    Just want to say thanks for your video. It got me through my install. Only issue with my install was losing one of the clips which landed on top of my skid plate. Getting that clip out took longer than the rest of the install.

    As a tip, the OEM clips on the heat liner have dots on the cap that line up with the parts that need to be pinched.

    What’s up bro! What model 4R do you have? I have an ‘18 TRD Off-Road. I saw the TRD Pro version of the hood scoop cheaper for like $60, but says that it’s not compatible with the TRD Off-Road versions.

    Do you need to pinch the clips when removing the hood insulation or can you just pop them out with a two pronged tool and reuse them ?

    I performed the same install all on OEM parts, including new gaskets on a 2023 off road premium. It went as smoothly as you described. However, I don't really know if there was a water leak prior to the install, but there is solid water leak through the hood scoop after the install. There is nothing wrong with my install: all gaskets are new and in good condition, installed to specs, the scoop is in great condition, all clips are in, all nuts are in, the hood scoop sits seemingly flush, nothing seems odd or uneven. However, pour some water with a water bottle in either of the front-two-most corners, and water seeps in to the heat shield. Is this normal? Everything leads me to believe that this is the way it was before, but its hard to know for sure.

    • @installsandpitfalls
      @installsandpitfalls  Před 2 měsíci +1

      Hi, I haven't had any leaks. Have you checked to make sure all the tabs are snapped down completely? It's the only thing I can think of.

    • @JoeyAnalog
      @JoeyAnalog Před 2 měsíci +1

      Yeah, I’ve checked everything. I’m confident that it’s all installed properly, there was nothing overwhelming or challenging about the job. But the leak isn’t obvious because the heat shield.
      You’d need to pour some, and watch it for about 30 seconds then touch the head shield. I don’t even know if those gaskets are even for water shielding. Because there are 1” gaps at the top between the seals, but also, the mesh itself that clips into the scoop has four clips and is totally not gasketed.

    • @installsandpitfalls
      @installsandpitfalls  Před 2 měsíci +1

      The gaskets seem to be for noise/rattle reduction, not water intrusion. I'll look under my hood this afternoon, I've driven through a lot of heavy rain lately.

    • @installsandpitfalls
      @installsandpitfalls  Před 2 měsíci

      Sorry I took so long to get back, we've been swamped. I don't see any indications of water intrusion. I have power washed and driven through crazy rain since installing it. I'm not sure why you're having an issue. Does it happen when you don't pour water directly into it?
