It fit better with her version of the costume. It represented the "tail" like adriens belt does for him. Although why adriens hair didnt change as mr bug I cant explain.

I think it makes sense they don't know each other- when I fist watch miraculous, I had no idea who Hawk Moth was until they revealed it. The only reason why it's obvious for us is because we see them transform. But in Miracle Queen, Chat Noir had fused his miraculous with the snake, and he had part of Aspik (which was obvious because you could see the resemblance in both Aspik and in the fusion and it should have been obvious for Ladybug because she gave Adrien the Miraculous and saw him transform)
