Showed him This vid to nudge him a bit so we can play duets.

With regard to counting in: In my recorder trio the leader sways slightly but accentuating with the torso and head. This works quite well.
    Thanks for all your hints!

Dear Sarah I re-started playing recorder last summer after a 25 year break and I love it.I had the break cuz I was trying to switch from German fingering to baroque but it was too much for me and put me off - I´m also Autistic with some motor problems so at that time it was too much for me -now that the break has been so long it´s coming easier to me though sometimes I have still some trouble with the forkfingering but I think practising will "kill" that in the end only might take a lil more time and patience than in Neurotypical (non Autistic) people. My biggest problem at the moment playing duetts is having no -one to play with.It took me some time but now I might have figured out a method how to play duett or trio or perhaps even more with oneself. It´s pretty easy in fact. You have to learn all your parts of course and need a camera or i-phone where you can make longer videos with.I do it like that now-I play lets say the first part and record myself doing it-then I use this recording to play the second part and thus play duett with myself One now can repeat this over and play a third part etc. or even another instrument like piano or play with someone duett who is even miles or continents apart. It works great I only don´t have a camera at the moment but I´ll get a new one.Thank you for the videos they are helpfull :)

If you play different instruments (like soprano and alto or tenor recorder) you can also make handy use of a looper and an inexpensive microphone to record many, many overlaying tracks.

Thank you for the lesson and for the opportunity to meet your mom . Facts: new , have not even chosen which recorder nor do I have a particular passion for alto , vs. soprano , vs. tenor. I hope to enjoy recorder playing with my wife and someday we too will play duets. So, with all that in mind , any suggestions for which type of recorder we both might choose , with the thought of future duets in mind ?

It doesn't have to. Do you have grandchildren? My two sons are musical (one of them is a much better musician than I am) but I shall keenly encourage any grandchildren I have to take up music.
