No way blueprint 2 is his worse album when kingdom come and Magna Carta exists. Blueprint 2 has some great production and some overlooked records.
stopped watching after that
Absolutely 😮
I even like Fcuk All Nite....lol
I agree but I also didn’t mind Magna carter
Agreed
BP2 had the most creative flows of his career. Definitely did not deserve to be last.
Da Young Chris flow
They were the most creative cuz he got them while making the album around the Philly men
BP2 had so much filler on it (Excuse Me Miss 🤮) but also had some of his best tracks, definitely wouldn’t put it behind Kingdom Come or BP3 though.
Blueprint 2 is just fine. Definitely not his worst
Im sorry i cant put the black Album over The Blueprint
Ikr...🤦🏾♂️🤦🏾♂️🤦🏾♂️
Ofcourse not
I can
I can, easily
NY State of mind was not sampled in dead presidents, it was The world is yours..
Q Tip’s remix at that
Was it q tips remix???
Cashmere Thoughts is incredible. That first verse is “talking your shit” on steroids.
Facts, I always thought that song was underrated
You are tripping on Can I get a.. or Jigga what, Jigga who? Still slaps
Nah
‘You, Me, Him, Her’ was a miss?! No way bro. That was straight 🔥!
They’re tripping.. hate lists that try and be different just for clicks
Im glad someone noticed, that was a banger! Still bump it to this day. Bleek went off on that mf
Bruh I was floored when he said that shit
RIGHT!!?
i'm about to shut the video off after hearing that... you me him and her still bangs to this day
Bro missed posse cut “you, me,him and her”?????? What???!?! how is that song a miss? And how do you not mention streets is talking? Has one of the best beanie verses on it
Albums SHOULD sound dated. When you listen to a great album it should take you back to that time period and era. There’s nothing wrong with that. When I listen to Illmatic, I feel like I’m in 1994, not 2023.
Everyone was great on Reservoir Dogs! Plus the name of the song implies you need a full cast!
That take discredited this whole video.
Yeah! That song was 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
CLASSIC SONG
1. Blueprint (All time great)
2. Black album (Best hits)
3. Reasonable doubt (Mafioso era classic)
4. Vol 2 (Most commercial)
5. Blueprint 3 (Second most commercial)
6. Dynasty (Love jay and beans on any record)
7. 444 (Good way to go out)
8. Blueprint 2 (Underrated but disappointed, meet the parents is one of my favorite jay tracks)
9. American gangster (Better than previous effort)
10. Vol 3 (Identity crisis not sure if it wanted to be Street or commercial)
11. Vol 1 (Same feel as volume 3 with less hits)
12. Magna Carta (The promo commercials were better than the actual album)
13. Kingdom come (Made you feel like he should’ve stayed retired)
😂😂 kingdom come was hard as shit to me. I bought that album when I was in job corps. It was 444 before 444 ahead of it’s time
This list worse than dude on the video
😂😂😂 Kingdom is so true
@@Ayyeeeooo bruh it’s his list. You can’t negatively attack it.
Blueprints ain’t better than reasonable doubt
Man your ranking was fun and you had some great points BUT his rapping skills on The Dynasty was immaculate, it's too low. and You Me Him Her is a straight banger
Reasonable Doubt in at 4? Wow. Haha I love this channel my list is different I’d put Vol 2 at last. Hov my favorite artist so even his worse album is always on my playlist. Salute to y’all for this great episode
You, Me, Him and Her will always be 🔥. Y'all trippin' again!
Facts
Facts!!!
I was about to come in here and same thing. That’s the best track on the album
Exactly I don’t know what he’s talking about You,Me, Him and Her is a classic and he didn’t mention NYMP from Vol. 3
Great ranking for one of the greats!
As for my favorite Jay-Z Album, Reasonable Doubt got me into his music, and the tracks i always go back to are just timeless given the year this album came out: Brooklyn's Finest, Regrets, Can't Knock the Hustle, Politics as Usual, and Dead Presidents 1 and 2 even though 1 wasn’t on the album
I’ve been waiting on this video for so long yeahhhh 👏🏾👏🏾🔥
Me too
1. Blueprint
2. Reasonable Doubt
3. American Gangster
4. The Black Album
5. 4:44
6. The Dynasty
7. Hardknock Life
8. The Blueprint 3
9. Life and Times of S. Carter
10. Magna Carter
11. The Bluprint 2
12 In My Lifetime Vol 1
13. Kingdom Come
I honestly like every Jay album but if I had to rank em here it is. Thanks for another banging list
I’d switch. Dynasty with vol.1
Your list is the closest to mine. I'd swap a few one spot up and down, but this is pretty much it
He just said “You Me Him and Her “ is a miss?😂😂 that song is crazy
You sir have earned my sub. Thank you for this content, keep going man!
