1) Even as a kid I hated when the hair had the plastic and stitching attached to it.
2) Omg. From your video I just learned that when I inherited some old barbies from my cousin I got Stacie from this collection.
I made it 100 likes
@Maddie sucks at stuff sadly no
Wow
Wow you are very rich
I had the Polly Pocket holding the balloons from my own cousin lol
Older Barbie dolls sure do look more interesting than the new ones.
I've noticed that too. Also, what happened to those rubber bendy legs from 2014 and prior?
I agree even though i had both the older and the newer ones, my mom owned the older ones before i did
Ikr
And there cheaper back in the day bc if you wanted a Barbie doll now it's like 20 bucks and back in the day there like 11
I still have Polly Pocket Stacie from when I was young. I remember the kid dolls but not the Barbie. I've never had an old playline doll's rings or earrings stain, but those hair elastics are done for. I love seeing the old catalogs too. The Kelly in crib, the Baywatch dolls, the Tropical Splash dolls, YES this was my era! Pure nostalgia.
Oooh did her elastics snap?! I wonder. So good to know that they haven't stained I have had it happen once or twice from a faux gold and a faux silver.
I thought the additional poster was awesome, so neat to see all those older sets, now I want them hahaha.
@@NexJen I think the staining is more so from the "metal" colored jewelry not the other plastic colors like pink for example..??
OMG I feel old. I'm only 23 and wasn't huge into barbies as a kid but I distinctly remember the ones I had to have the snap legs, the finger ring and the white underwear. Never knew that those are "vintage signs" that changed since then.
I'm 33 and I want to hop on Amazon and nab one! XD
I'm a teenager, but I have dolls with all of those features. In fact, my first Barbie dolls (most of which were hand me downs) have those ring fingers, and have the rubber bendy legs, which were unfortunately discontinued in 2015.
@Rach Yeah my mom heard about the hipe of the film and bought the doll. and then she gave it to me, She was the one I played with the most and I still have her 🥰
I'm excited, so I thought I'd come here to over share: I'm crocheting a dog infinity scarf as I enjoy this video. Just really wanted to share that.
Thank you Jen for the heart!! I also wanted to congratulate you for reaching 200k suscribers, and wish for 300k of us soon too :)
My brain went to a dog wearing an infinity scarf that’s what I get for staying up till 2am I still kinda hope that there is a warm doggo somewhere
wait, do you mean a scarf for a dog or a scarf with a dog on it? 😂 either way, that’s really cool!
That sounds too adorable.

As a doll collector who loves fixing up old dolls, I thought I'd let you know you usually won't have to worry about regular plastic accessories like the earrings or rings staining the doll, at least not with dolls manufactured after the 60s. It's usually if they have a metallic finish, either because of being actual metal or a shiny metallic paint, that you usually find staining, and it usually happens mainly on the face or rubber legs (something to do with the chemical reaction between the rubber/vinyl and the metal, I'm sure). It was actually an issue with Luna Mothews from the Monster High doll line, the one with the metallic headpiece. The metallic copper color stains her ears if left on.
As a side note, I wonder if maybe Janet was created later, and if that's why Stacie's box only shows her and Whitney, but then Mattel realized, "Hey, maybe we shouldn't exclude the black friend?" I'm sure they probably designed Stacie's box first since she would have taken priority over Whitney (because, you know, she's the main friend), and they may have printed her boxes before deciding to add Janet. It might also explain why Janet didn't get foam in her backpack, if they were trying to get a bunch of them made quickly before the line launched, and it could also be why she seems to have more problems. If they needed to manufacture her quickly, the quality control may have been lacking. Unfortunately, Mattel didn't always give all of the friends the attention and love they deserved . . .
Yeah, but in that case Whitney and Stacie would have the same packaging, but in this case it's Whitney and Janet who have the same packaging. If Janet was only included into the line later on after Whitney and Stacie, she wouldn't be featured on Whitney's packaging. It's just a bit weird.
@@Alex-km9uw maybe stacy is from the "first wave" and the other 2 are from the "second wave" when janet was made

