- This is one of the tracks from the New Stories album, "Speakin' Out" composed in 1999. I found this shortened version of the song in the Sample Music folder in the My Music folder on my Windows XP Professional SP2 PC. Enjoy!

I remember listen to this song as a kid and just sitting in front of my XP watching the different colors just scatter across the screen. Childhood memories. Kids these days just don't know
I'm with you
Yeah ☺️
true true
my dad bought me a windows xp to play battlefield 2, or the olders versions, i remember finding it, i was enjoying it
We''re living same life
Memories of Windows XP :(
Good times
Testing if the speakers work
Watulio did your speakers work? I think I forgot my Soundblaster drivers.
Farie Indriawan My motherboard's sound card is fried, had to buy a Soundblaster sound card.
I suggest trying the Realtek cards too, they have these crazy Room EQ simulators.
Yeah, had a lot of fun with that shit(especially Karaoke)
“Just got the sound chips working!!”
I remember listening to this song when I was still a kid by the time my dad used to have his desktop and he didn't want anyone to touch his computer. I knew his password so in the night when everyone went to sleep I would sneak in to his office and use his computer just to listen to this song. I used to stay there in his office listening to this same music just thinking about life. I really missed the old day's 😢
The great adventure of childhood! You're right. Old days are gold.
>your dad hoping your not tugging it and leaving splung all over his office area
>Pops looks through the creek of the door and just sees you enjoying microsoft sample music lmao
Awesome lmao
I'm hearing my childhood wandering around in windows xp with no internet all day in 2005
>it's 2006, 10 year old me
>no internet connection
>boring time
>decided to do some weird shit in windows movie maker
>music in literally every vid i made:
_New Stories - Highway Blues.mp3_
Old Windows Movie Maker flashbacks.
OMG YAAAAS MOVIE MAKER FLASHBACKS.
Exactly why I came here lmao it popped up in my head randomly like hmm
Now we’re stuck with stupid ass clip champ and it’s paywalls. We need movie maker back
never knew i could feel so much nostalgia at 16 years old...
This is making me nostalgic!
+Craig Harkins I'm 11 years old and me to I'm getting nostalga
me too
Good heavens - I literally haven't heard this since approximately 2009. I can remember every note like yesterday. Wow, what memories
Glad you rediscovered this song! Me, I still enjoy it. As a matter of fact, I bought the actual New Stories - Speakin' Out CD on Amazon last year as a nostalgic item, as well as to coincide with its 20th anniversary and listen to the full version of this song offline.
This is where my love for smooth Jazz started
I didn't know that much about the song, but exploring Windows XP, from the Control Panel to the files, it was limitless.
Listening to the sample music on Windows XP has been one of my favorite things to do on it since 2002. Have you ever considered purchasing the "New Stories - Speakin' Out" audio CD especially for the full version of this instrumental music yet? I've had it for over two years now.
I swear every WMM video I saw on CZcams back in 2010 had this as the background music.
Because all of them were made with XP’s movie maker version
Back when I first heard this song, I knew nothing about jazz. Coming back here as a jazz fan, it is just the best nostalgia ever.
This song just RANDOMLY popped up in my head, went to search Windows Media Music and now I'm here 😅 Oh the childhood memories 😩❤
Very interesting. Everyone who had Windows XP Professional and Home Edition on their PCs actually had this sample music on them, so I am glad you found it and enjoyed it.
I HAVE BEEN LOOKING FOR THIS SO LONG!!
Me too so glad I found this my soul was crying for this lol
Couldn’t remember the nme
"Your call is important to us, please stay on the line."
I use to listen to this all the time when I was in middle school, which was before 2006. I’m glad I found this
I'm also glad you found this music track!
I was in elementary school when I used to listen to this
This song brings back some of my best memories from when I was a kid. Oh how I missed it ❤
Very nostalgic
I want Windows Xp so bad.
+Ken Star Go to the microsoft website, they're giving it out for free and 100% legit, all updates and everything :D
I'm dual booting my pc right now because of it
Sportix use vmware
You can still purchase a Windows XP PC on Amazon or eBay (even though some of them are sadly incredibly rare nowadays, like the HP Pavilion 710 CTO PC I used to have) and/or create a virtual machine for any version of Windows XP in Microsoft Virtual PC 2004 or 2007, VirtualBox or VMware. You can also still purchase Windows XP operating system products themselves (as boxed products) on Amazon or eBay and also the Plus! add-on packs for Windows XP.
BTW, sorry for the late reply.
i got mine for free from my dad's friend its very nice
You can still get iso images of the os on Google
Man this brings back some fond memories of my elementary days...
