VloĆŸit
- Äas pĆidĂĄn 4. 08. 2019
- This week we look at the influences behind the introduction of "one of the supreme council" in Planet of the Daleks, and the thefts which happened before production which nearly derailed the whole process.

A Purple Dalek I want one now đ nice to know I'm not the only person who loves these pepperpots maybe even more than their parent series đ
Iâve heard the Dalek Time Strategist is colored purple
@Ciaran Eldrett
It would. I'm sure the audio is available.
I love the fact that there are enthusiastic fans who will take the time to document this minutiae so I may enjoy it
Amazing, I never imagined the history of that Dalek Supreme prop could be so convoluted, especially when it comes to marrying up different top and bottom halves.
i had a hard life thats all i can say
the supreme council dalek Its You again!
sounds like you went through alot
Steven Austin Yeah I feel bad for him
the hydronator Yeah
The BBC really needs me back
Renegade Supreme Dalek Hello.
Blackburn stole the Dalek I KNEW IT ALL ALONG!!!!!
A great final episode to the series, the black and gold Planet supreme is probably my favourite design from the show, it's just so distinctive, so it's fascinating to learn so much about the prop's history. Enjoy your break, you've earned it.
Still don't know how you condense all this research into 20ish minutes and yet keep it so compelling.
I appear at 16:50. Weirdly over excited about that!!
You're Terry or Rebecca Nation?... Or a Dalek? :O :D :P