Seeing you super happy made me happy. I know that sounds cheesy but with all of the negativity in the world right now, it is nice to see some positivity. Congrats on 200k subscribers!
🤗❤️ I'm so glad it made you happy. I get super. Great happy for others excitement too. There's no reason to be sad all the time. The world can be dark and we're all clearly struggling right now, it can be nice to just forget about all of that for awhile and just feel childlike joy. Transport yourself back to the blissful ignorance of childhood. It can be freeing sometimes. 🤗❤️ Thank you so much for watching and taking the time to comment, I'm so glad you enjoyed the video and had time to smile today. 🤗🐝
NexJen hello I love your videos
Hi there! Thank you so much 🤗
Cherish Ackerman I know thanks for being so positive
Hi Jen I love your videos ,they make me so happy . Thank you so much and also congrats on 200k!
1994 doesn’t seem so long ago until I stop and realize I was born in 1994. These dolls are 26yrs old and definitely are in great condition. Super cute collaboration💖

Omg I would!
NexJen pls do 😂
NexJen hi again
I bought some sort of Stacey from the thrift store and she had a rubber band that was deteriorating as well. It’s not very fun to pick out 🤮
Please do more vintage doll videos! Especially restoration videos. I find them interesting as someone who does it myself. There’s a lack of quality restoration videos on CZcams (that I haven’t watched yet lol).
Also if you collect vintage MLP please post about them too 😭 Barbie and MLP is what I specialize in and there’s not too many vintage MLP videos on CZcams ...
Yesss!! I would also love this. I collect vintage dolls and vintage ponies too! :D
that would be fun to watch

200k is a lot when you consider most concert venues cannot hold that many, between 15-20 thousand of us would miss out if you rented out Disneyland for us. (80-85 thousand guests allowed at park!)
That's an awesome way to picture it. And Disney reference made it even more amazing! Made my night 🤩
NexJen welcome!
I'm an adult collector, and love your retro/vintage videos! Love your new girls! Always wanted Janet and Whitney from this line. Would love to see more of your personal collection of older dolls and how you display them.
Btw, *to fix the cracked neck.* Heat up the head with a blow dryer and remove it. Use clear 2 part epoxy and apply into the crack with a sewing needle. Then use a wood clamp (something with rubberized grips as to not scratch her) and leave her overnight. Then just put the head on!
😭thank you I'll have to try that!!! ❤️
@@NexJen No problem! :) Good luck!!
@@NexJen Careful with the heating, it can melt the glue inside the head that's holding the hair on- that might also be why Barbie's hair was shedding so much, the glue inside could be deteriorating. Since you'll be taking Janet's off anyway, it might be worth poking in there with a Q-tip to see if it's flaking out- if it is, you can use Fabric Glue inside to stick everything back down properly on all four!
@@Palitato All my dolls shed a little bit from my experience, but after a while all the lose hairs are gone and its ok. I unbox a lot of 80's and 90s dolls and they hold up to my styling which says a lot to their quality & resilience lmao! Boil washes, curling, and all!

The 90's Barbies are on the retro side of style which I adore, love your videos Jen ( especially the vintage). I am happy for you that you hit 200K subscribers, really nice going back to see the old toys while quarantine (giving me flashbacks).
I always hated dolls as a kid, but as an adult I’m considering collecting them lol
I love seeing the older barbies it just seems like there Is so much more attention to detail and the hair is rooted so well
Jen! Your channel has been my go to comfort entertainment for a while now, I love how committed you are to your reviews and believe me that your lovable personality shines through the screen, keep doing what you love and we'll keep on watching!
The old Barbie is seriously so cute, pretty, and more detailed than the current one! And the one in this video is even better because of polly pocket! Love that the polly can be stored in the doll's clothes, so cute!!

