Great video. Thanks for taking the time and money to do this. It was really informative. So, 114 nautical miles in 4.2 hours on an 18.5 gallon tank, you got 6.16 NM/gal with an average speed of 27.14 NM/hour. That's really useful information for trip planning.
Keep in mind too, going through very choppy conditions or rough seas will bring down fuel economy, so will a loaded ice chest. We take these things offshore fishing a lot and there is a huge community of folks that have built modified racks that hole two five gallon marine fuel jugs instead of sea-doo’s single four gallon 250$ tank 🤣
Check out Mike Stinger SeaDoo mods, good stuff
Pretty damn good! Great job Tim, appreciate you sharing that information. I can only imagine imagine how many people wanted that information. Very very useful!
Billy D
awesome information U did, I live in Korea and my name is John. whenever I rode my fishpro 170, I had a curiosity how I could go with full tank. Today, I watched your beautiful Journal and I really appreciated with your useful experience in spite of spending time and gas. Thank you Tim.
Noone should run a vehicle completely out of fuel. The fuel pump works really hard and is cooled and lubricated by the fuel going through. The fuel pump will have immediate wear once there isnt any fuel running through it. Replaced many a fuel pump and this is the number 1 culprit
A great video, nicely documented. I was planning on doing a similar thing on Lake Erie (fresh water) with my GTX 170
The right kind of video, very informative! Thanks
This is a really good video. I’ve been wondering the same. It would be great if you guys could get a few of the models together and do a range shootout between models (170’s, 230’s and 300’s) using this same track to see the differences between engine sizes and models.
very well shot and edited ! And great music as well. I'm planning to get a Fishpro Trophy and this was very informative. Thanks for your time !
So the Explorer Pro 170 should be about the same. Thank you for taking the time resources to make this video.
Excellent job, looking at ordering one. Additional fuel sell is a must, cheers.
Well done!
Great video, great topic. Thanks
Awesome information thank you. I just purchased 2 of these.
i would love to see more range videos on other seadoo models. good video
I am gonna do a video on a fully loaded RXT in open ocean to the Bahamas soon on my other channel @NomadicMotorrad
Great content and very informative. Video well done.
this is great, such good info
This is exactly what I’ve been looking for…thanks…
Fantastic. I just bought one and this will give me confidence to go further.
Remember that a loaded ice chest or rough seas will impact fuel economy big time
Finally I got a answer thanks for sharing
Not bad at all!! That is about 210km from a 75-liter fuel tank = 2.8km per liter. You mentioned "real world conditions", but that depends on your area and what you are doing with the ski. Your water seemed to be very nice and flat most of the way. It just goes to show what weight and water conditions can do to fuel consumption. In real world offshore fishing conditions (Australia) for me, I average about 1.2 - 1.6 km per liter (depending on the type of fishing), which will give me 48-65 nautical miles to the tank. Bear in mind that this is loaded with fishing gear, 2 people, and a set of fishing tubbies fitted to the sides. Because of this, I have added the additional 40 liter "long range" fuel tank to extend my distance to 75-100 nautical miles on my ski. But a good test/video to establish a base line!!
That’s amazing
Thank you. I just bought a 2024 Fish Pro Trophy and will fish the Northeast out of Montauk, Long Island. I was wondering what the range would be. Brilliant informative video
Hello, just curious what your thoughts are on the older seadoo 260’s with the S3 hulls? Appreciate your input
Do these do well idling up into tributaries? Throttle blippin slow speeds while floating. Lots of at idle. Or maybe starting and stopping the motor.
Biggest point here actually, is that running it out of gas will still work after refueling it
Decades ago I would take my Kawasaki Jet Ski from Ventura to Santa Barbara marinas and back.. 27 miles one way.. Didnt have enough gas to go round trip.. Always needed to fill up in Santa Barbara. But, the waves were a lot choppier than where you are.
I am guess in open ocean in normal 1-2 foot swells would do about 110-120 miles and maybe 100-105 loaded down, which is much better than my 75-80 miles on my RXT in ECO
so with a load of fishing gear and a cooler cut that down about 20-30%. still can go out over 20 miles from shore to fish, if the seas allow it. I am impressed. I wouldn't, but a brave soul can. I certainly wouldn't do it without some support.
That information should be available in the specifications. But for all of the long distance claims, know where can I find the range. Which makes me think that if they had something to boast about they would have done it, but since they do not specify the range on a vehicle that is supposed to go long distance it means that there's nothing special about that range, and it's probably not worth spending $20,000 on.
good choice of background music
What was the constant RPMS. The mileage is awesome ❤ but full disclosure of information is key.
