Dennis Tan asked in parliament (around 1:49:00 of the whole CNA live parliamentary video), and PM Lee said he can only cut ministerial pay. To cut MP pay there must be a motion filed, and there hasnt been one. Hes "only" on LOA. So effectively he's still receiving 8500+16000=24500. There, prob a year worth of salary for half of Singaporeans.
We got to understand this has never happened before and while we hope that it doesn’t we can’t prevent that. So he’s got to set the stage for future “mishaps”. Also am not too sure if paying top dollar really helps in attracting the best talent to office
