I never shall forget that Dubai stayed open while everyone else was on lockdown. And that I dealt with Asians, Europeans, and Africans in Dubai, all wanting to make money. Thank you Dubai. Dubai now is like the Golden Age of NYC. Yes, I love other cities. But all cites closed, cruise ships parked,
But Dubai stayed open. The party never stops in Dubai. So Dubai always is a worthy candidate for me.
My city - DUBAI
Dubai did close for Covid they had also curfews then realized they were losing money
@@Pelusacollective I was in Dubai throughout 2021 and 2022. Dubai was open while Europe was closed and Caribbean cruises were closed. I never will reside in Europe for this reason. I cannot trust Europe, anymore. P.S. I remember the curfews in Aruba in 2020: the kitchen would close at 8:00 p.m. to allow staff to get home before curfew. Granted, some restrictive measures; but, Dubai comparatively was open and DXB was open. I have too many sad worldwide memories from this time to mention in this reply.
@@Pelusacollective Correct.

Comparing Milan to Dubai is funny as hell , you risk getting mugged and everything else.
Also as an Italian we have the highest taxes in the world, thinking that foreigners can avoid paying taxes while we pay 65% is outrageous.
Italians also hate Americans. Was there for four months and did not feel welcome, even after studying the language for three years and speaking my best.
You can pay lump sum tax in Italy. If you are making 1M and you pay 100K lump sum tax you are effectively being taxed 10% as foreigner. I'm surprised that you didn't know that as an Italian.

Very interesting... I have income in Dubai... but planning to living elsewhere... I prefer Asia... any inputs?
How did you get residency in Thailand?
Kuala Lumpur is more of a 'complete' City with a very deep and diversified cultural history. It also has a more natural eco system and is very green. You will also find absolutely excellent food in KL, almost as much diversity as in Dubai, but more than enough for you no matter what cuisine you like. It is also full of very friendly and welcoming people, not as pretentious as in Dubai. Perhaps the biggest plus is that all this beauty and culture comes at a much lower cost of living than in Dubai where things are becoming outrageously expensive to the point of almost becoming a deterrent. You are also closer to Thailand/Singapore/Vietnam/China/Japan and that whole region, but of course you are further away from Europe. Having said that, you will find daily direct flights to most of the major European capitals, so in truth it is really a non-issue.
I lived in both cities, KL and Dubai, and they are different, but if we have to compare, Dubai is better in some sectors, including safety, business environment, and even the weather.
@@TBLiov yeah give me Dubai’s lower humidity over KL’s high humidity any time. KL is a nice place though. Just not my preference between the two.

As an Indonesian who's born and raised in the ultimate overrated island Bali and lived in Mumbai-wannabe Jakarta, I have to say that Singapore and Kuala Lumpur are the two best cities in the whole ASEAN.
Well, KL is the only place that felt like home when I stepped off the plane.
Dubai is good too for so many reasons. If Malaysia had been better (cheaper), for people wanting to move there (Malaysia as a second home programme), it would have been better.
Hong Kong is good too, but the CCP wants to reduce its importance for some reason. 😒
So what the best? Base in Dubai and visit KL anytime to eat at mamaks and durian 😂
Dubai is the ultimate hotspot for business and entrepreneurs, offering a seamless online experience for docs and biz registration. Heads up for everyone considering Milan… in Italy there is a very strict law about “esterovestizione” (basically owning a company that is registered and pays taxes abroad, but you’re managing it from Italy). Every nation has similar laws about it but Italy is particularly strict on it. Basically, If you own a foreign company more than 49.9% and have an active control and management in it, it’s an Italian company, period. Also, if they find you doing some esterovestizione, it’s a very big crime and you could go to prison. Even if you have the lump sum taxation, you’ll have to register your company in Italy… which has a 27.9% corporation tax + a lot of other problems (things like… you have to anticipate your taxes for the following year). So I’d suggest moving to Italy with the lump sum taxation only if your income is truly passive.
(Source: I’m Italian)
It sounds like they do not want people to live in Italy. Very few business people with those types of holdings would go through that.
These Europeans countries are useless especially for those who wants to be wealthy alongside having a great lifestyle
You forgot to mention just one thing to get UAE residence it's very easy takes few days sitting inside UAE, it is very cheap as compared to other countries and the biggest plus is the security you get in UAE is unmatched to any of the places you mentioned. In Dubai you can leave a million dollars/euros in you super car with the keys inside and powered on, no one would ever dare to touch it, you can drop anything anywhere and you'll find it right there, this is the reason why people prefer Dubai, specifically the people who are into cash rich business.
Safest country. I have never locked my house even when away on holiday. No one dares to break entry. (No one = 2 to 3 sigma)
Dubai is cheap? How exactly?
The safety issue is overhyped. Only a few places are like that, there are many places in dubai which are quite unsafe
UAE is the safest country I've ever been to, there is no crime there...no one will ever steal your stuff and you can go walking around in any big city there at 2 AM and not have to worry about being robbed or killed.
@@taym2720 I've been to Dubai twice and felt totally safe no matter where I went, which parts of the city do you think are unsafe and why?

