Joe, MEHRAM means a FAMILY MEMBER or SOMEONE CLOSE TO YOU. But here MEHRAM is used for SPOUSE. It means a person to whom you don't need to cover or hide yourself, someone who is truly yours, by soul and by heart.

Literal meaning of Mehram is someone you cannot marry. But in Urdu poetry words are used to allude a lot of things that are not literally related to the meaning of the world. For example chaand sa chehra. if you look at moon you'll realise it's just an ugly piece of rock floating in the sky

Right around 6:10 when she said "tu mehram na raha" for the 2nd time with a stretch and high note/pitch, that's when it really hit me and I was feeling it with some tears. But at 6:25 when Asfar started saying "mai sun raha" that is when eyes were all flowing like a river

Mehram means someone with whom you do not have to do Pardah. For a woman this means her family members specially male members and her husband. For the men it means his female family members and his wife. In this song the word mehram has been used to represent someone he/she loved and so had no boundaries/parda with.

Yes, word MEHRAM means blood relatives with whom you can't marry, it also means your spouse who in Islamic Terminology completes your Faith. But, it also means SACRED.
Here its been symbolic only to express the bond of a relationship between two lovers who could not marry. But, love is so strong that it has taken this relationship to level of HURMAT (sacredness).

The word "Mehram" originates from Arabic, and the literal meaning is someone whom you can live your life with for example your life partner, your spouse or your lover. Because of the human relationships this word applies to, poets have used this word very extensively. A Mehram is your etheric double, your dopple ganger, your hamzad, someone who is a part of your body, mind and soul, and when that relationship breaks, you die, that how gut wrenching the sentence becomes when some one says that he/she is not my mehram anymore.

I have been following Arooj Aftab since 2004-05 when I heard her sing Hallelujah on the radio.. her covers for Comfortably Numb and Mera Bichra Yar are mesmerizing.. and her original music is beautiful.. one of the lesser known singers in Pakistan but is possibly the best female Pakistani singer of her generation

Waiting for ur reaction since it's released ..... The reaction I kinda expect from u from ppl who can understand n truly lived those emotions ,this song is so painfully beautiful , visually it's so gothic gives me a feeling of a dream , the dream which I'm watching rt in front of my eyes , the song is so real so naturally broken I'm beyond amazed how can someone creat such grief.....both the singers fitted perfectly, it has made the kind of impact that since it's released I hear that song 100 times but couldn't finished it at one go ,because I just lost myself within 10 secs n it feels like my heart would explode then I've to stop it n start it again ......it's something else ,not just music it's something else

Absolute song and it promoted me to wtite some words here, Arooj has been my fav cause of her voice while she was graduating music at U.S went from lahore and now you see her with firm music proportions. Great. Thanks xulfi for bringing her upto audiences fonding her, Asfar, the man wth pure voice they both took the lyrics quite in a music manners. Afendi (someone commented) has decribed the center word MEHRAM very precisely, yes; this song grabbed me bck to my times whr u genuinely considered her ur spouse, but the transition made the two; apart and then they both are no more MEHRAMS of each other and the song ending with low nodes tell you my dear let her go; not part of you, not part of you since ages. Heighted Brilliance ❤️ love coke studios.