I loved this! Huge fan of the 90s barbies. I recently found a complete used Janet doll in excellent condition along with 4 or 5 more dolls and only paid $30 for them all. I lucked out!
One of my minions loved Polly and she got really mad when they "ruined" them by making Polly bigger. We only ever found the Whitney in this line!
@@user-mc6vw3os3y my siblings' children and assorted friends.... got tired of always saying nephews and nieces.
I love all the clothes!! Especially barbies! Would definitely wear that in real life!!
My grandma kept most of my aunt's old Barbies from the 80s/90s, and she talked about how hard it was to find the black barbie dolls, I dunno this video reminded me of them. (cool video though!)
Aiyanna Boykins makes them worth more value wise, which is what any collector would want.

The rings on the barbies were great 🥺 this was so fun. I’m so proud of you and thank you for always showing us cool things.
I think I lost a lot of those Barbie rings when I was a kid, so that's probably why they don't make Barbie rings anymore.
I definitely didn’t realize it until you opened Stacie’s backpack and took off her skirt but, I definitely had her as a little kid! 🖤 it’s great to travel down memory lane and be reminded of something you had at one time! 😊

As a 16 year old I was able to enjoy the more child oriented greatbigtoxbox and i’m still here enjoying you as NextJen. It feels like the channel grew up with me. Thankyou for making these videos Jen. I love them! :)
Hearing you mention Caboodles was so nostalgic. My mom actually bought me one for Christmas last year that I now use for my toiletries. Not Barbie themed but in bright teal and purple, very early 90s haha.
You're so cute being so happy about Barbie and Polly Pocket! I totally get it too. I love your t-shirt! I'd totally forgotten how adorable Whitney was with her little heart glasses!
OMG I had the Barbie roller-skates back in the 90's. I am a baby of the 80s so these toys are from my childhood. It really brings me back.
I always loved Polly Pocket but was always afraid I would lose her or the pieces. I love how excited you get, gets me excited too.
My friend used to love melting bars of chocolate and dipping Doritos in it. So if they ever did come out with chocolate covered Doritos I think she’d be pretty happy 😆
I 100% had that Whitney set when I was little. The backpack itself was the biggest hit of nostalgia for some weird reason.
Congrats on 200k, a well deserved milestone!
Thank you so much 🤗
@@NexJen you make me happy
I am having rampant flashbacks watching this. Not the dolls specifically, but the backpacks, especially Stacys. That pink just sent me back to childhood. Once you opened it to show the inside I freaked out, that interior is exactly what I had as a kid. 1994 I was 3-ish, so I must have gotten it later at some point.
I couldn't help but laugh at the thought that toys from 1994 were "vintage"! It seems like yesterday to me! Being born in 1965 I had some of the earliest Barbie dolls although they were all well played with and my mother must have donated or thrown them away when we moved from Connecticut to Maine. *sigh* But I love your cheery, toy-filled videos! You got me addicted to LOL dolls that I open and share with my granddaughter. We are taking care of them waiting for the day when they will be vintage!