...and it's one of the best selections of sample music for the Microsoft Windows operating system series, and it will always be a favorite.
Wow this brings me back. lol
blackdragonx715 Same. Lol
Old but gold times..
Excellent rhyme!
back in 2007 - 2008 this was the background music for every WMM video i made and most of them were just slideshows of fan content of my favorite anime, cartoons and video games at the time
Omggg, I remember childhood ahhh. I specifically remember this one day (don't know why) when I was in my bedroom and I would just sit in front of the computer with this music playing along. Brings me back to the good ol days. :,(
I remember bein' a kid, drawing out stories on Windows Paint to match my favorite sample songs, and creating a mini-slide show while having this playing in the background. 🎵
*sigh* I miss my old PC...
Now I'm buying my own for the first time! 🖥 ⭐
Interesting. Having an imagination while listening to special music can be fun.
Congratulations on deciding to purchase your own PC! It's always cool to make such an investment. Does it have Windows 10 or Windows 11 on it? Just wondering since it sounds exciting.
@@CEO100able Thank you! It's a refurbished Intel PC from Amazon. it also says that it's Windows 10, but I'm sure I'm gonna hafta update it once it comes home. I don't know what update patch Windows is currently on because It's been YEARS since I've owned anything Windows related.
I own a MacBook laptop, but I wanted something bigger and better.
@@B0BBYJ4CK You're very welcome! Sounds interesting. Yeah, Windows operating systems are easier to use than Mac operating systems, so see what happens once your Intel PC arrives.
Things come and go and it's sad to see that 16 years have passed since this song was released
And now another six years have passed
22 years by now
Jezz, so many good memories
internet was better that time
My credit card issuer uses this as the hold music!
Interesting. I wonder if they were actually inspired by the Windows XP operating system to use this instrumental music?
Finally found it after 10 years!
My uncle owned a Dell running Windows XP (I think he still does). Memories.
I also have a Dell Optiplex GX260 with Windows XP Professional SP2 on it. It's a nice computer, but its hard disk drive capacity (20 GB) is pretty small, which is the only downside, but despite that, I really enjoy using it.
BTW, sorry for the late reply.
can u buy it in australia
God, I remember bragging to my friends I used XP, but now everyone is using 8.1 - 10, I miss my old Dell laptop :(
Ahhh...Good old XP...
Thank you for putting this Windows XP sample music playlist together. I was finally able to hear these songs again that I haven't heard in a long time!
You're welcome! I've been listening to this music ever since I started using Windows XP on a very old HP Pavilion PC back in 2002. It's still a nice piece of music.
my teenage in 2007... Oh dear memories
Damn I've finally dound this song ! After like years.
Something told me to come look for this song & i finally found it . this bring back memories when i was a kid 🤣
I used to listen to this and Like humans do while playing backpacker❤so fun!
I remember speeding this really fast and laughing
That sounds hilarious to say the least!
CEO100able Haha true windows media player had such cool themes
@@_________-__________-_______ The Windows XP versions sure did! I have lots of fond memories of using them and playing all the sample songs that came with Windows XP throughout the 2000s decade. I hope Windows 11 will retain the current version of Windows Media Player since it has been a great default software program for playing audio files, video files and DVDs.
I realized I love jazz when I was 8 years old and found this in the music folder
Fabulous! I have the actual audio CD as of late 2019, which contains the full version of this song. Have you ever considered obtaining it for nostalgia yet?
@@CEO100able I didn't know a fuller version existed, do you know if it's on spotify? I just remembered the melody and searched for the CZcams video hahahah
Finally, after years and months of searching, I found it, this sure brings back childhood memories!😄🤩😎👌
Glad you were able to find it and relive it! It's one of the best things about Windows XP.
Windows XP made me look for this song today. 😄
Oh the nostalgia
Oh my God this brings back my childhood 😭😭😭😭
Been looking for this song for years
ohh 13 years old memories
Another piece of nostalgia I remember from Windows XP.
This brings me back...
childhood banger 🔥
I remember listening to this and day dreaming of being a detective in New York in the 50’s 😂 at 7 years old
Perhaps the unique vídeo on youtube without dislikes... Nostalgia... That song and pinball, oh =P
now it'll never have dislikes! lol
@@MixMastaCopyCat indeed 😆😁
Back when computers were fun.
Also back when Microsoft computer operating systems had sample music from other artists available for everyone to listen to.
Oh the days of using my DSi to take "screenshots" of my Webkinz World, and then proceed to make a slideshow showing all of it off, along with my stuffed Webkinz...
Being 8 was really an adventure, 23 nearly 24 now.
That computer is still on Windows XP all these years later.
Interesting. I always liked to have journeys with software programs when I was a kid as well. Pretty cool that several Windows XP PCs still work to this day.
