You did a good job of covering the topic in this video! One question I always had when searching this topic was "where to eat with picky kids" ... like kids who don't like to try particularly new things or seafood. We found Denny's and Saizeriya particularly helpful in this case, as well as IPPUDO and some random shops that had new foods or takes on familiar foods that were not too "extreme" for the little ones.

Good suggestions. I've never tried thouse but good to know. Matsuya and Yoshinoya are chains that offer more approachable food. The 7-11s and Family Marts have some simple foods too. Although each person will have their own stance on what is "new" food.

Thanks for this! Traveling with kids in Japan is a very good topic, there's not enough info out there on the internet.

Glad it was helpful and I agree, it's a popular destination but not a lot of kids-specific info out there.

Great suggestions on food places. Thanks for the tip on staying somewhere central - we will do that when we go. Also liked the detail you provided on the subway line. Can't wait to take my family to Osaka.

Very helpful video, thank you! I'm taking my 5 year old there in June and it's good to see what's suitable for kids. I've been there twice myself, but without kids. My son will enjoy Kid's Plaza and Nara for sure. I was unsure about Universal Studios, but I guess it is better to go when they're older. Our family travel style is definitely more relaxed and loosely-planned. We will be staying near Namba Station so if the little one needs to rest and recharge we can travel back easily.

Thanks for the feedback and I’m so excited for you and your family to visit Osaka together. Kids Plaza is definitely a must do, don’t forget to bring some snacks! We also wanted to check out the Team Labs exhibit, the one in Tokyo was awesome, but the Osaka one is outdoors and best seen at night time, which is the best with young kids. Enjoy!

The thing I feel like many of these "traveling to Japan with a toddler" videos is missing is what to do when things go wrong. My wife and I have traveled to Japan countless times and the last time we went, we took our 1.5 year old daughter. We are seasoned travelers and felt like we could handle traveling with our baby. We took a trip to Korea when she was 6 months old and that was easy. From the get go on the plane we struggled. We matched it to her sleeping schedule, we had all the toys, snacks, we got the seats that would be away from others on a plan that was very empty. She would not sleep and was driving us crazy bc neither of us can sleep, eating on the plane was next to impossible bc our daughter was not in a child seat. Our luggage got lost and we had to scramble to buy her clothes bc it was cold. She threw up on the only clothes I had and the carrying strap on the train ride. Childrens' clothing are all generalized in one area so we had to made a day of it. Our hotel has a cleaning service but said they could not wash our carrying strap bc of all the plastic. I found a laundry mat at 1a.m. and sat there until everything got washed. Many of the easy random walk in restaurants we normally would go to did not offer high chairs. We had to settle for family restaurants where we found all the families with children. We were also not preparing for the rain, specifcally the sideways rain. We did experience a whole other side of Japan bc of this. People literally handed us their umbrella when they saw us struggling. We were no newbees in Japan but we didnt expect to struggle as much as we did. In the end we figure it all out and I would say the plane ride back, we had the proper equipment for our daughter.

Great insight, thanks for sharing. Things definitely don't go according to plan all the time. We also had our luggage lost for 24 hours. The ANA staff were super helpful and our luggage arrived at our hotel the following day. We used it as an excuse to go shopping :)

Hello! Not sure if you are still replying to comments on an older video. You showed footage of TsuruTonTan Udon. Which branch is the one where you could eat on the floor ? I searched Osaka branches and couldn't find it.

Did you have to get an IC card if your toddler is 4yo? When do you have to pay for train/bus for the 4yo? Do they still get seats even if they don't pay? How about in Shinkansens? Thank you for your input.
