  • There a four foundational patterns for women’s jackets. In this video we are draping a jacket with Viennese seams. Modern day women’s jackets aim at incorporating the feel of men’s fashion and I am hoping that you can see a good example of that in this silhouette. Small details in the design of the collar can make or break the trendiness of a jacket. By collecting lots of information and repeatedly practicing your draping, you can create a beautiful collar in a short amount of time.

      Thank you for watching the video. Draping is not just a technique for pattern making. The draping of the collar shows that it is also a good technique for design decisions. I will continue to upload videos of many collars so please watch them.

      The advantage of draping is that you can find beautiful shapes in a short time. I wonder if digital pattern making can really save time.

    Absolutely beautiful! Watching you drape is such a pleasure. You make it look so effortless. Thank you for sharing this knowledge. I wish I had learned this in fashion school. I went to a very expensive school in Italy in the early nineties. They didn’t teach draping unfortunately. Now I’m too old and wish I had known this technique earlier in my career ☹️

      No school is perfect with everything. Italy has a wonderful history of flat pattern making, and there is also a manual technique that makes full use of the characteristics of the material. I envy you who learned in Italy in the wonderful 90's.

      Thank you for your comment. I was skeptical of my video talk. But I thought it was a necessary decision to make my work more convincing. I plan to upload a video of sleeves only at a later date.

    Great instructional video. What weight of muslin do you use by the way?

    • @kondosdrapinglibrary9070
      @kondosdrapinglibrary9070  Před 4 měsíci +1

      The raw cotton I use for draping weighs approximately 200g per metre. The width of the cloth is 160 cm. For the blouse I use 180 g of fabric per metre.
