- Hello! :)
Today’s sharing is on the highly requested topic of hand-stripping.
We’ve definitely seen an increased interest in hand-stripping of terrier breeds recently.
Our model is miniature schnauzer, HANNUEL!
She is a grand champion show dog!🌟

Wow, it's fascinating how much dedication goes into a perfect show groom on a dog! Of course I knew on some level that it was a lot of work, but I suppose I never thought about just how much careful thought and precision goes into it. Even for a Schnauzer, it's so much more than just "short over the top, long on the undercarriage". What a gorgeous dog--and a very patient one, at that!
Exactly how my schnauzer looks before and after ! Great job 👏 👏👏👏👏⭐️🙌🏻
Awesome Video! Thank you! It is good seeing more terrier with their natural coats now that continuously rolling a coat is so easy for the dog to tolerate.
Gorgeous! How long did it take? And can you do a Wire fox terrier?
Great job .
Looks great! How do you tie the beard in a band to make it look so cute? Mine always looks clumsy 😅
Thank you! I usually use the comb to part the beard in the middle into two sections, comb thru and secure the entire top section with smooth elastic then loosen the grip a little so it’s comfortable for them. Usually we start tying since puppy so they are used to the tying otherwise it will be very difficult😄
We tie the fur to keep the beard clean not really for aesthetic purposes😊 I hope it helps!
How do you decide wich length will the coat be? I have a stripping knife but it only takes out dead hairs and the rest of the coat keeps growing until i have to clip it
Hi! Thank you for your question! We decide the length base on the breed standard and adjust to individual structure of dog🤗
Lovely groom! Do you bath then handstrip or other way around ? I was always taught to do the stripping first then bath on a separate day to avoid any skin irritation from shampoo x
Hi! Thank you! Usually depending on the coat condition I will roll the coat > roughly strip to remove the excess coat > bath + dry > final touches. Unless I am hand plucking then I wouldn't recommend to wet the skin as it may lead to a infection. So far I have not encountered a skin irrtation from shampoo, but I feel using #1 system crip coat helps too!😊
Wonderful job you are doing.. what about Giant Schnauzers are you hand stripping..?
Thank you 🙏🏻😊 yes giant schnauzer can also be hand stripped.
I need to find a groomer in my area that hand strips because the person that was doing my buddy is no longer able to and I don’t want to get him clipped
which brand is your stripping knife? can you share? Thanks.
Hi, I’m using the Artero ones. They have the green, blue & red handle. Different handle colors have different coarseness of the knife. :)
@@DePetsSalon So if i was to get one knife which color would u recommend? thanks
@roundsquash I would recommend the coarse green stripping knife, because its more universal. However, if you want to go quite short/detail work on certain areas, the blue or red one is recommended, depending on the length you are aiming to achieve. The red is the finest, followed by blue, then green.
@@DePetsSalon Green it is!! thanks
Thank you. I thought I recognized the shape and style. I use the blue and red but watching you work with the green- it seems to be able to cut down coat faster and shorter.
What about his beard??? Why did you leave it in rubberbands?Rubbermaid? I hope that that is not suppose to be cute. The beard are what is so distinguishing on Miniature Schnauzers!
Hi Ann, thank you for commenting😊. I didn’t remove the wrapping bands as she is a grooming client, she will salivate and wet her beard if it’s not banded. Yes the beard plays a very important role in a schnauzer’s expression that is why we have to band to prevent breakage and keep in perfect condition. It’s not meant to look cute😅
By the way the bands are not normal rubber bands, we uses Lainee wrapping bands.
I hope I’ve answered your questions~
wish my dog would stay still
table training & treats will help! :)