For me zero taxes no complications in Dubai is a lot easier than figuring out whether or not you're tax free in KL. I love KL but it's not a simple tax free place. Territorial tax is complicated freezone is simple. Its gonna be a lot cheaper in KL than Dubai but it's still a developing country (it's one of the most developed developing countries that).
Italy is my favorite country in the world but do I wanna be a resident there? Probably not. Tax wise I think Dubai is the best situation for me. 3 months of the year go to Thailand visa free come back to the UAE when the hot season is over.
What country passport do you hold?

Oman is underrated
So boring

It’s a quiet sleepy place but nice little expat community.
Ohh man oman is indeed underated
Hi Andrew, love your videos. Is there a chance you could do a video on the best countries to live when the dollar loses its exclusive world currency status, and the depreciation in the dollar that could cause. Thanks
don't worry, it's not happening any time soon, it's not so easy to create a world currency, it takes decades of building trust and confidence, it takes free trade of that currency, such a currency has to have been tried and tested in good times and bad, it takes many things, and it's not just about trade but also reserves, few countries even dared switch to Euro, let alone the yuan, especially with huge economic challenges China is facing.
Probably too many variables to make a good guess on that one. It would be easy to compile a long list of bad places to live, but a number of places could be the best depending on what happens.
Good question, and timely given that Fitch downgraded US rating from AAA to AA+ on August 1, 2023
Thank you Andrew,
I like Dublin and the Irish Countryside ❤
I stayed in Dubai for three months over Christmas, and I felt safe, and it has a lot going for it, but what I would say, is it's really a whole set of roads with buildings built on it, the most dominating thing about Dubai are the roads, so if you like living in this way, then great.
Thanks!

Not just because ot Tax, but also because of Regulatory over-reach of arbitrary western Governments that make silly laws on the slightest whim.

I think you've missed a few of the MANY reasons why Dubai is the best place to live. Effectively, zero crime. In any of the areas that you would spend time in, the crime rate is zero. Second, it's one of the most family friendly places on earth and everything is kid friend,. Third, you won't even believe how little bureaucracy they have there until you experience it. I can't tell you how many times I wanted to do "something" and had to ask them before leaving, is that it? Really? No other desk to go to? No other papers to file? They say, nope, that's it. Lastly, while the other places you mentioned do have entrepreneurs and social networks if you seek them out, Dubai is just on another level. There's a dozen reasons why Dubai is quickly moving towards being the best city on earth.
I mean it’s definitely not though that’s the thing, I mean you have numerous problems, to name a few: Muslim country (can bring some unnecessary friction for business), climate (50 degrees throughout sunmer.

I’ve been to all of those cities and Dubai is by far better than all of them. But it’s hard to make friends, it gets lonely. You’ve got to spend at least $100 every time you go out and you have to drive 20-30 mins to get anywhere. Most people stay indoors, go to malls and nice cafes and that’s pretty much it. Even going to the beach is a tourist thing now.