This whole series has been amazing! The level of detail and research has been incredible. Like many comments I have waited to watch each episode to make sure I can pay full attention with no interruptions which is rare for me to do. Congratulations to all involved and thank you - please make another series!
Thanks Andy. More are being planned!
This was a lovely series. Itâs also nice to see your channel blow up after watching your more random videos for years now.
Yes thanks! Itâs just goes to show what putting a bit more effort in will achieve! đ
subscribed after the 1st episode in this series, loving it so far :)
Thanks!
I think we've all struggled with Tony Blackburn....
Ha!
Radio Set: 'Tony Blackburn on RADIO ONE!!!'
The heads of every Auton in the universe pop off like corks...
Autons can't stand the fellow....
The gold-and-black dalek struggled to draw attention away from Blackburn's purple suit.
It always amazes me how many weird and quirky Daleks came out of the 4 stage props. Different arms, guns, eyes, "ears", and of course the rainbow of colors applied. It's like a slideshow of knock off Daleks.
đ
So I'm ever so slightly confused, if two Daleks were stolen, (presumably you meant the top of the original Planet Supreme and the bottom of the stunt Dalek) what happened to the skirt that was recovered? You said one of the Dalek, (halves) was found and since the original Planet Supreme wasn't in Planet I assume the skirt was found and then left without a top half
Two Daleks were stolen from the purple records stunt. But one complete one was found. So he had three left by that time.
@@Dalek6388 So the whole of the stunt Dalek was stolen then?
From the record promo, the top of 11 and the skirt of 19 was stolen. So, the top of the prop destined to be the Supreme in Planet and the skirt of the Supreme from 2150 Ad.
The complete stunt Dalek vanishes after the Swales motors visit. It may have been stolen as we have heard a story that one was stolen from the Selfridges display either when they were setting up or getting them ready to send back to Nation
@@Dalek6388 I wish the thieves would return them.
The majority of us have probably waited 40+ years for this series. I still remember diving into the bottom of the weetabix box's each week to get my Dr Who cardboard figures, and it was almost 40 years to the day that Destiny of the Daleks hit our screens. As I was almost 13 then, this is the series I remember the most as I had been counting the days since seeing an advertisment.
I love these. Never would have known any if this as a child i was born in 72 so grew up with pertwee and baker. Thank you
I have no idea why youtube decided to put the first part of these documentaries in my recommended but I'm glad they did
Great to hear you enjoyed them!
Excellent forensic analysis of this twisting series of events. Also nice to see a cameo by the narrator at 18:29.
The quality of these videos astound me and are absolutely fantastic and are more interesting than most documentaryâs put on the dvds, keep up the excellent work
Thank you!
FYI, those 2 missing daleks weren't stolen. They escaped.
I heard they are hiding in the UK countryside. Waiting...
and have lurked for decades, planning to overthrow humanity with a plague that keeps everyone indoors while they run amok outside
I heard they moved into the London sewers as the streets were getting a bit rough...
AND WE SHALL NEVER BE FOUND!
The series thus far has been forensic in it's detail. I thought I knew the history of who well but this takes things to a whole new level. Well done. Your hard work really shows.
Same here I've been a fan for over 20 years! (ever since 1997) and I pride myself in my know how regarding the series (albeit the Classic stuff) and to be honest I'd say that I'm out classed.
Excellent vid as usual. Recently found your channel and it great content . It's historical facts vs myth on these legendary creations. Well done .
It's great that there's going to be a season two. Loved the Gerry Haylock connection in this ep. It's always a pleasure to see his artwork. Happy Hols!
Thank you!
Go Gerry Haylock! I never guessed that. Well done guys this is truly an amazing end to an astounding series that I have literally looked forward to watching every Monday! Thank you so so much and I'm looking forward to the second series!
I have really loved this series as it has been very helpful with gaining knowledge on these props.
Thank you for making these! I hope that we can get a history of more daleks soon.
Itâs so odd how most of the interesting looking Daleks arenât actually in the TV series
They never seem to use Dalek props to their full potential in the TV series, look at the fairly recent episodes where lots of old Daleks came back only to sit in the background whilst the 2005 models get all the lines.
I really like the look of the Daleks in DTTD, as apart from Asylum of the Daleks (and even then, their appearance was briefly visible) they never popped up in Classic DW again, not even in The Curse of Fatal Death (unless I'm wrong).
I always wanted to see a Marsh Dalek in an episode but I suppose that a Dalek on stilts would have been too difficult to manage.
Kay B and people would have rightly said that looks way too goofy
Iâm getting tired of seeing the bronze time war Daleks. Could we get some other colors please? And no just turning the dome black isnât enough, we need more.
Honestly, I am AMAZED that there is that much info out there about old Dalek props, and that so many people have taken it upon themselves to make deductions and catalogue it.
Well.... somebody had to do it! đ
This channel is the best channel for infomation about these tin can machines!
Please keep up the amamzing research and work!!!!!!
Edit - Just became your first pateron supporter!
Thank you very much!
@@Dalek6388 your most welcome!
Wonderful series. Thank you. I recall in the mid 60s a huge Dalek presence in TV21...
Thanks!
love those comics
I only found your Channel at the beginning of your Series and followed you since. I love how you put a lot of time, effort and research into your videos and website to make them enjoyable and full of information.
Every time I hear more about the behind the scenes info on the Daleks, the more I realize it's one gigantic mess that generally always comes down to "We don't own our villains and the owner keeps trying to do his own thing with them!" It's all really fascinating to learn about and always has some of the strangest turns.
Itâs the casual mention of Cliff Culleyâs diary that made my head fall off.
How on Earth (or Venus or Mars) do you do this? Amazing. Donât stop.
It's amazing how long of a journey these props had. Can't wait for Series 2!
Congratulations, a really good series. Well researched and some incredible findings, especially the door
Loved every minute of these episodes, I love the detail you guys went into and the amount of time you have used to research and write these.
The colourisation of he photos was amazing too.
Honestly was better than than most TV documentaryâs I have seen!
And your voice is perfect for narrating, sound classy, cool and tough.
(Maybe the next David Attenborough?)
Gav will love you forever for that! đ
Thank you very much for your website and series. I have watched them a number of times now. Series 2 can not come around quick enough!
I love the fantastic Supreme Dalek. Planet is a fantastic Greatest Hits Dalek story. Shocked the Thals have never come back since Genesis of the Daleks.
I know right. I would have thought the Thals would have had a brief mention during the time war.
Brilliant stuff yet again. I've loved every minute of this, and I'm so glad it's not quite over (looking forward to the snippets videos). Enjoy your holiday. You more than deserve it after producing this excellent series.
Thank you!
It's Monday night! - Oh, but it's one week after your series ended. Just shows how fantastic your series has been, as, although only a few weeks long, somehow my brain has set an internal alarm clock. Looking forward to whatever you produce next. Thanks again.
Maybe not quite as long a wait as you may think.....
Oh good!
Seriously impressed with the depth of knowledge in these vids. Keep up the excellent work!!!
Just when you think you know the Daleks - you discover you knew just the tip of the iceberg about the Daleks :) - next stop - Cybermen ;)
This series has been awesome, I absolutely love it and I'm looking forward to more
Thank you for uploading this wonderful series, I'm sad to see that this is the end as I've always enjoyed watching those videos. In fact whenever you'd upload one it would be one of the main highlights of my week, no kidding! Honest!
In fact I always enjoyed being told facts about our program that I never even thought to think of, which did make me feel a little like a member of the Tribe of Gum (or should that be 'the Tribe of Orb'? Never mind) which means that while I'm not completely stupid like an Ogron (otherwise I'd have been zapped by the Doctor by now) but rather ill informed, but at the same time to be capable of learning, indeed you could say that this has been quite my Dawn of Knowledge Hmm???
Dear dear, now where were we? Oh yes...
Hopefully you will upload more Who related vids in the future, I also like the fact that you corresponded so nicely with your subscribers (I'm one of them by the way) and I liked the way that you enjoyed my little jokes and references to various aspects of all things (Classic) Who.
Happy, Times and Places.
Thank you for those kind words Christopher! Itâs been a pleasure and we are really grateful for all the nice feedback we have had. We will be back soon-ish with more. Gav really could do with a break after weeks of solid video editing!
Yay! Series 2!!! Looking forward to it :) Thanks so SO much for this series, it has been amazing - back to reading your website and awaiting the little snippets as they appear :)
Thank you Simon!
I commented on an earlier video but didn't say how much I have appreciated this series. A highlight of the week.
Thank you!

