Even in the pit, there is etiquette. If you note, right after the Jump, someone gets downed in the bottom center, and folks are helping him up and checking on him. Wife got kicked in the face by a diver accidentally at Lords of Acid, and folks took her aside to check on her. Metalheads are sweethearts

I’ve been to a slayer show and a guy in a wheelchair crowd surfed and Tom called it a miracle. Small venue to arenas every show I’ve been to is full of awesome people who just want to have a good time. You get the occasional asshole but they usually get pushed into the pit and fuck off.

She IMMEDIATELY started headbanging! I'm telling you it's innate! ANYONE can go to a metal show! They just have to have situational awareness and at least one other experienced person looking out for them to help them avoid any actually dangerous situations. Not that the people are dangerous. Just that some people are better at judging whether a section of a mosh pit is more likely to produce accidental harm than another. In some places, there's no moshing at all and even much older or disabled people can enjoy the show. Don't let the moshing you see scare you!

I’ve taken my young daughter to a Slipknot show! It is an amazing SHOW. Just stay out of the mosh pit. Mosh pits at metal shows are different from hip hop in that they’re very intense and rough. But! If you fall down, you can be absolutely positive that someone is going to pick you up and get you moving again. Then when the songs over, everyone bumps fists, hugs, etc. Metal crowds are actually extremely friendly, but scary looking. Just go, it will be an amazing experience.

One Slipknot concert, I went into a moshpit, and after a few minutes had a seizure. They stopped the moshpit and everyone carried me out checked on me and called the paramedics. Afterwards, the guys in the moshpit went over to the stands, and EACH of them bought me water ( I must have had 20 bottles of water when I woke up) and stood there until I woke up giving me bottles of water and made sure that I was okay. Metalheads are the best fans you will ever find. We are a family that gets together every concert. We pick eachother up when the other falls down, we stop the pit if even your glasses fall off or you lost a shoe. You'll never be alone and you'll never have to worry about anything at a metal concert.

Lol cmon man! You think everyones just beating each other up all over the place? Naw, I'm tellin you seeing them in person is fucking amazing! You're totally safe if you simply stay out of the mosh pit! Everyone else is just jumpin up and down, shouting the lyrics, headbanging like crazy, crowd surfing, just havin a bad ass good time.
The ENERGY in the crowd is why people love to see slipknot concerts imo. Slipknot is SO passionate and SO full of energy its absolutely incredibly contagious! I swear even someone who somehow wandered into a Slipknot concert with zero experience with heavy metal let alone Slipknot would feel emotionally exhausted after the show because they couldn't help but get hyped with everyone else. Its such a wild ride I'm telling you anyone would appreciate why this band and their concerts are so positively talked about by everyone whos actually seen them live.
I swear, the fans would totally make you and your family feel completely welcome and believe it or not you'd feel completely accepted. Slipknot/metal fans are so much more accepting of people who are new to the genre/band then the sometimes toxic fandoms of a fair amount of pop audiences. For example, even the people poppin off in a mosh pit will help each other up and are very aware that one of the main things about a mosh pit is you can go let out all that energy but at the same time no ones going in there looking to body someone (obviously there are shitheads out there and trust me no one, including Slipknot, appreciates those assholes and they get called out, THEN you're likely to see a true ass whoopin on those assholes). On the other hand all those thousands of little girls at a pop concert can be fuckin viscous if anyone is even close to lowering their concert experience slightly. You'll get your ass whooped for trying to work your way up closer to the stage, no doubt lmao. They feel entitled to "their" spot and ain't nobody gonna tell em different, doesn't matter how polite you are about it either. You're gonna catch some hands/claws/fangs from the mob of 12 year old girls. I know this because...lets move on!
I'm tellin you you and you're daughter would be safe, and have an unforgettably badass time. Don't believe the stereotype that Slipknot concerts must be dangerous because its simply not true! The people in danger go in the pit knowing full well its somewhat dangerous but thats where the thrill comes from. *cough* Long rambling story short, be a badass dad and take whoever in your family wants to see slipknot live! The memories you all would share because of it is reason enough if you ask me damnit! (Yeah no one asked me but fuck it.) PS I appreciate anyone who takes the time to read through all this shit, whether you agree or not.

Depending on the venue, she would be perfectly safe. I’ve seen them twice in Jersey at the PNC Bank Arts Center. If you’re in the seats, not lawn, there’s no mosh pits. I’ve seen children as young as 5 rocking out at their concerts. My husband, who is most definitely not a metal head, thoroughly enjoyed the show. They are extremely energetic, as well as talented. They put on an amazing show that pulls in even my easy listening and country music loving husband. Thank you for sharing your reaction. I only watched your video because of your viewing a Slipknot song. The Slipknot family of fans are called Maggots. So, from the bottom of the maggots heart, thank you.

