- The epic Part 1 video of the Vermont Overland Adventure series with Jon from @DirtRoadTherapy. We hit three of Vermont's most challenging Class 4 roads including Plymouth Five Corners and the holy grail, Chateauguay Road. We found two amazing campsites in Green Mountain National Forest deep in the mountains. The first two days of this trip were amazing!

I enjoy watching the video capturing the trees, car movements, and nature.
Those are my home trails. I learned to drive at 13 years old in an 85 toyota puckup on them. We would go from reading to Plymouth, over to Bridgewater, and then to barnard. Before hurricane Irene you could drive a stock toyota through there
you make me wanna go on a road trip but i dont have a car . someday soon
Tell us more about the bug screen!!!
It’s just a roll of door / window screen cut in half and shaped to the back. I used sticky magnets along the hard top / trunk edges and on the screen to connect it. Cheap little diy project.
Well it looks great. I’m am in definite need of that setup. I’ll have to get busy!
At the top of Chataguay road there is a pond and small camping area. Your video showed it but there appear to be barriers at the top with a gate. I’m surprised to see that gated off. Was it done by the ATV folks or the forest service?
Oh yeah that open area at the top? I figured it was utility service access. Had no idea there was stuff back there!
Yes it’s national forest for sure. Just surprised to see guardrails up there. Used to be a gate Fish n Game or forest service would randomly open and close. It’s basically an easier trail than the creek bed you fellas went up.
Great video! Thanks for sharing your adventure.
Thanks for watching! It was just the beginning of an awesome trip 🤙
Had to come back and watch from the start. New trail motto is “Do it for the Alpacas” 😂
Ahhahaha yes 🥹
I’ve been on a lot of the same roads you were on. We travel from western New York to Vermont to go wheeling. Best rough roads and trails on the east coast. We were there the last weekend in September and the next stop for us will be the north east kingdom area. I Love the videos because it shows how rugged this part of the country can be. It’s not all built up cites.
Love it Henry! We don’t have the epic mountains and canyons here, but there’s plenty of beautiful options to explore still 👌
Another fantastic video! Looks like a great place to ride. I’ve got to get up there sometime. Thanks for this.
Thank you! It’s 100% worth the trip 👌
Great video, headed up to VT area this weekend. Also doing Chateauguay & Five corners, although heading down from the north, looked like you started out coming from the south. Didn’t know those ledges around Bridgewater existed. Will need to search around for those, they looked fun. If I can find the alpacas I’m close.
It'll be a heck of a trip. Have fun!
Nice job on the video. It's hard to find good footage of New England off road. Look forward to checking out some more. cheers
Hey thanks for watchin!
Just stumbled on to your channel .....
I could have sworn, I've seen you and your jeep at Town jeep in Hamburg NY.
I bet you have. That’s where I go 😅 welcome!
Great series. I'm heading to Vermont in a couple weeks. Were you guys camping on Green Mountain National Forest the whole time or is there dispersed camping elsewhere in VT?
We stuck to the national forest.
Does VT close down these roads for winter?
I’m honestly not sure. They are marked county roads, just unmaintained. My guess is they would be open, but pretty hard to pass through if they had any substantial snow in them.
Most of them do not close for Winter! There are more miles of dirt road here than paved.
Awsome I would love to know the name of the rock ledges trails I see some on gaia but unsure which one?
The rock shelves are actually on an unmarked/unmapped road that we would’ve missed if not with Ron.
With a lil bit of practice teaching yourself how to pick the most common locks found on state issued gates, the self restraint to only use it after the state workers clock out for the day, and the respect to leave things better than you found them, ALL of the fire towers in NY are climbable. I heard that from a friend of a friend of another friend though so good luck. PS if you can pick a NY lock then you can pick a VT, CA, or CO lock too. The real secret is not being a dick and leaving any evidence behind🤣🤷
Spoiler alert - the Spool Bus made it!
Thank god! I would've never done an adventure with you again after the Virginia fiasco this Spring lol
First!!! Lol
damn...
Great mom will be proud
200 plus year old tombstones in not bad condition!
I know right? What an amazing thing in the middle of nowhere 💯
Because we take of them, that's our family. When my daughter was born a few years ago she became an eighth generation Vermonter. There's a group of us that go to all the remote cemeteries in the south Woodstock, reading, Plymouth, Bridgewater, and barnard area and remove any downed trees, weedwack the grass, and keep the stones looking nice.
