It's a glorious day today; one of my young mommas brought her first. 3 kits. 1 is a little bigger than the other 2. They are approximately 5-6 weeks old. She's a proud momma! Dad came first to make sure food was out and ready. Raccoons are smart.
@@anitahardesty2163 no, I don't take pictures or videos. I did say to myself when these kits came with their young mamma; I should get a pic. I didn't though. I was to busy letting them smell my hands and letting them check me out and everything else while they eat. They were interested in my feet..eating, watching the others and my cat ..lol. They weren't skittish at all.. probably because their mom came right to me and their dad was eating on the otherside of me.. I probably should start taking pictures while they grow.. I am always more concerned about their safety when they are that young....and the joy of just hanging out with them. Maybe I will start logging pics though.. I am sure the tri color mammas will be bringing kits too maybe...

I think the babies are inviting all their neighbor's kids (kits) - that's an awful lot of babies! They sure do love playing with the ball, it's so cute to watch. I think they are mainly related/ cousins..? When I have babies here alone and others come that they do not recognize; one will stop eating and rush up to new comer (no matter the age or size) smell them, and either chase them or actually chatter and lead them to join the feeding.. They are definitely an organized pack. I remember Buddy literally fighting off new comers a month ago or so!
I think the raccoons are cute and very trusting of you guys. I feel you guys are a great example of how to be kind to animals as you show them kindness and love.

My family is always on tight budget because we have a large family to feed and I have to cover most of my ageing mom's bills otherwise she would be homeless buttttt watching you videos plants a little seed of inspiration for the rest of us and I got enough money together to make a good size donation to our local animal rescue shelter today......As U can see the kindness you show does inspire the rest of us to be a little more thoughtful.

I’ll never forget the video of Jim sitting on the floor trying to feed some screaming tiny baby raccoons. I thought I was gonna die laughing. But Jim was persistent. I wonder if the current raccoons are any of the offspring of those babies back then.
Most likely. Raccoons are territorial and moms/daughters frequent same areas has generations follow. There are none to travel miles back to birth area if need be. It's the same for males. I read some even travel up to 15 miles if transferred away.
They don't like different bloodline families treading on there turf. They have to be invited or come at a different feeding time. This year I had a totally different bloodline come midday to eat. This new bloodline has tri color, different narrow pointed faces and they are taller. When the normal kits showed up early and the others were here; they were shocked looking at the new ones all freaky like who are they. They started chattering with each other discussing the situation. I had to get more bowls out quick to show them it's all good. Needless to say the new bloodline usually comes midday or early am when the others are done and gone.
Besides praying for you Jim, I'm praying for you Angie because you will have so much to do. All you do now plus all the things Jim does plus visiting him and caring for him later. If some days you can't vlog don't think a thing about it. I'm sure everyone here just wants things to be as easy as it can be for you. Will you have visiting nurses to help you? I don't know how after care works in Canada. I wish I was your neighbor and could help. Peace and contentment for both of you.

I’ll never forget the video of Jim sitting on the floor trying to feed some screaming tiny baby raccoons. I thought I was gonna die laughing. But Jim was persistent. I wonder if the current raccoons are any of the offspring of those babies back then.
Most likely. Raccoons are territorial and moms/daughters frequent same areas has generations follow. There are none to travel miles back to birth area if need be. It's the same for males. I read some even travel up to 15 miles if transferred away.
They don't like different bloodline families treading on there turf. They have to be invited or come at a different feeding time. This year I had a totally different bloodline come midday to eat. This new bloodline has tri color, different narrow pointed faces and they are taller. When the normal kits showed up early and the others were here; they were shocked looking at the new ones all freaky like who are they. They started chattering with each other discussing the situation. I had to get more bowls out quick to show them it's all good. Needless to say the new bloodline usually comes midday or early am when the others are done and gone.

Besides praying for you Jim, I'm praying for you Angie because you will have so much to do. All you do now plus all the things Jim does plus visiting him and caring for him later. If some days you can't vlog don't think a thing about it. I'm sure everyone here just wants things to be as easy as it can be for you. Will you have visiting nurses to help you? I don't know how after care works in Canada. I wish I was your neighbor and could help. Peace and contentment for both of you.