The drummer for Slipknot in 2009 was Joey Jordison. Jay Weinberg didn’t take over till around 2014.

From the drummers perspective while he's spinning on the 90 degree angle... It looks like there is a massive wall of thousands of people jumping... Must be a unique sight

The show I went to was right after he needed surgery on his needs l neck. Corey came out with a black neck brace on and still jumped the f up.
He got my respect for that.
Still one of the most amazing concerts I been to.

This is the original line up. It’s sad that not even a year after this show was played, Paul Gray (The Bassist) passed away. I’m so happy I got to see them the year before at Mayhem 2008. RIP #2.

Hey the first time I saw Slipknot I was 15 and weighed maybe 110 lbs and I came out out unscathed (more or less, had some bruises and few scrapes also ended up passing out due to dehydration but that was my fault for not drinking enough water at an outdoor concert in the middle of summer.) I was also so chemically influenced which did not help my situation. Saw them again last year and once again a few bumps and bruises but no major damage. As long as she stays clear of the pits and keeps an eye out for crowd surfers (cause they hurt when they fall on you) she'll be fine. I'm hoping to yake my 2 son's who are 10 and 11 to a show this year (virus permitting 😒) Of course I will not have them down on the floor in the crowd but some nice seat tickets will be good. Of course I can also understand your position, it does look kinda scary. 😂

It's very heartwarming to see the loving interaction you have together. It reminds me of my daddy; I was very close to him. :) And you better take that baby girl to a concert! lol The first time concert experience together will be amazing.

If you hang out near the back of the general admission or get a seat, you'll be more than safe. I'm getting a little old but I still get right to the edge of the pits. No one is intentionally trying to hurt anyone and if they are, they're removed quickly. People fall down, someone picks them up quickly. Slipknot shows are such a great experience, that energy coming through the screen is insane in person.

I went to the 2019 Knotfest and I have to say it was one of the best experiences I've ever had. The metal head community is one big family they look after each other to ensure that everyone has a good time.

I just want to applaud you, sir. I love that your daughter is open to listen new things, and that you don't censor the art.
I can surmise with a high probability from experience that your girl would be safe at a Slipknot concert, just stay to the sides near exits, and away from the pit. People tend help one another out at these events and most people don't want to see a little girl (young lady) having fun to get hurt. Outdoor venues are usually a little safer, except for sunlight and staying hydration, but I think it's been a while since Slipknot did clubs and smaller halls anyway. I ran pyro for some their shows back when I was blowing things up for a living, so I am privy to certain venues' safety reports for those events because we had to pay for any damages we cause due to misfires or neglect. The band members are good for promptly calling out sexual harassment or fights to security and having people removed during the set who keep causing issues (and I think the majority of the band members have daughters of their own, so they understand), and Corey Taylor has been known to stop a set if persistent violence keeps happening and calm the crowd down, but those things are rare. I think the worst thing would be the culture shock or people wearing their concert suits and maybe seeing some stray kids sneaking around smoking pot. I think my daughters and son were 13 (or 12), 11 and 9 when I stuck them in the front row, left side of the stage. People used to give me so much crap about taking my 9 year old, but I'd always spit back, and 11 makes a difference?
I always tell parents who take their children to watch any concert to get seats or stand near the closest exit. That way you can promptly leave or be as first out as possible if an emergency situation did arise.

I saw Slipknot in London in January this year and I have been going to Metal and Rock concerts since I was 14 (I am now late 20s) Metal heads are seriously the nicest people you will ever meet, if your daughter wants to go to one of their concerts, I would definitely say that Slipknot are one of the easier going Metal bands to see live re - crowds. And just stay away from the mosh pits! The atmosphere, the performance and the music is amazing and you will have the best time of your life! 🖤

I was 15 when I went to my first metal concert, Disturbed and Drowning Pool (original lead singer). I've lost count of the concerts I've been to since. Metal heads are super nice. They also tend to be very protective of small/young people

Corey is a very talented and clever man. If you'd like to see more of Corey's talent check out his other band Stone Sour and react to Bother, Through The Glass or Song 3. It's still rock but more mainstream

Corey Taylor has one of my favorite acoustic shows ever in London! For people that think he can only shout... Slipknot - Vermilion Part 2 and that solo acoustic album are great reminders of why Corey Taylor is considered one of the best mainstream vocalists nowadays... The man knows what he is doing even when he shouts! \o/
