity drops into the 60s over the winter. Beautiful scenery, great place to have a shop that sells air conditioners and dehumidifiers :)