I think I like Kingdom Come more than others. By no means is it his best but Dig a Hole and Beach Chair are two tracks I still listen to. Same for Blueprint 2, I love the track with Lenny Kravitz and Meet the Parents is one of my all time favorite Jay-Z tracks. I love Black Album and its impact can't be disputed (Grey Album kickstarting Danger Mouse to a mainstream audience) and while I'm glad he didn't stay retired, he mentions retirement too many times for me to rank it as high as others.
Me personally, Blueprint is my favorite album. It feels like a combo of everything he excels at and 444 is number two because I feel we got a side of Jay-Z we rarely saw.
Beach chair is his most underrated song
The highlights of the álbum are the features and producers: Just Blaze, Dr. Dre, K west, Neptunes, Chris Martin. You can't faill with a lineup like this. Jay-Z performance may be the reason people review the álbum poorly (mostly cus Is a comeback álbum and thats coming with hights expectations).
exactly. Jayz doesnt have an album in his catalogue as bad as Nastradamus or Revival. Kingdomcome was 5-6/10 at best, but still not a horrible album. Lost One is super underrated and that song alone is better than anything on Nastradamus.
Some How Some Way was produced by Just Blaze. Not Kanye.
True.....easy mix up. Back then it was kinda hard to figure them out since their production was similar
@Fleezy81 no there wasn't. Both styles was very different
Back Just was stealing Ye sound
@@rubski-ds9yc Facts. Just soulful style is a rip from early Kanye. Blaze only used that style because he knew that’s what Jay wanted for Blueprint. If you need an example of Just Blaze style just go to the Dynasty Intro, PSA, or You Don’t know. Just had a style that was more fitting for stadiums with grand production. Kanye was the soulful/sample heavy one during the Roc’s prime
@@TheRealLeonardWashingtonGo back another year and listen to Street Shit by Busta Rhymes
Dope list man. I’m glad someone is being honest because some people be bias when it comes to Jay. To me Jay has 4. Classics: BluePrint, The Black Album, Reasonable Doubt, and American Gangster to me.
Keep Up The Great Work
Venus vs mars was DOPE
Been waiting for this one!!
1. Reasonable Doubt
2. The Blueprint
3. The Black Album
4. Vol 2
5. Vol 1
6. American Gangster
7. 444
8. Blueprint 3
9. The Dynasty
10. Vol 3
11. MCHG
12. Blueprint 2
13. Kingdom Come
Nailed it
NAILED IT...... YOURE AWESOME
Had he made it one disc and cut out the introductions, some of the fillers, it would be right there next to blueprint.
Reasonable doubt is overrated now in days, when it dropped he only sold 40 something thousand copies but now everyone like it for some reason
@@gregdagreat8698 doesn't matter, it is his defining work, nothing much has really touched it. The sound may have worn, the style may be dated. But that is Jay Z in his purest form
I've been waiting for this all my life.
I’m here to show kingdom come some love. Prelude slaps, lost one’s second verse might be one of jay’s coldest verses, do you wanna ride is great, and beach chair imo is his best last song in his discography.
It took a long time for me to appreciate Kingdom Come. It's a mf banger he was so mysteriously ill on that one. Better than Vol. 1, 3, MCHG, BP2, and 444
Agreed
I’ve been waiting for this one
Wow I can’t believe you shit on watcher 2. That song was a banger
Man i wonder why volume 3 gets so much hate? To me it’s a top 5 the swag he got on that whole album was crazy it got some bangers
Been waiting for this one....
Vol 2. was his first #1, not Vol. 3. Reasonable Doubt at #4 is just insane
That was EASILY the most glaring ranking. Reasonable Doubt at #4 with 444 ranked higher than it is a very hot take. Ain’t no way anybody about to convince me that Jay had a better mic performance on that overrated 444 album than Reasonable Doubt no time soon. And the production ain’t better neither lol
@@TheRealLeonardWashingtonthat list was flippity-flop lmao. I want my sub or "like" back that helped them get 10K because of this list 😅.
@@franklin8618 naw it ain’t that deep 🤣. Still rock with the channel and I even liked the video. I just don’t agree with the list lol
Only people who think Reasonable Doubt should be number 1 is people under 30 who wants to prove to the OGs that they’re real Hip Hop heads or old heads who can’t let go of the past. But if we’re having an honest conversation Black Album and The Blueprint is better then this album. 4:44 is debatable
@jwood8769 do you say the same thing about people who got Illmatic as Nas #1?
Great rankings CJ! Imo one of your most accurate list. Jay is #4 on my GOAT list so I know some Jay. For today, here is my rankings from favorite to least favorite:
1. The Blueprint
2. The Black Album
3. 4:44
4. Vol 1
5. Blueprint 3

