Hero Dublin delivery driver who disrupted knife attack on young girl is ‘praying for her’

- A hero Deliveroo driver who stopped a horror knife attack near a school in Dublin has said he is 'praying' for the young victim.
Caio Benicio, intervened to stop the attacker during the ordeal that unfolded in the city's Parnell Square, near to a Irish language medium primary school, at around lunchtime on Thursday.
Mr Benicio, who has two children himself, waded in after he saw the attacker stabbing the five-year-old girl and knocked the attacker down with his helmet.
The 43-year-old said his thoughts are with the young victim who remained in a critical condition in hospital on Friday, and said: "I am praying, it's all I'm thinking of. I saw her in the ambulance, she looked so vulnerable, I had to go with gardai then. I am waiting for news about her. I am hoping."

Our Brazilian mindset about protecting others is very different. Thanks for showing them this. You are a hero, my friend 🇧🇷❤

Scottish are very much the same also you can always rely on majority who would run toward the danger to save a woman - called morals, also why we don’t require guns we learn to defend without them 👍❤️ so glad this man was in right place when he should’ve been, god bless him and the girl prayers to her and family
@@deeperanddown what kind of comment is that? The thing is: life in Brazil is overall harder and more dangerous so people learn to deal with adversity by obligation. The environment in which you live shapes your character.
@@deeperanddown Brazil is a mess, but there's a glimmer of improvement. Meanwhile, some European countries are plunging into madness at breakneck speed. In 20 years, Europe could be as messed up as Brazil is now.

Nobody claims he was being dishonest. Its the media who is being dishonest by claiming he was the one to stop the attack, and people are correcting the media on that.
His name literally translates “Hello/goodbye blessed” 🤷♀️
Reading some of the comments makes me sad. Ok he maybe wasn’t the first to intervene, yet he was the only one besides the terrorist to have a potential weapon (helmet) and use it ! Oh my word, would you rather him of carried on with his delivery? Give your heads a bang people. 🤦♀️
"Caio" is not the same as "Ciao", though I will admit is very close and I myself use Ciao as an internet handle from time to time. "Caio" is the the portuguese equivalent to "Gaius", that itself was a very common name used on ancient roman empire like in "Gaius Junius Bubulcus Brutus" or "Gaius Julius Caesar", about 40% of male population or so, so common in fact that to avoid confusion you rarely see being used in full and a composite name by that, so that's why he is presented as "Caio Benicio" and not simply Benicio. And still very commonly used on brazil. It means "happy" or "rejoice" I believe if memory does not fail me, if you care some about etymology I wouldn't be surprised if words like gay or names like gaylord came from the word "gaius" in some backward fashion, but I wouldn't quote me on that, it could be just a happy coincidence. A more apropos translation to his name is probably "Happy Blessing".
