  • This POLISH is one of the oldest know furniture polishes dateing back hundreds of years. European, and early colonial American polish used oils and wax to impregnate natural wood surfaces.Turpentine is a solvent derived from pine tree sap, and is used to keep the beeswax from hardening.linseed oil has been used for hundreds of years for the protection and maintenance of interior and exterior wood. Linseed oil comes from flaxseedsee plants and nourishes wood. Carnauba wax is obtained from the leaves of the carnauba palm by collecting and drying them, beating them to loosen the wax. Because it has a high-sheen without being sticky or tacky carnauba wax provides a high lustre shine and a hard protective finish for wood. This HISTORIC wood POLISH is easy to make. Please remember that turpentine is extremely flammable and should not be handled around flame or Sparks. Please also remember that linseed oil left on Rags can combustion cause a fire. It's important to dispose of Rags with linseed oil by soaking them in water and placing them in a container to avoid a fire. Please subscribe to my channel and share this video. I bet that fire mixed with the beeswax smells incredible. This is the only way to do paste wax. 🙌

    Very good, nicely done. This wax can also be used on metals as well but personally I would not use on leather.

    It could be nice to use measurments that eveyone could understand, as litres, mililitres or at least, ratios.

      I'm not sure if it was used on leather

      This is a perfect recipe for wood but I wouldn't use this on Leather. Depending on the condition and where the Leather is, there are different products and solutions. The main thing for conditioning the leather is Lanolin so if you choose a leather care product including lanolin, it will re-condition and protect the leather also saddle soap(with lanolin), Mink oil and Dubbin are great products for replenishing, nourishing and water proofing most leather goods. For terribly dried out leather; firstly Almond oil and/or Glycerin can be used to break the rigidity and toughness. Normal hand soaps/dishwashing liquids are bad for leather also olive and sunflower oils should not be used on leather as well.

    Great video! Do you perhaps know how do they make Carnauba car wax? Is it the same ingredients?

      Seems like raw Carnauba wax. You'd have to get it from the leaves of the palm themselves.

    I did not understood the proportion between beewax and carnauba.... Can tell me the percentage of each wax?

    • @alangeorgebarstow
      @alangeorgebarstow Před 6 měsíci

      He stated one quart (two pints) of beeswax to 3 tablespoons of carnauba wax. This is roughly a ratio of 21:1 of beeswax:carnauba wax. One quart is 946 millilitres. 3 tablespoons is 45 millilitres. Hope this helps.

      Caranauba wax has more shine to it than beeswax, but it’s more solid. So to avoid turning the end product into a rock solid paste, you would use much less amount. Ask me how I know😊. You can always play with the portion less or more to reach the desired form.
