    These are at the top of my list . I'm a 69 yr old player that didn't play for 6 yrs ( health , life etc.). Now getting back and finding myself a senior player . I've had Taylor Made SLDR's since '13 , not working for me . Leaning towards these to keep me in the game. Thanks for your vid's , always great . Play on !

      Not trying to necessarily steer you away from Eleven, but just looking at their site clubs are going for ~$115 a piece. The Wilson Launch Pads, Cobra T-Rails, and Cleveland Launcher XL Halos all have a similar form factor and have been out for a few years and so might be available pre-owned.

    I remember about 12 years ago a good player from a rival highschool team started playing “hybrid irons” when they first came out I think the brand was Idea. Kid miraculously started playing really well and everyone hated him and called him a cheater for using them cus they were so damn easy to hit. In reality everyone wanted to try them and were just jealous 😂

    I shared your review of these clubs with a guy I know that is 75. He plays 3-4 times a week. He purchased a version of these and told me that he played better than he had in years and had a better time playing due to the ease of the clubs. I have a feeling a better set like the ones you used would produce even more happiness. Thanks for sharing and making golf more fun for those older players who want to keep playing as long as possible.

    Ok. Back from range. OMG. Great results. Easy to hit as long as you swing a little easier. 5 hybrid was flying 185. 4 hybrid over that. Not sure on the distance but it was a bit more piercing ball flight. I’m 56 and haven’t had my 4 or 5 iron in my bad for a while.

It's nice to know that in a year to few years I'll have an easy to hit option like these. I'm 57 ans still using regular weight x100's. Yesterday was my first outdoor range session of the year and I really had to work at swinging them. Still love their dispersion, but I could use a little help. I'm not quite ready to give them up yet. It is good to know these are out there.

    Great review. I’m 73 but still hit and control current JPX 923 Pro’s decently. Distance is still good although at my age I’ve lost a little distance. The lofts on the 923’s help to gain the distance back compared to previous set of JPX 800 Pro Forged . New 7 iron is 29 loft while older set was 34 degrees. Don’t know if I would ever change to clubs like the Elevens because I can hit irons decent.

    I'm 65. Playing golf since age 12. Today I am a 14 handicap. I have had three back surgeries, left shoulder rebuilt, and more. Several years ago, I built a hybrid set myself with Bang heads. I made the change to senior graphite shafts. If I had more plying time or practice time, I could shave a few strokes off the handicap, but life happens, work, etc. This type of head design has helped me a lot. I can't turn like I once did. Easy clubs to hit solidly almost every time, if I am paying attention. If you do not know your swing speed, you may want to get it verified. Yes, the senior shafts for me, gave me back a nice ball flight and distance. That was a huge game improvement for me. Make the new tech work for you.

  • @josephaponte7901
    @josephaponte7901 Před měsícem +1

    As a former student of your's from your California days I can attest to having a hybrid set when you're a higher handicap player. I purchased a set of KZG hybrids a year ago and it really changed my game. The Eleven hybrids have stronger lofts than the KZG so I bet they go a little further. the only thing I would say is that they sometimes are a bit harder to hit out of the rough but I'm consistently breaking 90 and having more fun then when I was playing Ben Hogan Edge Irons. If you need any help testing those for the average Joe send them my way haha. Great to see hybrids getting a little more attention. Lets make golf more fun!

    I had seen these 3-4 months ago on CZcams. UK made & 1) hybrid heads have lower center of mass, & loft ball better with slow head speed. 2) rounded sole gets thru poor/heavy lies better than irons. 3) shafts a bit longer may also help carry distance. 4)Sustaining a golf habit, rather than quitting & junking 20 year old clubs is worth your money! 5) Graphite shafts are for certain!

    I had the Cobra hybrid irons. My experience--Very high, very straight, but also very short. I always had distance control issues with them with half shots as well.
    But huge bonus--they are fantastic chip and run clubs around the greens.
    Bottom line, i went back to some forgiving Pings that I have used for 40 years. I probably could have gained consistency with them over time, but it would have taken time and i just decided to practice more. 😂

    Hi Matt. Great reviews on the equipment 👍👍. I'm just curious to know why the good players don't like to use them since they're easier to hit and easier to score with. At the end of the round, the player with the best score wins the trophy or the bets with the guys you play with. Golf doesn't care what clubs one uses and I hear lots of golfers, myself included, always searching for the clubs that will help improve our game to shoot lower scores. Wouldn't this be it? Plus, I thought some ladies are using them on LPGA tour and the men on Champions tour, correct? I was thinking if a PGA tour player can use to lower his score by 1 or 2 strokes per round, that would mean a lot more cuts made and more cash in their bank, wouldn't it? Just curious to know also if you play a round or two per week with these clubs, would you see your scores improve or not. Thanks for sharing your reviews!

    • @joewiley6927
      @joewiley6927 Před měsícem +2

      Consistency is why. Elite players do not want easier, they want repeatability. These types of clubs are much more forgiving on less than ideal contact, but with all that forgiveness comes at a cost of not being as exacting in terms of launch angle, spin, and feel.