@@NexJen Hi:D thanks for answering!
I dare say they are cool (you can look them up on CZcams;)😄☺️ I just thought you kind of have a similar way of talking😅
Aaaahhhh! That Whitney was one of the Barbies I had as a child! I loved her for many years! I have no memory of her coming with Polly Pockets but I guess she did, lol.
Omg Jen this was so much fun! I love it when you introduce stuff that I never thought existed or even would enjoy! These are super cool and I'd totally pick up the Barbie! Her dress is super cute! And mood on the toy collecting, toys are awesome and fun. And we all need a dash of fun and laughter in our lives (however that may be to each individual). You're one of the big reasons I started actually indulging in my want for toys, especially dolls! I've been wanting monster high dolls since my teens but was too self-conscious to request them for my birthday or Christmas. So I ended up missing out on something great but now I have my own money and a bit more confidence so my doll collection is growing!
If you don't mind me asking, if you've come across them what do you think of the change from the cardboard playsets to plastic carrying case hairdorables have done with their series 4? Personally, I'm not big on it but the dolls themselves are still awesome!
Anyways, I love how entertaining you make education and every vid you make if interesting and fascinating in their own way. Keep up being awesome!
Congratulations on your achievements.
I never seen this one when I was a child. They are amazing
The hsir quality is brilliant, the amount of hair as well
I'm assuming that Janet wasn't done as well due to the state of things that were going on in America during that time.
Ah! I'm 31 and had the Stacie from this collection! Totally forgot until I saw it in this video, so thanks for the memories! ☺️🎀
Weird me fact: I had hot pink high heeled shoes when I was in high school. My high school was ten stories tall. I wore them once. I also had the Barbie roller skates (loved them), a Barbie tabletop pinball machine (loved it, can't find it online... can you?). I wish I had my Mother's Barbie California house to send to you (it was HUGE, took up a ton of floor real estate). I would also give you my Barbie alarm clock (funny how the fm cable antenna got better reception when I held it), the Barbie "cd" (they were fake) player, Barbie cell phone, "landline" phone with big purple buttons... gee, I had a lot of Barbie.
Wait a sec... Did the CD player have fake cds to put in it so it would play a different song depending on the cd?
If so I had that one!
@@chipmunkwarcry Yup! The discs had a combination of bumps on the bottom that would press in corresponding buttons that would tell the player what song to play. I used to just mess around pressing the buttons and making the device think it was closed so it would play a song.
Congrats Jen!! you deserve all of the subs!! It's refreshing and so uplifting to watch a content creator who is unapologetically joyous about what they share, your energy and your charisma makes all your videos interesting to me, even those featuring collectibles I'm not familiar with and I learn about them with you.
I remember this collection! I wanted the Whitney doll so bad! But if they ever came to my country, my parents missed it at the time, or maybe they were too expensive. A blend of Barbies and Pollys was like a dream for a 90s kid lol.
I think that the two Pollys from Janet's set you were unsure of are from two Pop Ups sets from 1992, the flower-holding one looks like a re-painted Polly from the Pop Ups Flower set and the long haired one looks like the doll from the Pop Ups Butterfly set. It would have been a good move from Mattel to put in the boxes which sets they were from, to prompt interest, but like you said, Polly info was lacking in these boxes.
I think my favorite doll from 1994 might have been Baywatch Barbie, I played with it all the time, she came with a lot of accessories and a dolphin that made sounds, I'm pretty sure I still have them safe in a box. My cousin had in 1994 a Polly I always wanted but didn't get to own at the time, Grandma's Cottage, I loved that it had a window seat and I was obsessed with the window seat in Muppet Babies lol I used the window from the Magical Movin' playset as a makeshift window seat when it was opened because the design of the house was similar. It's so funny to me now that having Magical Movin' Pollyville, which had so many cool features, I was concerned with the window seat situation, but kids' minds work in mysterious ways.
Are these reproductions?? Cause if they are originals than whoa....
Judging by the packaging, deterioration of elastic bands, cost, and outdated information ( referring to the phone number ) I would assume they’re originals. But I’m bad at guessing things, so I could be wrong. Edit: I also wanted to mention that the articulation is a bit bad so that may be helpful with knowing as well.
They are originals.
I’m pretty sure they haven’t came out out with reproductions of these dolls, so I’m pretty sure they are original
Aimee Kane no these aren’t reproductions , Jen would have mentions if it was a reproduction
Ps I’m not trying to be rude 😃😃😃😃😃
These are all from 1994 so they are original, but I would totally buy them if Mattel did a reproduction!!! We should start a petition!!! 🤣 Spread the word!!
Oh my God this video brought back my memory of owning that Barbie dance VHS 😱 I would play it everyday & follow along when I was like 6 😂
