Great to see your process Abi 👏 you could even go one step further and talk your client through the proposal over a call and the same for presenting the moodboards and final concepts. You get a good gauge on their reactions as a result and it's more time to create a more personal connection with them. It's been one thing I learnt from Michael Janda that has helped in my process to help guide a client through the process instead of throwing a PDF over the fence to see what they think... also eliminates a bit of anxiety/imposter syndrome of waiting to hear back from them too 😄
Agreed with this, video calls are way better, or even a LOOM recording of you talking through the presentation.
Thank you 😊 Completely understand this, I can see how being there to explain your design decisions etc can help create fewer revisions. I've actually take a course from Michael Janda, it's helped develop the systems and organisation side of my business massively. The main reason I stay away from having too many calls is because I tend to take on several projects per month, so it's just to save me some time 😅

Hi abi, just followed your channel. Thanks for your content sharing! Hi sha, can I ask a question? I found the salary made for most of the designers is not quite high compares some other jobs. I can’t figure out it because I think the whole create stuff is the most original and unique work which cannot be copied. But why the salary for most related designer work is not highly paid. I just can’t figure it out.
Glad to hear it, thank you 😊 salary all depends on location, I think it can be underpaid as non-creatives tend to overlook to importance of branding, but don't let that deter you! I used to work for a Holiday resort, and they certainly didn't understand it, but working for myself has been so much better as I get to work with clients that understand the importance of it!

However I made a transition from print to web design and struggling to get my first clients for web design, what would you suggest? currently in a loop of "I don't a portfolio because I don't have any client work to show" and "not getting any clients because I have no experience to show"
I'd recommend reaching out to small local businesses and offering to redesign their website for free, it will help you build connections in the area, and you can add this work to your portfolio. Or you can find a website of any business they needs redoing, and then redesign it with your own domain, then email them showing what you did and they might buy it from you!

I suggest you all read a book The Win Without Pitch Manifesto. This book is recommended by Chris Do in almost all of his videos when he's talking about dealing with clients.

Hey abi thanks for everything, one question though do you have a term and condition paper? That is written by law? And do you charge for revison? How many revision do you make with a client and do you have a stable timeline for all of your projects? Would be very helpful

So what separates the Discovery Call from the Brand Strategy Call?
Discovery call is to introduce yourself to the cleint, and get to know them (more informal) it helps build a relationship between you and the cleint. Then the strategy one is where you go in-depth on everything business related.

I can see that, but what I would say is some people take information in, in different ways, and by doing a video it allowed me to incorporate more story (making the information more digestible) but I appreciate your input and support, always open to listening to peoples' opinions! 😊

Why would it matter? If anything, my CZcams videos have helped me increase my prices massively because potential clients can see the value I have to offer them (it creates more trust, and social proof) meaning they're willing to invest more

As I grew my audience on social media, i got more clients wanting to work with me, plus as I grew as a designer and became more skilled and build out my process I raised prices
I charge on average between £2500-£5000 per project depending on the deliverables
another thing that helped massively is targeting bigger businesses, When I started it I'd mainly work with local small businesses like restaurants and hairdressers but these type of businesses never have big budgets, but £5000 to a medium sized business that makes £50k revenue a month is not a lot.
Her following boomed this alone would increase your income 😂

Where do you get clients? Seriously? Do you cold-email or do you just have paid ads and hope someone reaches out themselves.
Honestly they all get in touch with me after finding my work on Instagram or CZcams. That's why i always push everyone to start building their online presence, makes getting clients so much easier. I have a enquiry form on my website that people who want to work with me fill in, and they always say they found me on social media.

No one has ever enquired or even asked me anything about using my services, one lady whom I approached she wanted a full branding for $50. Can you perhaps make a video on how your journey went when you started off and how you started getting clients? I don't do paid ads yet. Also bare in mind not everyone is comfortable being infront of the camera. I am an introvert starting a youtube isnt my cup of tea.
@@datsliz It's not just about the platforms you're on, it's all about your strategy and what content you're putting out. But noted on the video! Completely get that a youtube channel isn't for everyone, you need to find what works for you, that could be creating referral schemes with other businesses, a podcast, using linkedIn, theres no right way ☺
