Focusing on itemization and runes is only useful so far as it impacts your gameplay. If you run fleet dshield second wind akali it changes the options in front of you for playing your lane as opposed to dring electrocute. For the vast majority of players (like anything below master) playing the suboptimal strategy well will not only lead to better results, but also longer lasting results that will stick with you patch to patch
I don't know why but I have been watching all your videos on my phone so I can't really comment, but I just wanted to say that I appreciate your videos and your take to approaching the game. It is a lot more grounded, consistent and realistic. Keep up the good stuff.
I found myself enjoying champs that have something unique in their kits and also for design. Maybe it's sound stupid, but that's true for. The second champion I bought when I started playing league was pre big rework Asol in s11 and I started one tricking him (sadly I don't enjoy new Asol), I also play other champs like Thresh (which is my highest maestry), Rakan, Taliyah, Azir, Swain because I found their kit quite unique, interesting and flexible. For example Swain and his W, u can use it to gain vision on objectives, slows enemy's, push side waves and getting stacks. Azir is just whole another level, Rakan is very simple but his kit made him fit most of the support roles in one champ, simular to Thresh. Taliyah is champion with only 2 dmg ability's, but she is one of the best champ's to counter dashes and her R could be use in many different ways. The one champion that don't fit with unique or flexible kit that I enjoy is Pantheon, because he is Spartan and I love his design. I also planning to learn Qiyana and I if like her, maybe I will start playing her more.

Have you tried ingenious hunter with some combination of ludens companion, stormsurge, banshees veil and horizon focus? Seems like the move when you don't have to build archangels staff

Items and runes at important to the game but is a skill we should be at the floor and not focusing on the ceiling. We should know to not build steel caps against a full AP team. Does the enemy have two tanks with force of nature? We should build a void staff. Two crit champs build randuins. That’s really about it. But knowing something like building frostfire on udyr against fiora because the slow prevents her from hitting vital procs let’s you 1v1 her is unnecessary mental stack.

Hey bro, ive been trying to reach challenger on support and im having issues trying to narrow down my pool... do you think 3 champs max applies to support too? considering these champions are often mechanically easier and have significantly different kits (things to offer comps).
It's really hard to say since I have never mained support, but I know generally having a larger support champion pool is more accepted and beneficial. I would recommend watching content from Coach Cupcake, he is a really good support coach and will have a more informed answer on that

ngl, as of lately I've been hiding my poor gameplay behind unusual builds, they act like a crutch and on matches I can't rely on them I do end up missing that edge.
I did improve a bit past couple of seasons and it was in accordance to your videos. That said, I'm not really trying that hard, but that attitude seems to have some relation to my improvement. Playing looser, taking more risks, experimenting, testing limits. Now, if I had the patience to pick the champs I don't completely understand to see how to vs them....
Funny, a Kayn OTP was challenged to win with Kayn Ap, he played in emerald and build all Ap, which doesn't really help Kayn. He won out of fundamentals and knowledge of his champ. People are drawn way too easily to those click bait "this is OP, abuse it now" and they might win more... But hit a wall when fundamentals appear.
I main Rek'sai top and have done so for a while now and honestly even the most doomed matchups often have things you can do to win.
So the tl:dr that I'm getting at is
Focusing too much on playing the meta prevents you from actually learning and getting good at the game. You KNOW it's the best build, but don't understand WHY it's the best build, which leads to bad plays and questionable decision making. This leads to loss games as one fails to capitalize on the strengths of their Champion and Items.
You can copy someone's else's blueprints, but you still need to build the house yourself, and without the foundation, the construction is doomed to failure.
As a fellow Taliyah one trick idk how u manage not taking mana in ur runes lol. I play phase rush taliyah btw and love it I think first strike is so boring even if it gives u like 1000+ gold a game I don’t like it
Yeah I honestly think you don't need the mana in your runes if you are timing bases well and getting tear first base. Phase rush is good for sure but electro has been my preferred rune by far
@@Sentrial i usually buy tear first base but dont buy a lost chapter or complete archangels until second item... that way i can go cosmic drive or whatever i want first

1st
Some items can completely change your playstyle and enable your champ to perform a lot better.
Examples(will use data from lolalytics, current patch, emerald+):
1st. Twitch with botrk(59k games) as his first item, having 54.64% winrate, collector first(3.5k games) having 57.24% so it's almost 3% difference which is a lot. And from just my gameplay collector enable you to play extremely agressive and make a lot of unexpected kills for enemies.
2nd example: Tristana with kraken first(33k games) as her first item having 52.13% winrate, collector first(1k games) having 54.06% winrate. so it's basically 2% winrate difference. And again - it'll let you to snowball much-much harder.
So, my point is: most of the champs having much better item choices but people building most popular ones, reducing your chances to win the game. If your goal is improve, then items doesn't matter that much(unless it's some exotic build that you need to buy in 1/100 games), but if you want to perform better on your champ, having more winrate overall, then you can just check lolalytics. It'll cost you 1-3 minutes max and you'll know about good items much more than average(or sometimes otp) player on your champ.
And another good advice - don't just copy builds from pro players, yeah, they're pro players but they're still humans. They also sometimes don't know what to build(if you're not trusting me, just check corki winrate with building pro players items - manamune first, malignance second and eclipse third or leblanc ad in patch 14.1 when pro players still picking her and building ad)