Yet again, fantastic. What a treasure house of facts brilliantly presented..perfect pitch. Thanks, RR
Thank you! đ
You've really gone above and beyond for this series, good work. :)
Thank you!
Another fascinating episode. Thanks so much for this series. I've enjoyed it immensely.
Absolutely without a shadow of a doubt the best source of information for some of doctor who's most famous enemies. I've loved this since episode 1, keep up the great work
Glad you enjoyed it!
The whole series has been fantastic, the amount of research and work done to put this lot together amazing. Have a great holiday and try not to think about Daleks!
Thanks Jamie!
Wow, great stuff as always. I want MORE!! Can't wait for series 2!
this series has been an incredible one to watch, and i really admire the effort and precision that has gone into its creation! really looking forward to your future projects

This is exactly what I needed after a heinous shift at work. Can't wait for the next instalment already!
This series has been amazing đ I've learnt so much from these episodes!
Brilliant as always. Well made and stuffed with excellent detail.
Thank you Stuart!
Another fascinating episode! Thanks guys. I knew about the later theft and return of two Daleks from the series, as it became a big Blue Peter event, but not about Terry Nation's personal ones being stolen. You keep coming up with great Dalek stories I don't know. Keep up the great work!
Thank you!
A staggering series and I thoughrouly enjoyed every moment. Such detailed research and painstaking attention to detail! Thank you for such an insightful run of videos. Good luck with the next series!
Thank you Paul!

so terry, how did you make the new daleks?
terry nation: the secret ingredient is crime

Thank YOU so much. Great series. Fascinating.

Fascinating! What more could I ask for than to feature one of my favourite supreme Daleks! I also love all things Daleks! As Davros would say...perfect!
Thanks Ian!
Fantastic level of research and all round love of the material. Salutations.
Thank you Jez!
This series is absolutely brilliant, thanks for sharing!
Thank you Steve! đ
So good! Really looking forward to series 2. Enjoy your holiday!
Thank you Carl!
I've very much enjoyed this series. It has been fascinating, professional and entertaining. Keep up the good work!
Thank you!
Fantastic work. I'm not surprised it took 15 years of research. there's not one iota of detail missing. Good work!
Still a few grey areas weâd like to uncover yet though!
@@Dalek6388 I'd love to know what the eye is made up of. both the white slotted plastic tube over the torch and the barrel of the torch, I don't think were actually part of a real torch. I notice the mirrored cone of the light isn't fixed into the housing (as it wobbles in its housing as the dome turns) which makes me think that something behind the bulb/wiring was pushing it out or wasn't countersunk. The barrel/handle also looks like it had a piece of acrylic tube placed over it with a bolt going through to secure it to the end of the stalk.
Mark Smith I think somebody had spotted it was, in part at least, an Ever Ready torch?
Excellent work. These have been much enjoyed.
Thank you!
Fascinating stuff. great detective work!
Thank you!
Thanks for this brilliant series!
Ten out of 10 for yet another Beautifully researched History of the Iconic Daleks.

Amazing work! Loved the stunning detail you went into and how you turned mundane minutia into really interesting facts.

Great series of videos guys. Far more in depth than anything that could of been commissioned for a dvd extra. Fans love history, detail, insight and education on the series and films they love. You delivered big time! and more . All the best on your new projects!
Thank you Kirk!
Thanks so much ,absolutely splendid.
Fantastic stuff! Really enjoyable. I've absolutely loved this series. Thank you!đđđ
Thank you Jules!
Cant wait for series 2!!! Patreon here I come!!
Thank you!
Outstanding work!
great series of videos, have enjoyed them soooo much
Thanks for an amazing series.
1: Surprised how often the publicity pics used props with just 2 busted tubes instead of an arm & a gun!
2: First time I've ever known about Nation's two 'Mark 7' toys - wonder where they each ended up?
3: I always thought the stolen Dalek prop stories were a myth or prank - it'd be incredible to know their actual fate?
4: With Nation's props having different origins & ownership to the BBC classic props seen on TV, there must be a whole other story about those & where they've all ended up?
Can't wait for series 2.
We have some details on our website about the whereabouts of some of the classic Daleks
There's an entire article on the Mark 7 Daleks given away in the Radio Times competition in Issue 3 of Nothing at the End of the Lane (www.endofthelane.co.uk).
Highly recommended too! Iâve just bought the PDFs for myself to read on my week away! (Jon)
Fabulous series!
Once again, amazing video. It's as precisely detailed as the Matrix of the Timelords. Kudos.
Thank you for such a fantastic series.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Not even lying I acc love these types of videos and so glad that they're still coming out!!! I subbed!

Glad you enjoyed it!
This channel is awesome I've learnt so much from this channel about daleks
Great to hear you have enjoyed it!
Fantastic as always
I guess being a dalek was hard back then because 1)they always get repainted or 2) they would get stolen
