      Also neutral here. I am okay with them clearing the tackle, even if it was a bit touch and go - at least they looked. There was another, very important as it turns out, poor decision though, and that was the kick chase that led to the Quins first try where every chaser was in front of the kicker. 2 touch judges, a referee and a TMO (protocol aside) and this crap is still let slide. Hope the refereeing in the upcoming Lions tour is better than what we have seen on offer in Premiership and Trans Tasman; would hate to see it marred by poor officiating.

      As a Quins fan I agree, probably a yellow as the player did change height and it was shoulder to head. But, having watched the full match, the highlights make this seem like a giant moment in the game. There were 20 tight calls that could have changed the game that went for and against both teams. I think it is a bit naïve to point at one incident and say that was the only reason a team lost, or to only look at calls that went against Bristol. That's football fan type stuff. The best game of rugby I have ever seen. Full of attacking running rugby right from the start. Twelve tries. No tedious scrum resets. No argy-bargy between the teams. No boring repeated attempts at simply barging over the line (hello Exeter!). Strong and clear refereeing (OK one controversial decision, but that would not have changed the winner). I think it should have been a penalty minimum and probably a yellow. The fact that he somehow didn't make contact with the head was luck not judgement. It was reckless play. He did not drop down to make the tackle and the ball carrier had not unexpectedly changed levels. It seemed like they were looking for an excuse to not call it. They are supposed to be making the calls based on how dangerous the play is, not whether somebody actually dies.

    Not a Quins or Bears fan but this was a great game of rugby and a great advert for the game judging from the highlights. With all that talk about the tackle at the end its great to see sanity and logic prevail for a change. It wasn't high, it wasn't late and he didn't tackle with malice and he had his arms wrapped around the player. The head of the tacking player's actually hits his opposition's shoulder so he doesn't make any contact with the head. Agree that there needs to be more consistency but that's only because of the legit tackles being penalised and so it becomes the norm. Armchair refs need to stop getting their panties in such a bunch.

    Why is nobody showing or talking about the Bristol attempted conversion after their extra time try? They missed because (I think) they went for a rushed drop goal. Meant they then had to chase for the last few minutes. Can anyone explain what happened?

  • @arugbygentlemankirielenko535

    i think that you cannot underestimate the impact of ex munster/irish hooker flannery on the quins' aggressive mindset and never say die attitude .... gone is the historic "soft centre" to be replaced by a steely resolve with a huge amount of skill. at this level no team should be able to overcome a 28 point deficit but thank goodness the quins did as for a (neutral) rugby fan this was simply a brilliant match !

    • @almcdonald8676
      @almcdonald8676 Před 3 lety

      Looking at that Chisholm try again the offside is even more blatant. The quins player lying on the wrong side of the ruck gets to his knees at 3:00 tripping the Bristol SH and disturbing his pass allowing quins to gather. It was so noticeable I’m wondering what law exempts it. I remember Conor Murray once got a penalty out of England by pretending to trip over an England player at the base of the ruck. He was just doing it to make a point and in that case the England player didn’t suddenly jump to his knees to trip him