VERY 😂 HAHAHAHA. That's when I was about to hit the stop button and then saw the BP3 ranked over it.
About a year ago I went back and listened to it…at first I had it ranking ahead of Vol 1 and Dynasty but after listening to it again it was good not great
30:17 yeah and even Eminem said he didn’t really like that beat. He said just hearing the beat by itself isn’t great, But Jay putting those lyrics made it a good song.
Can’t wait to see what’s next
Blueprint 2 is slept on!
Yessssssssss, I suggested this and it finally happened!!🥺🥺🥺
You wilding my Gee !!!
Hov’s first tangible talk of being a billionaire was his “A Billi” freestyle on Wayne’s A Milli in 08
Finally you did it ❤
I cant stand 4:44 slander. That album is INCREDIBLE. Thanks for acknowledging that!

Vol. 3 way too high and American Gangster way too low might be the only things I really disagree with when it comes to this one. Other than that this actually ain’t bad
Great stuff. Blueprint 3 over kingdom come tho. Tbh even his worst albums are pretty decent

Dynasty BP1&2 Black and American Gangster honourable mention Reasonable Doubt
RD is a classic and for sure his most important album. That one is forever
I think his 1st album was an album when he wasn't that popular so many fans who started listening to him later had to go back to listen.
A solid album though. Probably one of his best from a lyrical standpoint. Hard to believe he was slept on around that time.
Thank you for loving Bp3 I love that record
Vol 2 number 8 ? Wow 😂 y’all need to hire me
The black album was always my fav jay album but I agree it is tough to choose which should go #1 that or blueprint both were incredible albums.
22:04 thank god reasonable doubt isnt #1. Instant like.
This is such an incredible ranking, so glad you guys appreciate albums like American Gangster and dont just automatically put Kingdom Come at the bottom. Same with Vol. 2, its a straight up classic but it aint Top 5 Hov imo!
KC over MC AND BP2 is beyond NUTS. Dope episode!
One of the ones we been waiting on! Thanks for quality content as always.
Also what made 4:44 so dope was that around this time Kanye was going on stage talking crazy about Jay. So what Hov do? Makes a whole about with Kanye’s OG No I.D. 🔥🔥🔥🔥
That ain’t make that album dope. If anything it just showed how petty Jay is 🤣

Damn this is almost exactly the same as my list! The only difference is I’d but Hard Knock Life 2 further down.
Dynasty should be higher 🤷🏽♂️
I think blueprint 2 is better than American gangster to me
@@kdh2jones203 not mad at it. I think that album is hella underrated and people are overly critical of it because it’s a double album and it came after blueprint 1

Thanks for the list. I’m a big Jay fan and ranking his albums in the top five is tough.
Can you do 3-6 mafia from worst to first? Can you do a hypnotized camp posse worst to first?
Dig a hole back on streaming... Thank you!
He rereleased Reasonable Doubt in ‘98. That’s why there’s a Dead President II
The production on American gangster was smooth
I personally put mchg at #6 behind American Gangster. It's a good album if you skip the first 4 tracks. The other albums behind it don't even come close in production either but that's just my opinion. I also think 4:44 is better than BP1. Eitherway, you guys are always nearly spot on with these ranking videos.
Don’t know about this list. BP2 is way better then KIngdom Come and Magna Carta. Those 2 are clearly career worsts. 4:44 ranked too high especially over Reasonable Doubt?? I’ll take “flossy hustler” prime Jay over “emotional grown up” Jay all day everyday. Also Vol 3 should be higher then BP3. Just my take.
I think the reason I love that Nas beef s that it produced my favourite albums from both of their catalogues
1.Blueprint