    • @khamkenchanh2735
      @khamkenchanh2735 Před měsícem

      @@joewiley6927 Thanks so much for your inputs, Joe. I just thought if these clubs are so much easier for amateurs to hit, why the tour pros don't use them by fitting to their specs, especially, they know how to hit their shots easier than us amateurs. I'm sure if one of them starts winning the tournaments with these clubs, some will probably try them, who knows. Just like the big broom putters 😁. Thanks again for sharing your thoughts.

      @joewiley6927 Před měsícem +2

      @@khamkenchanh2735 it would be like a professional bike racer leaving training wheels on their bike. Yes, they make it easier to ride, but if one is proficient at that, then taking them off will offer a professional a lot more freedom to use the bike as a tool for racing. Similarly with irons, and especially as you get toward wedges, the large sole of these hybrids in effect act as training wheels, limiting what can be done with the club in hand.
      Edit: pretty pleased with this analogy!

    My 3-P arrived a few days ahead of schedule and I put them in play immediately. I am a huge hybrid fan and these appear to be a great match for my game. I liked the shaft instantly and everything felt solid with the exception of one awful swing. I was able to negotiate a 4h punch from under a tree from 85 yards and a knock down PW. I don’t see the total transition being that difficult, even though admittedly I am of a tempo swing mindset. I see me playing 3 wedges in combination with this set….from a PW, 50 Gap and 55 SW. I highly recommend for all SR golfers with slower swing speeds.

    I have gone back and forth taking the 5 iron out of my bag in favor of a hybrid, however I always seem to come back to the 5 iron as I really need it to hit lower punch shots to get out of trouble. My 6 iron just goes a bit too high even when I put it back in my stance and I haven’t been able to consistently hit a low punch shot with a hybrid. Why dismiss these kind of clubs as better for high hcpers and not for scratch and pros? Been using hybrids for about a year now and to me is like if pros are not taking advantage of technology then why play golf? What's the point of not using them if they can be also used to shape the ball any way you want? Why not dumping old tech like the old Tom Morris clubs, I mean, the blades and even the muscle backs?
    These hybs fly higher and straighter by design, but they can be used for all kind of shots like high, mid, low trajectory and stingers with easy. Fades, draws and intentional hooks and slices can be done no problem. From the sand, the rough, tight lies, hard pan, dirt and pine straw are a beauty to hit. Why not adopt them and make a hard game easier?
    I don't know no professional golfer that wants to get the prize money by winning easier than the rest. If they like to suffer, so be it, but there's no justification as there's only a few pros on tour that are considered ball strikers anyways.
    I don't know, but if they come up with a tool to drive a nail better than with a claw hammer I'll take it!
    Yes, I understand the point hybrids are beneficial for newbies and high hcpers so they can get motivated and such to not quit the game before an encouraging experience, but if pro golfers are already using one or two hybrids in their bag in tournament play, why not to kill the ego and go all for it thru the whole bag. I mean, what would be the "shame" if they already know how to work the ball anyway they need anyways?
    I changed to hybs and added a whole set cavity backs wedges and I'm happily divorced from blades in my current life as a very low hcper. And just recently learn a of a pro saying he used to be dumb for not using cavity back irons! I don't know what kind of wedges he's using, but I also heard he's very comfortable with his game today and regrets not to have given them clubs a try before.
    Oh well, in the end everybody's different, that a fact of life, and I'm not here to feel having convinced the whole world with a little argument about my ways and then go back to sleep with a big-O-smile on my face. That ain't the case. I just believe I made the game a wee-bit easier for me than IT'S NOT, so found no reason to not have hybried-up and enjoy some real new tech fun! Cheers!

      I've seen a review of WILSON LAUNCH PAD TWO , have to say the consistency and workable nature of the ELEVEN clubs looked a lot better. Same way a Scotty might have the edge over an Anser.
      Always test before purchase.

      Plus, the ELEVEN's look WAY more classy. ( Sorry Mr Wilson. I actually use Wilson woods, Srixon irons and Mizuno wedge set, so I'm not biased towards any maker. Just perfeformance).
      WILSON D100 SUPER LIGHT DRIVER, +1 inch length, 5gram lead tape front heel. Gives a superb medium to high flight with slight draw and more distance than anything else I have hit, ,EVER.)

      These are hybrids. The wilsons, clevelands etc are hybrid irons. The irons have a flat face (no roll and bulge) slightly shorter shafts and less real estate at the back.
      I play 26 and 30° ping g410 hybrids and then 8 9 pw in launchpad 2s and then 2 chunky cb wedges. I'm not nick faldo by any stretch but I can break 90.

    Be great if top brand companies (I.e, Titleiest, Callaway, Taylormade, etc.) would also consider making this type of set for older people. Having a top name brand in your bag make a difference and helps in the confidence of using them. It’s like having a great set of clubs but not a brand name but they work for you, most people would not care what other think, but in reality they do. Having that top name brand always makes people feel better, otherwise why upgrade if your game is fine?

      A lot of the big brand companies are producing theor standard hybrids in up to 34° loft now which is 7/8 iron equivalents. The downside is they charge £250 plus each where as an 11 hy rid is 1/3rd of that.

    I have a set of inexpensive hybrids which I got when struggling in the 100 to 150yard range. If you want to enjoy your golf I’d recommend them but you do get a lot of comments from the “traditionalists”.