As a child I used to think it was something kind of game and the magical colorful random theme beats are actually playable thing so I desperately tried to control them lol
Sounds like it was fun to experience something new in Windows Media Player 8 at the time.
@@CEO100able definitely! It was nothing like anything to be experienced! After that it was Winxp tour thing which was something I always thought will lead to some games lol 😆 just kids thing!
@@vivekanandan5093 Oh yeah, the Windows XP Tour software sure was fascinating, with plenty of educational information on how Windows XP works and lots of great images.
i remember messing with these files on my emachines t6410 desktop great machine
So many nostalgic memories with Windows XP
Windows XP sample music :)
There was also a classical music piece in the sample music folder on XP
Darude Stories - Highway Sandstorm
*****
Sandstorm... Darude
Summer nights of 2007 Philadelphia
Oh goodness, the memories....
I've always, always thought New Stories were a side-project of Wayne Shorter, but I been close, being both Seales and Shorter collaborative at some Miles Davis operas : )
i love this i used to listen to this when i was little
i still love this
Even tho im the same dud, i still fucking love this song!
What A Beautiful Old Days 😔
This was my gateway drug into the world of Miles and Duke
Reminds me of Windows XP primary school years
Nostalgia right here when I was a little boy
Windows XP - wspomnienia jak się z niego korzystało kurła
Windows XP, how I loved you so...
Windows XP was an interesting computer operating system back in the day, and it was amazing to discover this version of this instrumental jazz music on it during its time. I still enjoy listening to Windows XP's sample music to this day.
Perfect for a film noir movie.
I remember windows xp at home and at school
The memories since childhood, it's some music samples from Windows XP ^_^
this song + spider solitaire >>>
This song makes me sleepy
I finnally found it
Worker:ok ill put you on hold
Person:i remember this song i here it as a kid❤
Classic.. reminds me when i used to use paint and movie maker as a child.
rip windows xp
me as a kid when theres no internet.
In loving memory of Windows 7 2009-2020
And Windows XP
Companies don't care about doing fun and memorable presentations of their computer anymore. People who are nostalgic of XP are nostalgic so many things. The start up and shut down sounds, the installation music, the sample music, the iconic wallpapers... In 10 years or so, kids today will be nostalgic of Windows 10 and what do they have? An extremely boring wallpaper
A friend of mine used to make stop motion videos with this music. :)
R.I.P. Windows XP ;(
Omg I loved this song idk why xD
Memories
Esta canción me recuerda que mi abuela tiene su vieja laptop con Windows XP Si lo recuerdo que buenos recuerdos
I did manage to purchase the full music CD off of eBay because I have downloaded the full version of the song from CZcams and converted to MP3 (along with the lesser known copy protected WMA) format (as much as the M4A format while on Apple iTunes)
I did the same thing on Amazon back in late 2019 to celebrate its 20th anniversary, and it was also purchased as a nostalgic item since I am fond of hearing the short version of Highway Blues on Windows XP PCs.
By the way, sorry for the late reply.
@@CEO100able
Thanks a lot, CEO100Able
I’ve been a fan of Lady Lovely Locks (1987)
I like girls
Ermygerd! It's suddenly the early 2000s again!
I remember fucking around with Quicken with this shit in the background when I was five.
Ahh the good old Windows XP. Sounds like Simcity 3000 🏢🌃💻🎮😀
Lmfaooo i used this in my windows movie maker video of the sample photos that came with the computer 🤣🤣 my OG video editing days
Honestly sounds like something straight out of The Simpsons.
old times gold times
edit: xp still the best he he
the eXPerience was never the same after 7 smh
2018 e eu aqui ouvindo essa maravilha do win xp
This song remind of the hey Arnold and little bill cartoon theme 90s
Interesting. I remember watching Little Bill on Nick Jr. back in the early 2000s, alongside Blue's Clues, Dora the Explorer, and Rugrats. But I never watched Hey Arnold back then.
@@CEO100able hey arnold was tha best cartoon u need to watch it
...
@@jsmooth45 Understanding your opinion on it, I will most likely see it one day just to find out how good it was. Thanks for the suggestion!
@@CEO100able yea check it out watch it its good
I remember listening to this on my schools computer way back lol
goes hard
懐かしすぎる....涙出てきそう
I think I might've heard this in an LGR video or something. I always thought it was from SimCity 3000. It would totally fit the soundtrack.
Wasn't sure I remembered the songs, then I heard this...
It hit me like a physical wave. It wasn't just like "haha I remember that" it was like a freaking cinematic flashback to sitting in front of the computer downstairs.
Claire Nelson I agree 1,000%!