3.Reasonable Doubt

28:47 Song Cry aside, Kanye owned Just Blaze on the Blueprint. Ye’s production on the “Never Change” song is awesome.
Owned? You buggin bruh. You don’t know is the biggest banger on the whole album. Just killed Lyrical Exercise and Girls Girls Girls too. Yea owned is a stretch bruh. They both were neck and neck on the production
Very hard statement as Just did "You don't know" which was kind of what I think of when I think of Blueprint.
@@jsmacks11 Exactly. Song Cry too. Dude definitely buggin. Any song that’s produced by Kanye on the blueprint can be countered by Blaze’s production on the blueprint
@@TheRealLeonardWashington Takeover, Izzo, Heart of the City, Never change & Girls x3 part 2. It’s a hard one!
@@jtr5336 Just Blaze did Girls Girls Girls Pt2. Heart of the city and never change are legit the only 2 Kanye songs I go to on Blueprint. I don’t know man outside of Never Change and Heart of the city, everything else I return to on Blueprint was produced by Just. Lyrical Exercise is super underrated
There's way too many Jay-Z songs that were supposed to feature someone but didn't and beats from Jay-Z's songs that were meant for someone else so I'm just gonna say a few. Otherwise there would be like 30 different comments
Ain't No Nigga
DJ Clark Kent said “Her name was Black Widow. That’s who would have been on Ain’t No Nigga if I didn’t say, ‘Get my cousin Fox.’”
Money, Cash, Hoes
The beat was originally for Busta Rhymes. In the June 2000 issue of Vibe magazine, Swizz Beatz said "That beat was originally for Busta Rhymes. I played it for him and he was like, 'I'm crazy, but I’m not that crazy!' [Other rappers] were feeling it too, but no one knew what to do with it. Then I played the track for Jay-Z and he was really open. Jay wanted something different on his comeback, and he was ready to take a risk. It was a good risk."
Do It Again [Put Ya hands Up]
Kyambo “Hip Hop” Joshua said Rockwilder gave him the beat and it was offered to others such as Beanie Sigel & Memphis Bleek but they didn't want it and Jay-Z took it after and then Beanie Sigel got on it
This Can't Be Life
Ghostface Killah was supposed to feature on it but due to miscommunication, Lenny S didn’t get in touch with him before the deadline to turn the album in
Jigga That Nigga
In September 2009, Tone from Trackmasters said “Jay doesn’t even know it was [originally] for N.O.R.E. [Laughs] N.O.R.E. doesn’t even know it was for N.O.R.E. That’s funny. It was actually the same joint, but with the word “N.O.R.E.” Instead of “Jigga,” it was “N.O.R.E.”
In September 2012, Tone said to Complex “Jigga My Nigga wasn’t done for Jay. It was done for, MC Lyte. When we finished it, I thought it was more for Jay.”
In a June 2020 episode of Drink Champs with Fat Joe, N.O.R.E. said the Trackmasters made the beat for him and the hook originally said Norey instead of Jigga but he turned it down because he thought guys in the hood were gonna laugh at him czcams.com/video/tvkVQjulHPo/video.html
Heart Of The City (Ain't No Love)
In the January 2004 issue of Vibe magazine, Kanye West said “The beat CD I gave Jay for The Blueprint had Never Change; (State Property’s) Got Nowhere, which would’ve had Sade singing on it; the joint that is now Alicia Key’s You Don’t Know My Name and Heart Of The City,” which R. Kelly initially sang on.” also Kanye West says in the outro of his song Last Call that he wanted to give the beat of this song to DMX
'03 Bonnie And Clyde
After Toni Braxton accused Jay-Z of biting her idea to sample 2Pac's song Me And My Girlfriend after Jay-Z's label president heard an early version of Toni Braxton’s cover of it, which is her song Me & My Boyfriend, Jay-Z denied hearing Toni Braxton's song and said the influence Toni Braxton's song had on his was ”zero” Jay-Z told MTV ”If I heard Toni Braxton’s record, my thing is, I would want to be on it with her, I wouldn’t want to take it from her. I don’t even think like that. My first thought would be, ‘Maybe I could call her up, maybe I could get on that record.’ The most obvious is it’s neither one of our records. It’s not like you made an original idea. She’s not in hip-hop, but it happens in hip-hop often. We go to sample the same thing and my record came out first. I’m sorry. What can I do?”
I Made It
The beat was given to Dr. Dre first. The song's producer DJ Khalil said “I sent it to over to Dre and Dre loved it. He was like, 'I'm keeping this. This is going on Detox.' At the same time, Jay-Z was writing records for him for [Kingdom Come], so Dre sent over a bunch of beats. When Jay-Z heard that beat, he called Dre immediately and was like, 'Yo I need this for my album. I'm working on Kingdom Come right now and I need this.' Dre didn't wanna give it up at first, but then he finally did. I remember Dre calling me and saying, 'Congratulations, you made Jay-Z's album. He called me and he just really wanted this beat.’ At first Dre didn't want to let it go, but Jay wanted it real bad, and I think he had already laid the song. [Laughs.] Jay didn't even wait and they were done with the album. That was probably the last song [he recorded for Kingdom Come]"
Blue Magic
Pharrell gave Yung Joc the beat and cadence for the song but Yung Joc told Pharrell it wasn't for him and then P. Diddy & Jay-Z came to the studio and after hearing the beat Jay-Z said "Yo, Joc if you don't use this for your record, I promise you I'ma make that my single" and Yung Joc told Jay-Z "You could have that shit"
A Star Is Born
The World Famous Tony Williams said "Kid Cudi initially did that hook and I just did harmonies and a supporting vocal for the melody. When Blueprint 3 came out, I looked at the track list and saw A Star Is Born featuring J. Cole. But I had no idea who J. Cole was, and when I listened to the song I heard a hook that I’d never heard before, because the last time I heard it, Cudi was singing the lead vocals and my voice was only supporting him. For two weeks, I listened to the record and thought, “Wow, this J. Cole is really killing this hook.” But it’s actually me! What ended up happening was that they took Cudi totally out of the mix and pushed my vocals up to make it the lead.”
Some Where In America
Hit-Boy said "Travis Scott had the beat, he had asked me could he use the beat for his album, he wanted to work on it, and then he told me that he went in the studio with Hov and as soon as he opened his laptop, that beat started playing, and Hov was like, 'What is that? I need that!'"
Heaven
Ghostface Killah & Raekwon were supposed to be featured on it