And if a Slightly larger Impeller on this Ski would get less or more MPG....
These are questions for WCJ.... Please Advise as it’s to me the next part of Ride is best Gas Mileage for all Skis.
Thxs for Sharing!
Hey mate! Love your vids. May i ask, im an ocean only fisherman so dont really care about speed. I want the most stable and dryest pwc. Would you choose a 2023 fxho with smc hull or the fishpro? Thanks in advance
that doo got 7 mpg impressive nice machine if you are into fishing.
How Can Can?!
What kind of hat is that? It doesn’t fall off at 30mph? Amazing
I so want Togo. 😊
Can you provide your GoPro setup?
Great video! I just got my Fish Pro and new to the PWC world. Did you vent (remove the seat) the bilge after using the gas caddy? How easy is the gas caddy to fill in the water? Thanks!
@@watercraftjournal I was told to pull the seat to vent after filling up with fuel…like I said novice…thanks!
While the seadoo fuel caddy has the benefit of utilizing the LinQ system. Most of us long range riders use a PWC Superrack along with 2 - 5 gal sure gas cans they are easier to use as they have a bendable spout IMHO! Rule of thumb is about 4-5mpg averaging 40-50mph with bursts of open throttle* - *Disclaimer: Your mileage may vary!
the fuel port on this new ski are not under the seat, the last ski i i had in the 90 u had to remove the seat, not on these one s
I'm starting to rig my '23 FX Cruiser HO for going offshore out of the Clearwater area. I was thinking I could go 30-35 miles out and back on one tank with a cooler and gear. The yamaha fuel alert beeps non stop once you get down to a 1/4 tank
You can disable that. Just unplug the beeper. Little 2 wire connector on driver side in front storage compartment. up high. Easy Peasy
FzR sho goes 110 miles and still had some range. Open ocean 3-5 ft waves
Would also love compared it with a rxtx
I did 80km on light offshore swells on my gtx300 used just under quarter tank if gauge was right I could have done 320km(200 miles)on one tank
I bought Fish Pro recently and Garmin doesn't show the depth and fish, should i install anything additional?
Can can can you do the can can
Haha. Just wondering how you drive out 18 gallons of fuel then make it back on 2?? Just messing with you.... Thanks for being out there keeping the pwc life going.
yamaha vx deluxe tr1 holds the record for longest run on a tank 18 gall times 7 mpg
And now with three people😊
Depends on how fast you want to get there.
👏👏👍👍
High speed Quality Mph Jet 🎿 Sea Doo RX260 and RX300 mostly expensive then Kawasaki Ultra 310LX and GP1300 🌊 runner YAMAHA .
How can ?
That's pretty damn impressive. I'd love to see the same test with a 300 in eco. I'd do it myself, but I'm a bit of a pussy 😂
Should have a 300 w you
How far into ocean, not next to coast lines? So tell us how far into ocean?
Why would I buy this instead of a cheap, used 2 person ski? I could add everything this has for a fraction of the price..?
You could add a fish finder, mud rods and never spend this kind of money.
Must be nice.
I think it would’ve been a better test for how far you could go if you loaded down the Sea-Doo with coolers rods and reels put some weight on it like a normal fisherman. Would you want it completely empty just that extra tank of gas where is your food and water? You’re going to be out all day long nothing to eat or drink specially to drink, not a true test. Where is your mothership?
We did it as such because this is how someone on an Explorer Pro or a GTX 170 would've gone (naturally aspirated engine and all).
Fish pro needs more horsepower, 230 to 300 horsepower
Fishermen would rather have the range and MPG. I’ve seen Sea-Doo’s questionnaire results.
And another one! Yup helicopters would go faster with more horsepower too! You wouldnt gain a thing with more horsepower your impellor, pump inlet and nozzle dictate what you would call power of a watercraft..yes if you upgraded the intake impellor and nozle it would require more power too push the water volume, but as is the horspower is allready more then needed too drive the inlet, empellor and nozle of that machine..you might change the intake grate, upgrade the impellor and pick up some power..
What's eco mode 🤔🤔🤔 is it standard on every ski 😂😂😂😂 mine only sees sport mode 😂 and runs a lot with a full tank of petrol 😂😂😂 worse case just carry some extra fuel... Nice video
Far Far…
Too many commercials before the video started. Never made it to the video.
Music sucks brother! Next time just use the audio from your voice, would be a lot better
Nice video.
Horrible music.
How can can??? 😂😂😂😂. That doesn't make any sense and nor does fishing on a danm pwc either 😂
Finally, somebody makes a video worth watching! The background music was perfect.