3:02 Funnily enough Jay-Z, Scarface & Beanie Sigel were thinking about doing an album together. While talking to Complex in 2011 about how Jay-Z's song Some How Some Way was made. Just Blaze said “At the time they had just done This Can't Be Life. I want to say they did Guess Who's Back right after we did this one. They were talking about doing an album together, the three of them. That would've been crazy.”

The Blueprint 2.1 could have used some editing - stepping back and making it one good solid album. Because it lacked a steady story

I love that reasonable doubt isnt first!!! Awesome
I’m two albums in and already this list is wilding Edit:
I’m glad they finished strong though. I’m so happy to finally see someone that doesn’t see Reasonable Doubt as number. Only people who put that album as number one is people under 30 who wants to prove to others they’re “ Real Hip Hop heads “ or Old heads that never moved on from the 90’s. Reasonable Doubt is great and it’s a classic. But it’s not better then The Black Album, or The Blueprint. And I’m one of those people that goes back and forth with those two albums.
Black Album is his bear album. Blueprint is overrated. Yea I said it. He's saved by all star production. American Gansgter is better if we're being 100
@@anthonyanderson9303 if you like it more then Blueprint I won’t argue with you. But if you going off being saved by production Nas Illmatic had an all star cast of producers as well
@jwood8769 blueprint doesn't hold a candle to illmatic lyrically tho. A couple joints on blueprint were straight trash let's be honest
@@anthonyanderson9303 I ain’t disagreeing but 12 out of 15 isn’t bad
